I finally designed this simplified brush style script after years of frustration trying to find a font that can fit a need for short descriptors especially for packaging design. While this script does not replace custom script, it comes close - it even includes the underscore as in the sample type.

The drawings, for what is now Triplex Italic, were done in Iowa City in 1985 by John Downer. The italic was originally conceived as a companion for another typeface being drawn at the same time called Arcatext, which (like Triplex) could be described as a "humanist sans-serif" having simplified character shapes constructed mostly of geometric parts. At one stage, a certain customer was interested in Arcatext but wanted a different italic drawn for it, so the plan for the italic took another direction and the idea for this one was dropped. Five years later, Emigre decided to commission the abandoned italic as a digital typeface in three weights as companions to the Triplex Sans and Serif families designed by Zuzana Licko in early 1990. The ascenders and descenders have been shortened to match those of Triplex and the new capitals embody more of the features that distinguish the lower case, but otherwise the digital version closely follows the original drawings. In predator, a fantastic sci-fi movie. My version of the fantastic script used to write the alien language, adapted into Old Hungarian runic script. Other versions are Anglo-Saxon Runic and Old Turkic Runic.

Broadwindsor is part of the "Staunton Script Family" of fonts designed by Ted Staunton for his historic novel. The Broadwindsor font is a neatly written script with capitals and lower case in a close relationship.

Artscript was Sol Hess's "attempt to convert into rigid metal the graceful penmanship of the ancient scribe". This type of script is more common in digital from but when originally released in 1948, it required special handling to avoid breakage. Extensive alternates were added based on original Hess drawings and additional sources. Both versions are combined into the Opentype version along with an expanded Central European character set as well as ligatures, Swash/Alternates, fractions, superior/inferior numerals and ornaments.

A very readable script, simple yet elegant. Works great in a multitude of applications.

Fonts based on handwritten forms enjoyed a revival in popularity in the 1930s. Diskus was designed by Martin Wilke in 1938 and exhibits many traits of modern script and brush typefaces. The informal and energetic Diskus is a script and brush font for daily use and the capitals can be used as initials mixed with other fonts. Diskus is particularly good for titles or texts in middle to larger point sizes.

As a late work the “Meier Kapitalis” forms an arch within the typographic creations of the Swiss type designer Hans Meier who died in 2014. The first sketches of this typeface can be found in the teaching manual “The Development of Script and Type” (German: “Die Schriftentwicklung”; French “Le développement des caractères”) which was published in 1994, however, under the title “Roman Lapidary, 1st Century”. The booklet was first published by the Syntax Press, Cham, Switzerland and contains an introduction by Max Caflisch in which he writes: „The present work, „The Development of Script and Type“ is a concise, authoritative textbook, concentrating on the essentials in a wide survey from ancient Greek inscriptions to the printer’s typefaces of the present day. His (Meier’s) 72 varieties of letterforms enable the student or general reader to understand the history of script and type, while more than 60 of his own calligraphic specimens provide excellent models for all who practice this art.“ Unfortunately, the “Meier Kapitalis” is one of the few typeface families in this publication which has been digitized. It was to be the last type project fully realized by Meier. In cooperation with Elsner+Flake, the typeface family was developed and expanded and now contains the four cuts: Roman, Medium, Demi Bold and Bold with either a complement of characters for 78 Latin-based languages (EL=EuropaPlus) or in West-Layout.

Venture Script reflects Hermann Zapf's handwriting. It was originally written with a Japanese feltpen. And like with Zapf's typeface Noris Script he wanted to preserve the rough outline of the handwritten form in the final drawings.

Julio is designed in the best tradition of English scripts. It comes in very handy if you want to have an elegant touch.
