Wallington Pro is a decorative-serif font embodying vintage and elegant curves with functional structure. Style is adopted from Old English cultures with their descendants around mid-12th century and Art nouveau in 19th century, it was inspired by natural forms and structures and the curved lines. The design of the Tabwa font was inspired by the font Neuland designed by Rudolf Koch in 1923. Rather than attempting to re-create his font in a digital form as so many others have done, I have tried to capture the "spirit" of his font and merge this with the spirit of Africa. As a result the characters differ markedly from Koch's original styles and have much less of an "Art Deco" look to them. To further modernize the font I have included all the characters missing in Koch's original (a full lower case, as well as all punctuation, diacritics, special characters etc). The result is a thoroughly modern re-interpretation of the original "Neuland". The numbers (0 to 9) bear no relation to Koch's originals but, I believe, are far more in keeping with the alphabetic characters in the font. The triangles that decorate the characters of this African font are typical of the patterns found in the Tabwa culture of central and west Africa (in the Congo region).

Obcecada Sans & Serif are two geometric digital typefaces in regular and bold versions, very condensed and thin with a rounded finish on the horns and joints with a modern style. They include the Cyrillic and Greek alphabet. These fonts are the result of my obstinacy for very condensed fonts, in this case I have inclined to a very fine proportion with short ascending and descending that gives them elegance decó.

Jeff Script is based on original handwriting of renowned Russian type designer Vladimir Yefimov. Vladimir designed a plenty of Cyrillic fonts that became the classical ones between contemporary Cyrillic type designs. Being extreme busy with type projects, he never had time to digitize his own script and this lacuna was filled by Gennady Fridman. The font was developed to the 60th anniversary of Maestro and released by ParaType in 2009.

American Signer is a script brush font that inspired from traditional 1980’s Sign Painting. Made directly based on brush lettering and through a comprehensive digitization process, an American Signer was created that is suitable to help you get a sense of sign painting letter. P22 Cigno is a new digitization of the 1950s Italian typeface by Aldo Novarese for the Nebiolo foundry. This semi-formal script has a definite mid-century European flavor suitable for menus, invitations and poster work. Along with the accurate rendition of the regular weight, designer Colin Kahn has added a lighter companion font for another variation on Cigno. Both fonts feature a full Western European character set.

Linotype Impacta is part of the Take Type Library, which features the winners of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contest from 1994 to 1997. Dutch artist Marc Lubbers designed Impacta with little contrast between strokes, rather, he depended on the slope of the strokes to give his font character. Impacta can be used in small or large point sizes and its constructed forms bring a modern feel to graphic design.

A vintage British lettering stencil was the inspiration for Sandwell Stencil JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. This pleasant and condensed stencil font was originally a semi-stencil – many of the characters were made as solid letters ,while the others had a traditional stencil treatment. For the digital version, the stencil treatment was applied to previously solid characters to create a consistency in the overall design.

An ever so slightly off kilter sans-serif, Good Grief started as a digitization of a film typeface called Carmel by LetterGraphics. From there, this fun and friendly typeface was taken from its limited character set and fleshed out to a fully functional typeface. With the legibility of a text typeface, yet the personality of a display type, Good Grief - why haven't you gotten this fantastic font yet?

Linotype Escript is a part of the Take Type Library, which features winners of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contest. Hans-Jürgen Ellenberger designed this handwriting font with fresh, lively forms. Each letter has a slightly different character, yet all fit well together and this lack of concrete rules gives the font a spontaneous feel. Escript is well-suited to headlines, smaller texts, and initials when combined with constructed typefaces.

Novelty songs and their often crazy or extra-long titles were all the rage at the beginning of the 20th century. A piece of sheet music for the 1920 song "When Chu-Ching-San weds Paddy McCann" had the title hand lettered in an unusually bold form of Asian-inspired lettering. This has been recreated digitally as the type font named for the song - Chu Ching San JNL.

Hancock Bold Condensed is slab serif typeface. The original Hancock design was produced by the Keystone Type Foundry, circa 1903; a condensed version was added circa 1917 by Lanston Monotype. Steve Jackaman (ITF) designed and produced a digital version of Hancock in 1994, and completely redrew the typeface for its 2017 release. The new version has a 40% larger glyph set, and supports Latin 1 plus Central/Eastern European languages.

Before typography had 'rules', lettering artists set down designs that have endured as classics. A perfect example is Brenham JNL, which was modeled after an antique wood type. The extra elongation of some characters, the irregular shapes of others and the overall hand-made charm of the entire design makes this digital font the perfect choice for replicating broadsides, posters and anything needing a nostalgic look as if from the past.

The basic design style for Nouveau Days JNL was inspired by the hand lettering on the sheet music cover for "Linger Longer Letty". This tongue-twisting song title comes from the 1919 musical comedy of the same name. Some of the characters originally had tiny spur serifs, but they were omitted in the digital version to keep the overall design consistent. The font is available in both regular and oblique versions.

ITC Odyssée is the work of French designers Roselyne and Michel Besnard, who were inspired by the digital imagine of type which opened up possibilities for new visual illusions. The serifs of this font recreate the virtual lines formed by optical residue" on TV screens, looking like horizontal serifs trailing off to the right. ITC Odyssée is a clear and legible typeface which features a simplicity and grace in its forms."

A circa-1920s book on lettering entitled "Book of Alphabets" by Regan Publishing displayed an example of a Grotesk typeface (a popular style of sans serif of the time). This design was re-drawn digitally as Not So Grotesk JNL and is available in four varieties - regular, oblique, condensed and condensed oblique. Not So Grotesk JNL is the perfect companion font family to use alongside Simply Grotesk JNL.

The opening titles and credits of the 1947 film comedy “The Egg and I” were done in a hand lettered casual sans serif typeface which inspired the digital font Egg Farm JNL; available in both regular and oblique versions. “The Egg and I” introduced audiences to Ma and Pa Kettle as portrayed by Marjorie Main and Percy Kilbride, who went on to do a number of additional films as those characters.

LP Bambus is another new handwriting script written with bamboo from German designer Peter Langpeter (lp-design.de). LP has been running his own design studio since 1995, working as a typeface and logo designer, as a calligrapher, cartographer and illustrator. During this time LP created a large number of excellent new typeface designs. Now, we are extremely happy that LP has chosen to let URW digitally produce and market his designs.

Linotype Indus is part of the Take Type Library, which features winners of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contest from 1994 to 1997. Designed by P.H. Hashin from India, Indus finds its historical roots in inscriptions found on ancient Indian graves. Thus Indus has a unique look and is versatile in point sizes from middle to headline. The font combines well with sans serif and slab serif typefaces.

A vintage photograph of the Man at the Wheel Saloon in San Pedro, CA [circa 1895] provided an excellent type design source with the unusual lettering on the bar’s sign. Basically a spurred serif design, the unusual characteristic of the type style is the ‘bumps’ or ‘dots’ on the tops of each letter. This has been redrawn digitally as Beer Joint JNL, and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Linotype Dot is part of the Take Type Library, featuring the winners of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contest. Designed by Lucy Davies, the figures are composed of a combination of white and black dots and the contrast makes the font look like points of light and darkness. The general impression of Dot lies somewhere between ornamental and technical. It combines well with sans serif and calligraphy fonts.

Although wood types were at their peak of use during the letterpress era of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, there is a growing revival movement of "boutique" print shops who have embraced the look and texture of this form of printing. More modern in design that many of its counterparts, Pleasantwood JNL is still a nice addition to the wood type library re-drawn digitally by Jeff Levine Fonts.
