“Fanfare is such a fun typeface,” says Toshi Omagari, who revived the design for The Wolpe Collection. “It was my happiest discovery when I was digging through the Monotype archive. I came across it and had to check the designer’s name.” No wonder: Fanfare is modern, light and playful – not what you’d expect from an 80-year old design. Hey guys! Meet our new font "Luxe Atelier" which is inspired by a bit quirky but still lovely handwriting. When we launched our font "Lolita" in 2019 many liked the way we replaced some uppercase letters with lowercase ones. The response was overwhelmingly positive. The feedback we received inspired us to refine the idea of the lowercase signature style and we created "Luxe Atelier" with a lot more lowercase letters that give an uppercase look. However, some uppercase letters simply cannot be written as lowercase due to their nature: they would just lose their primary sound. For example, when we tried writing lowercase 'e' in the uppercase style it more resembled lowercase 'l' and affected the legibility of the font. Therefore some letters in this font remained as is. When it comes to other letters, we tried maximally to keep the lowercase style. This playful, non-standard signature font with slightly rough edges includes 37 ligatures which will definitely add realistic handwritten character to your designs. A modern black-letter, so to speak. Composed of a few basic elements with a wide-quill ductus. Faber Fraktur was based on the idea that it must be possible to create a modern black-letter type. The typeface is ”constructed“ according to the same principles as a script without serifs: as few varied basic forms as possible, omission of frills which make the type difficult to read and repetition of similar forms. The typical contrasting strokes of the original handwritten black-letter script are retained nonetheless. The elements of this typeface were even pre-formed with the quill. All characters are reduced to their basic skeleton. The fanciness and manifold ”breaks“ or fractures typical of black-letter typefaces are considerably reduced to just a few essentials. Faber Fraktur is a very legible type perfectly suitable for long texts. It does not appear nearly as foreign and archaic as the old black-letter fonts. The capital letters especially have a charm of their own radiating a kind of playfulness in spite of their severe form.

When I was a kid, I loved the story of The Boy Who Cried Wolf. I thought it was pretty stupid of the boy to trick the villagers into believing wolves are attacking his flock of sheep. But I also thought it was a bit sad that the sheep are eaten by a wolf in the end. I didn’t really feel sorry for the boy (he really was stupid), nor the wolf (he just does what he is supposed to do in life), but I did feel sorry for those poor sheep. I guess this is what disinformation leads to in the end. Cry Wolf is a bit of a scary font: it was made with a really old and battered brush, using Chinese ink and some quality French paper. It has a slight tilt to the right and I added some inky splatter for dramatic effect. Use Cry Wolf for your book covers, product packaging and headlines; use if to spice up you invitations and your halloween posters. Comes in a slightly tilted Regular style and an outright Italic style.

Bayside Tavern is a weathered version of our Tavern Alt font family. With its straight sides Bayside Tavern fits better in tight spaces and reads better at smaller point sizes than the regular Bay Tavern version. With three weights, open faced and outline versions to choose from you're sure to find the right style for your new project, restaurant menu, logo, t-shirt design or Pirate costume party. While our original Tavern Alt font has been increased to include five weights additional weights for Bay Tavern will have to wait for now, adding the notched cut in's were all done by hand which causes a lot of cramping so a long break is needed before creating the extra weights. In the early 1980s, at the start of my career, I had the opportunity to work in a print shop with classic lead setting. In those days I would study issues of U&lc magazine from ITC. What really caught my attention were scripts in the Spencerian style. I’ve been fascinated by this American penmanship tradition ever since. A few years ago I developed a font. Boris Bencic used it when he was redesigning L’Officiel magazine in Paris. I took these initial forms and developed them into the font Mommie when I started my own foundry. Although I usually design text typefaces, working on Mommie taught me how complex it can be to create a script headline font. The biggest challenge in this process has been to keep it alive and fresh. The Regular weight is only made for very big headlines. The thin lines with the bold drops are very elegant. For smaller sizes use the Medium and Small weight. It won the TDC 2008 award and was Judges Choice of Christian Schwartz.

Organic versus geometric are two different universes that converges on nature systems and has its reflection on this new sans serif typeface. Frambuesa is a half humanist-half geometric sans that merges decorative curves with straight lines looking for a balance. The result: a solid but somewhat romantic, nostalgic type program that go ahead harmoniously, dancing to the rhythm of a naturally imperfect melody. Frambuesa can’t hide its family genetics. Structure and proportions come from Elisetta, her older sister they so both have a really good text performance. Regular variables and italics feel comfortable in a lot of contexts and are useful for little words or big title compositions. All seven weights are carefully adjusted to achieve soft transitions between one and the other resulting in high readability levels on program combinations and complex uses. This new font family name is a tribute to Lucia’s childhood, a very happy one. Frambuesa honors this sweet intense red fruit that her grandpa’s Coco gave to his grandchildren every Sunday in the summer.

PF Libera was designed at a time of leisure with no particular intention for commercial use. In fact it was offered in the beginning as a freeware. In 2001, designer Charis Tsevis was convinced that it may have some commercial value, so Parachute obtained the rights to sell this typeface. At that time, we did not even imagine what would follow. Two fonts entirely of decorative initials of which the uppercase basic letters of RMU Initials One are occupied by Walthari initials, the lowercase ones by Eckmann initials, both released first by Rudhard, '92sche Gie, 'dferei, Offenbach, Germany, about 1900. RMU Initials Two consists of Jubilaeumsinitialen in the uppercases and Augsburger Initialen in the lowercases.

Asterism Clean is the smooth lined version of Asterism. It is a calligraphy style font with a moving baseline and lots of shining personality. Also contains a bold and a monoline version. Highbrow Cafetorium JNL is a very "minimalist" font in the sense that there's only the basic lower case characters and essential punctuation. The lettering is based on a neon-and-bulb wall sign for a long-closed cafeteria on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach, Florida. The 'b', 'd', 'k' and 'l' have unusually high verticals.

Ames’ Shaded is one of three display typefaces designed to complement the Ames’ Roman and Ames’ Text typeface families. Ames’ Shaded has that semi-industrial feel that somehow is evoked by diagonal cross-hatching. Delightful for use on its own of with the families mentioned. FS Koopman is a hard-working typeface. A crossbred workhorse that draws on inspiration from Swiss grotesks, American gothics and early British grotesques. It refuses to fit neatly into any of these categories, it’s neither one nor the other, but all of the above. It’s kinda Swiss meets American… (but with a slight Yorkshire twang).

Signorina is a funny font (a "funnty"?) not to be taken so seriously. It reminds me of slab serif designs, but jelly-stuffed instead of having wood. This font also works very well on small sizes because of it's tall x height. You can use this kind of font on both text and titles.

Dessert Script is a display font in one style based on flat brush calligraphy. It combines the smoothness of contours, overall dynamics of text setting, open and friendly nature. Dessert Script is good for short inscriptions, greetings, food packaging and menus. The typeface was designed by Alexander Lubovenko and released by Paratype in 2015.

Artime is a dynamic display font based on strong graphic elements with rectilinear forms. Artime came in two style forms; a solid one called Flat and a decorative form with crisscrossed of vertical lines called Deco. Artime comes with Open Type features and interesting ligatures. Breeze is a fun font from Frank Marciuliano where the letters are formed like the sails from the boat. He may have been inspired from the sailboats which he sees on the walks along the shore on the Hudson River. There are two forms available. Left and right define the direction of the blowing wind.

Another one of those faces that caught my eye in one of my art deco type books, and I wanted it. After I finished the face, I noticed that there is a more clean-cut version of this face in digital format, but my version retains more of the funkiness of the original drawings.
