Linotype Boberia is part of the Take Type Library, which features winners of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contest. Designed by Bo Berndal, its historical roots lie in the neoclassicism of the turn of the 20th century. The slender letters with a large x-height and marked stroke contrast give the font an elegant character. The nostalgic, flowing forms are typical of Art Deco fonts and allow designers a number of possibilities for the font’s use. Boberia includes regular, italic and bold type styles.

"TSUBAME" means swallow in Japanese. These fonts are based on the shape of Tsubame. The relationship between humans and swallows is as deep-rooted. Japanese swallows have adapted to nesting in and around human habitation from ancient time. So in Japan, they prohibited people from catching or killing swallows because of their beneficial role as insect eaters. Since the relationship between humans and swallows is close, this font's letter spacing is designed to be very tight.

Kaweah is a sharp, condensed, serif typeface with wide language support and strong historical roots. The original inspiration for this typeface comes from text in the museum collection of Kings Canyon National Park. It is designed to be used in titles and subheads.

Some vintage Beacon metal door letters used for identifying addresses on home and business buildings was spotted in an online auction from England. Those few letters were the inspiration for Home Address JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Here’s an intriguing mixture of 1930s deco and modern tech fashion. Travel Kit Medium is a sturdy semi-serif hybrid with one foot in the past and another in the present. It is slightly low-waisted with extended crossbars on the capital A, E, F, H, K, and P. But the capital B, M, R and X are distinctively contemporary with the E and M repeated as unicase letters in the lowercase. Optional retro characters (notably the unicase e and m) have been provided if you prefer a more traditional overall look - and your software allows access to these characters. Simply find and replace the more modern letters with the older ones. In addition, small caps with even more alternate characters have been included for greater flexibility and convenience. Travel Kit Medium with Alternates is now available in the OpenType format. In addition to small caps, lining figures, oldstyle figures, and petite figures, this expanded OpenType version contains additional stylistic alternates and historical forms. These advanced features work in current versions of Adobe Creative Suite InDesign, Creative Suite Illustrator, and Quark XPress. Check for OpenType advanced feature support in other applications as it gradually becomes available with upgrades.

Ziro expresses itself boldly and spontaneously. It consists of two different sets of capitals to help create natural handwriting effect. The letter "I" is treated like a lowercase "I" and the letter "O" has a dot in the center. The lowercase variation does not have a dot in the center for those less adventurous applications. Ziro is loose and raw in larger sizes and therefore has many useful applications that may include restaurant logos, menus, boutiques, packaging, etc.

Long before there was Scooby Doo, there was scooby-dooby. This exuberant font is based on the works of whacked-out 50s album-cover artist Jim Flora, whose imaginative illustrations defined hot jazz and cool cats. The Opentype version of this font supports Unicode 1250 (Central European) languages, as well as Unicode 1252 (Latin) languages.

I bought a pair of green gumboots (or Wellingtons) the other day. I have a little wilderness outside and it is quite muddy, so I thought a pair of boots would be a good buy. Gumboots is a handmade comic font. It comes in a regular and a fat style and you can use it for just about anything that needs a bit of comic relief.

This typeface, in fact a bitmap font 'avant la lettre' is an interpretation of the Old Face condensed type. It is being used where space is scarce. Its skeleton is projected on the chain structure of a fly screen. Eventually your text lines fill the space as wide as hypothetical doors can be. In small sizes the text appears to be drawn with a pencil.

Fire up the incense and break out the love beads! A 1968 poster for a Doors concert by legendary artist Gary Grimshaw provided the inspiration for this wild, far-out and funky romp through the alphabet. Use it liberally to add a little trippy hippie charm to your next project. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

Rasteroids Monospace is a typographic flashback to computing of the mid 1980s, when 9-pin dot-matrix printers were the state of the art, and most home computer displays were TVs hooked up to RF modulators. Rasteroids not only captures the dot-matrix printer look, but recreates the rasterized appearance of text on those lower-resolution monitors. Because of its fixed character width, Rasteroids Monospace is intended for use in accents or small areas of copy rather than long documents.

