During the spring of 2006, while creating this typeface, I was reading Praying For Gil Hodges, by Tom Oliphant, who grew up a Brooklyn Dodgers fan. I grew up a Los Angeles Dodgers fan. My mother worked as secretary to the president of the old Triple A LA Angels Baseball Team. In 1952 when she was pregnant with me, she left the team. They gave her an autographed baseball and a puppy named Angel. That's the dog I grew up with. Toward the end of the book the author talks about Gil Hodges' favorite ballplayer, a slugger for the LA Angels, Jigger Statz. I thought, could it be? My mother died two years ago and I got the team baseball. Sure enough, the first name after the dedication to my mother was Jigger Statz.

Gik is sans serif font family with modular aesthetic and the elegance of contemporary typography. Its compositional and plastic solution combines echoes of (de)constructivism, brutalism, de Stijl and other manifestations of 20th century antiquity + techniques characteristic of italics. But this does not make the font old-fashioned — on the contrary, it helps to understand how to use it. Gik is a product of the metamodernism era — it is on the border between modernist enthusiasm and postmodernist mockery, between simplicity and awareness, wholeness and cleavage, clarity and ambiguity — a kind of conceptual oxymoron. Looking at Gik, you could imagine it at Fashion Week, if there was one for typography. Gik has a message for both the designer and the viewer, it stimulates the imagination, it is the anthology of all fonts of the future.

Our Pardner font finds its inspiration from the title screens of the 1965 film “West and Soda”, an animated Italian film that was a parody on American Westerns. Director Bruno Bozetto claimed in an interview that he was in fact the originator of the Spaghetti Western, not Sergio Leone. This offbeat and animated serif typeface has characters of varying width and weighting incorporated into opentype scripting as well as numerous alternates to give a lot of fun and frolicking play in typesetting. The original typeface was designed by Albert Kapr between 1971 and 1973 for Typoart in Dresden. Kapr was the font designer and teacher as well as book author on type design of former East Germany. He also was an expert on this kind of type design, and thus, it is no surprise that he created Leipziger Antiqua, a design combining features of both Latin and broken scripts. The result is a stunning and unique gem from earlier times although it does not come along too distinguished or artsy. The digital version of Leipziger Antiqua was developed by Ralph M. Unger exclusively for profonts in 2005. During the work, Unger fell so deeply in love with this typeface that he couldn't help but add an expert font with small caps etc.

Stanzer is an interpretation of wood type combined with the idea of modern stencils. Instead of cutting every letter, we are presenting an example of how a modern stencil typeface could look like, as we have come to the conclusion that almost every letter works without cutting it. Stanzer is a Unicase typeface, available in three OpenType weights: Black, Shadow and Block. Stanzer first started as part of our diploma 2010 (it was called Stanley at that time). The basic idea behind this typeface is that it is fully stencil usable, and, unlike other stencil fonts, does not require any bridges (except for the O and Q). Almost every letter can be sprayed without inserting planks. However, Stanzer also offers the display weight Block, which is only suitable for print or online usage.

WildSong was inspired by the exuberant flight and beautiful song of birds. While most brush scripts take their cue from mid-twentieth century samples, WildSong is a fresh, contemporary alternative. WildSong reflects a dynamic interplay between dark and light, creating a sense of drama while hinting at a calligraphic background. Words suggest a baseline, yet are not bound by it. Letters interweave in a seemingly random dance, sometimes connecting smoothly, then breaking that connection as a calligraphic scribe does intuitively. Exuberant swash alternatives to uppercase letters, as well as ligatures can be accessed through both the type and glyph palettes. The font contains over 235 characters - (upper and lower case characters, punctuation, numerals, symbols and accented characters are present). Ostbahnhof is a headline font inspired by both german blackletter and hand-painted signs. Built of all straight lines, Elegeion Script -- inspired by retro printers' scripts with a dash of calligraphy and handwriting thrown in -- mimics the imperfections and irregularities of old letterpress printing. One good pun is worth a simple description… Nondescript JNL… 'Non' - not. 'de' - of, in Spanish. script - a cursive (handwritten) letter form. So… while nondescript generally means lacking any defining description, in this case it also means "not of a script"… which is precisely what a typeface such as this one is!

This dotty delight, with its exceptional x-height, is based on handlettering presented in one of Hal Martin’s many Idea Books for Signmen, Artists and Displaymen, published in the 1930s. The ball terminals on several letters in the original alphabet have been enlarged to punctuate the page with dancing dots, suggesting the game which gives this typeface its name. The Bermuda Family was designed by Garrett Boge and Paul Shaw, in the vein of freely-drawn showcard lettering — jaunty, fun and friendly. In fact the drawings were made with a Speedball™ B-series pen nib, the stock tool of the showcard letterer. Bermuda Open is a stroked outline version and its character shapes are repeated in the other three styles, each with a separate fill variant — Solid, Dots and Squiggles.

Modulair is a dot matrix based font with nice typographic features. Various figures, complete punctuation and small caps in three weights makes the Modulair a very usable font for subtile typographic solutions or headlines. Since autumn 2023, the Modular has been expanded with italics in three weights. The first sketches were made in 1979 on my father's Olivetti typewriter. Forty years later I used these sketches as the basis for the Modular.

I had a Neneh Cherry song in my head when I made this font. In ‘Buffalo Stance’ she sings about a gigolo with his hands in his pockets and his crocodile feet. I liked the sound of it, so Crocodile Feet font was born. Crocodile Feet is a children’s book font: bold and cute, with easy to read glyphs. Comes with double letter ligatures in both the regular and the dots style.

Between the most rigid geometric letterforms and the most expressive calligraphy works there are, undoubtedly, countless combinatory possibilities. Ingeo is just one of them. Located very close to a geometric approach it shows, however, a clear willingness to accommodate in its structure the calligraphic traits of our alphabet. In Ingeo geometry grows from the inside, meaning that all its counters are based on geometric shapes. Around them, contours are later defined. The solid mass resulting from that interaction is modulated in specific areas in a way that evokes the way a writing hand finishes a letter and starts the following one. Ingeo seeks to accommodate calligraphic features in its geometric structure without any complexes, in the same way a computer engineer writes a song or a poet admires the orbits of planets and satellites. In this vast and unmapped realm between seemingly opposing concepts is where Ingeo finds its playground. There, that interaction is pushed to its limits and the resulting letterforms are later confronted with typographical conventions to assess whether they survive. Ribbon type. Holy grail of complex-lettering-turned typeface or an elusive Loch Ness monster that is often teased, possibly seen in the wild, but never confirmed? From the amazing lettering artist and author Martina Flor and masterful type designer Neil Summerour, comes the aptly named Ribbons. Ribbons is a sincere and well-conceived approach to providing a reliable solution to ribbon and ribbon-styled type for creative professionals when a lettering artist just isn’t available. Ribbons provides both flat and ‘folded’ options with the Regular and Fold styles, but then raises the bar with separate layer styles that will allow you to easily create the elegant back and forth movements produced with ribbon-style lettering we have all come to appreciate. Magneton is a brush script typeface that contains three weights and two slant angles. Three weights simulates the pressure of the brush pen; light is written with a gentle pressure and the bold one with more pressure.
