I started making this font with a few days left at work before my 4 weeks vacation. I managed to finish the font on the day my vacation started - but with no stress. Now I can look forward to 4 good weeks at the summerhouse, and look back at the release of this laid back, handmade and somewhat quirky font. Personally I’d use it for anything that needs an organic handmade look - perhaps packaging, posters, flyers or maybe even clothes or toys for kids!

Printers Lot JNL is another eclectic mix of cartoons, ornaments, catch words, decorations and embellishments re-drawn from vintage source material used in the days of letterpress printing. For those who like to assemble their own larger borders, a set of elements is on the 2-9 keystrokes, but it must be noted that some manual adjustment is necessary to line up all of the parts in a complete border pattern. Linotype Not Painted is part of the Take Type Library, chosen from the contestants of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. This fun font from German designer Robert Bucan grabs attention immediately. The forms are made up of multiple layers. The upper case’ alphabet forms, numerals and punctuation are two different styles of the same character, one over the other, and the lower case’ letters are composed of the lower case and upper case of the same letter superimposed. The WPA (Works Progress Administration) posters on file at the Library of Congress have been a treasure trove of classic hand-lettered type designs. Summer Program JNL is based on one such poster offering free arts and crafts classes in New York City sponsored by the Federal Art Project.

Hand lettered production credits for the1930 film “Holiday” inspired the digital type revival Summer Holiday JNL; available in both regular and oblique versions. An Art Nouveau influence is reflected in this pleasant, casual serif typeface.

Several years ago I was faced with a project that required very small type to be used in a directory. In general, there was a need for a lot of 'fine print'. Faced with this, all of the tests I was making with existing faces were producing too much bleed of the individual glyphs...Cynapse was born. It evolved into this pseduo-techy looking type that standardized and glorified the ink trap (the small, tiny allowances of white space that reduces the amount of ink hitting the page, and in effect, reducing the appearance of bleed). The results was promising. The new OT version contains additional OpenType features that include expanded ligature sets, fractions, 5 sets of numerals as well as small caps and Central European diacritics.

dT Ampla shares many characteristics of the versatile sans typefaces of today: nice range of five weights with matching italics, 40+ supported languages, contemporary upper-to-lowercase proportions and impeccable performance in big and text sizes. However, all these features are designed with distinct shapes and details. Notice the angled terminals – the cut at the end of the strokes – or how the vertical strokes in the italics seem to 'bend' a little, for instance.
