This font is a nod to paper notebooks in which a long time ago students made notes. That's why the font looks like written by hand. The inspiration of this family font is the phrase, "Let me go back to the past".

DF-Stromboli doesn’t look like it but in fact it is a script typeface. It was written with a coffee spoon, acting like a broad pen, in the ashes of the Stromboli volcano right on top of a scanner. This typeface evokes orientation and fear, the dichotomy of Stromboli’s personification. A tribute to il faro del mediterraneo: the mediterranean lighthouse.

Linotype Finerliner is part of the Take Type Library, chosen from the contestants of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contest. The American artist Gary Munch, from whom we also have Linotype Ergo and Ergo Sketch, designed Linotype Finerliner as a handwriting font with calligraphic influences. The small, regularly formed lower case letters contrast nicely with the generous, sweeping capitals. The font is available in a light and medium weight and displays no stroke contrast. The lighter weight, micro, is best used for shorter texts in point sizes 18 or larger and the medium weight, macro, is mainly intended for headlines in larger point sizes.

Stencilvania JNL is one of the growing number of stencil fonts based on original source material by Jeff Levine. In this case, a "solid letter" stencil from years ago was modified to give it the classic stencil look of broken lines.

Carga by Superfried is an angular, brutal, uppercase display typeface. Initially inspired by the use of typography upon container ships, this font is aptly named Carga – Spanish for Cargo. Carga includes 266 glyphs and features two interchangeable character styles switched via shift.

JT Energy is a new in 2020 interpreted geometric type with optically consistent line thickness and an interesting look and feel. This type is inspired by designs from Paul Renner and Arno Drescher and was long developed until it was something own.

About 7 years ago, I released a beautiful (imho) Art Deco inspired font called Weltschmerz. Weltschmerz was an all-caps font and I always wanted to do a lower case version as well. But as things so often go in life, I never found the time and forgot about it. Some time ago, I ‘rediscovered’ my good old Weltschmerz font and remembered that I wanted to create a lower case version. Without further ado: here is Neuer Weltschmerz (‘New Weltschmerz’). I redid the whole font, better kerning, better spacing, better looks… and with a proper lower case! I did keep the original handwritten look intact - because, well, it IS hand made!

Well, that was 30-something years ago, but the memory of those jeans lives happily in my mind :) The font, Friday Jeans is a happy-go-lucky sans font with inky edges and lively lines. Funkboy looks like something that was made 20 years ago. You know, when Grandmaster Flash was scratching to the beat and graffiti was totally underground. Funkboy was made to look 100% oldschool, and now you can make your own bad-boy oldschool graffiti, using your computer! Comes with two hard knock alternate letters: the peace 'o' + the heart dotted 'i' You will need to use OpenType supporting applications to use the autoligatures.

Koch Antiqua is based on forms of old Roman writings, chiseled in marble thousands of years ago. This contemporary version is more playful and reminiscent of the Roaring 20s.

Swanville developed as part of a train font that eventually became LetterTrain. The letters of Swanville are bold, have a funny “serif” on the top but not on the bottom, and when the letters have interiors, the interior has the shape of the letter. Lower-case letters are smaller versions of the upper-case letters. Because development of this face stopped long ago, it has a limited character set.

Neeskens, by Enric Jardí. A few years ago we used to talk about Neeskens as the font preferred by the crew of Ganimedes' commercial vessels. Now we see it as one of most solid geometrics of our typefaces. Neeskens has two versions: solid and inline.

The Bicicleta family recaptures the ambiance of a bicycle journey I took many years ago along the Portuguese coast and embodies a vintage flair that appeals to me. A little reminiscing is always never a bad thing. The Bicicleta family is classic, clean and stylish.

Some years ago I designed Chalfont as a sans face. All the characters have a top heavy look when viewed straight on, however, as most type is read at an angle with the top further away than the bottom, this top heavy look is diminished. Chalfont Roman, although re-drawn with some alterations, is still basically the same face but with a top left serif giving more emphasis to the top heavy characteristics. I have also added a set of non ranging numerals.

Monocolo is the result of a reflection on communication and of the language evolution in the new media. For this reason, some emoticons have been added to the usual glyphs and symbols and icons have been added to the regular. These glyphs, through the use of Discretionary Ligatures (DL) feature, can be recalled by using their name or idea associated with them (in the English language). This feature is designed to retrieve the icons quickly and not to be applied to a text, therefore you have to pay attention to compound words when used through DL.

Mr. Gogoll's successful revival of Arno Drescher’s Super Grotesk was awarded the 1999 Kurt Christians Award. The Drescher Grotesk family consists of seven roman weights, including a version designed for use at small point sizes. Drescher Grotesk is a classic German geometric design, complete with the original “angled” brackets.

I watched the movie Red Dragon a while ago and it inspired me to make this rather spooky font. I was going to call it Dolarhyde (after the antagonist), but settled on the more unsettling Fearsome. Fearsome is a handmade script font with a ‘psychopath’ feel to it. Comes with a gruesome amount of diacritics.

Some time ago, my son asked me to name all Seven Seas. I had to think for a bit, because I can think of more than 7 seas (the North Sea, the Caspian Sea, the South China Sea, the Sea Of Okhotsk, etc.), but apparently these are not part of the BIG Seven. It turns out that even oceans count as ‘seas’. Long story short, I created a font, had to think of my son’s question and named the font Seven Seas. Seven Seas is a hand made serif that comes with swashed alternatives for a lot of glyphs.

Setsuko finds its origins on the ancient Silk Road, a network of trade routes crossing the continent of Asia, named for the Chinese silk trade which began in the Han Dynasty more than two thousand years ago. Originally designed to brand and package products celebrating the charm and mystery of the Ancient East, the characters in Setsuko are intended to express admiration and respect, not stereotyping or parody hoping to leave room for a designer's creativity and personal interpretation.

Schreibmeister is my interpretation of Arno Drescher’s design for Ludwig Wagner, Leipzig, completed in 1958. The letters X and x were improved as well as some ligatures. The letter E has an alternative, and the small d comes with two alternatives, of which one form can be reached by typing the partial different key. Generally it is recommended to activate both Standard and Discretionary ligatures.

It has become quite a good looking font to be honest: oodles of crayon goodness, heaps of crumbling bits and a lot of expression. Since I had designed a lot of typefaces by that time, I had lots of material to feed it and it was fun to see what it produced. YahoschWormy is one of rare results that was interesting enough to save and clean up. The source font was Yahosch.

Years ago the company that developed Fontographer marketed a program called Font-o-Matic, a program that distorted fonts in various ways. 99% of what it produced was garbage, but every once in a while it would yield something interesting. Since I had designed a lot of typefaces by that time, I had lots of material to feed it and it was fun to see what it produced. Zuider Postduif was my very first font design 3 years ago and I decided to remake and extend it including the Cyrillic alphabet and some OpenType features. It looks pretty cool as printed text(lyrics, poems) and fits best for decorations, posters, menu carts for restaurants, brochures, newspaper headlines or logos. It’s comfortable to read above 12 px.
