Guillotine is inspired by an uncredited early 1970s film face called Rhythm Bold. Press Gothic is a revival of Aldo Novarese's Metropol typeface, released by Nebiolo in 1967 as a competitor to Stephenson Blake's Impact (designed by Goeffrey Lee). Though Metropol enjoyed a few short months of popularity and use in Italy, Germany and France, Impact won the technological outlasting battle by moving on to film type then to computer outlines bundled with mainstream software, while Metropol never made it past the metal state until now. Mein Schatz's (in English: Darling) characteristic feature is the availability of ligatures in the expert set. The font offers – among others – the ligatures sh, sp, st, tz and alternatives for f, l and z. The expert set’s majuscules have curved elements in addition, thus allowing designers to put the typeface to highly individualistic use for displays and logos. Another feature of the font are the two different figure systems. Further to the normal table figures, Mein Schatz also offers old style figures, mainly for use in continuous text. Mark van Bronkhorst designed MVB Celestia Antiqua at a time when font choice was limited. Design was characterized by overuse of the few fonts that came with laser printers. A rustic typeface, recalling the roughness and irregularity of pre-digital printing, was a response to the cold crispness of DTP. MVB Celestia Antiqua holds its own among a large group of other “weathered” serif fonts, in part due to the size of the family: three weights, small caps, italics, and two titling styles. But it's also successful because it's simply drawn well, the contours only as rough as they need to be, enabling text at any size, large or small.

When creating the font, the main inspiration was to take from the Brazilian graffiti trend - Pichação and Korean typography.