Homeward Bound is a fat, grungy slab serif font - all handmade and inspired by a well known 1934 font. With Dreadnought I go back to my roots: one of my very first fonts was a scary brush typeface called Face Your Fears - a very popular typeface with horror lovers, thrill seekers and gangsta rappers. Dreadnought was created using a stiff brush and some very high quality paint on textured paper. The result is a lively, scary and very legible font. Argenta is an informal, "hand-printing" font that has the appearance of writing by a child in elementary school. Argenta comes in three weights and has an oblique style for each weight. Inspired by early cool cartoon fonts, early rock and hippie posters, I created the casual 'DT Stoner Toon' font. Then by adding strategic dots to add a little more quirkiness to the mix, I came up with this organic 'DT Sticky Stones' font. Please use with contextual ligatures turned on when possible. These letters like to adapt to their neighbours.

Dickybird Doodles? A dickybird is an ordinary bird, not a raptor or game bird. This illustration font has 32 of them. Birds in a cage, on a wire, in a nest. A flamingo, toucan, sandpiper, cardinal, penguin, heron, chicken & rooster, hummingbird, swan. Some line, some reverse and one with polka dots.

This font is artistic. The shape of the letters was taken from the dot art that I worked on consistently. Letters are read by habit and feeling. Sometimes I also think for a moment about what this letter is. But, you soon find out. A brief pause and continuation is refreshing.

Dancin' is yet another unusual typeface from American designer David Sagorski. Based on his own style of handwriting, Dancin' is an inventive, carefree typeface ornamented with dots and unusual strokes.

Sometimes the simplest ideas yield more than one result. The basic “dot matrix” design of aligned circles that was the basis for Transactive JNL also yielded Zera JNL (connected rings) and Pillow Puff JNL (fluffy and cloud-like lettering). One more design was originally cast aside. A separate file is available for filling in the letters with a colored background, however minute adjustments may be needed due to the fact that each drawing or design software program has its own characteristics and quirks. Sabina Chipară's DIN Next Shapes typeface is a twist on the original German industrial classic, taking its skeleton and re-clothing it in dots, hearts, snowflakes and stars. In hardware stores across the country are display racks with letters and numbers silk-screened onto self-adhesive aluminum "parallelograms". These handy and durable items have graced countless mailboxes, office doors, hallway signs and automobiles for years. My fellow font designing buddy [Harold Lohner] suggested that I make a font based on this form of lettering as a counterpart to my Mailbox Letters JNL (also based on self-adhesive signage product)... and now his suggestion takes shape as a digital font... Luminum JNL.

This fine lined display type face was named Allioideae because of the ascenders of the lower cases. They are rising upright with a single stroke and are ending - depending on the font style - into a spherical blossom. The name was chosen concerned to the plant allium, that forms an umbel at the top of a leafless stalk, when it is blooming. Allioideae is the name of a subfamily of monocot flowering plants in the family Amaryllidaceae. The name is derived from the generic name of the type genus, Allium. The wide and round capital letters are showing a nice contrast to the lower cases and giving the font a kind of female feeling. That provides a functional and lovely use in headlines for all beauty and cosmetics issues.The typeface appears in 4 different styles. a plain style – Allioideae, a stencil style - Allioideae Stencil, a (dotted) style for both - Allioideae Dot and Allioideae Stencil Dot. It supports multi language as it covers all the latin diacritics and a cyrillic character set. Lots of numbers as monospaced, lining figuers, old styles, sub- and superscript and many fractions in two different styles are giving a nice finish to that font. Presidio is a stylized version of the hand-lettered calligraphy typical of the Mission era of early California. This lettering was often unique to an individual hand, but the characters shared a common style, and had their roots in the Middle Ages when monks and scholars copied whole books one letter at a time.
