Admiral was inspired by and extrapolated from the Art Nouveau lettering incised into the facade of a local hostelry. This gave us some inspiration for the capitals 'A', 'B', 'C', 'E', 'H', 'I', 'L', 'O', 'S', 'T' and 'U'; we then had great fun extrapolating the rest! The source of the name Admiral can be spotted if you look at characters such as 'A', 'H' and 'N'. Admiral's distinctive charm and humour lends it to projects with a 1900s Art Nouveau theme, be they book covers, posters, signage, invitations, cards, or anything else you enjoy!

Rasteroids is a typographic flashback to computing of the mid 1980s, when 9-pin dot-matrix printers were the state of the art, and most home computer displays were TVs hooked up to RF modulators. Rasteroids not only captures the dot-matrix printer look, but recreates the rasterized appearance of text on those lower-resolution monitors. Unlike that dot matrix type of yore, Rasteroids does have some variation in character width, and is legible in small blocks of copy. Still, it is best used sparingly, or as a special effect.

The family comprises four distinct variants optimised for specific point sizes, as was traditional in metal type. While the display sizes maintain a visual link to calligraphic roots, text sizes exhibit more typographic qualities, following the hand of the carver. Originally designed in 1928, Plak is something of a lost gem in the type world. Despite being drawn by Futura creator Paul Renner, it never achieved the same popularity and spent decades lacking a much-needed digital revival. Monotype designers Linda Hintz and Toshi Omagari have taken its existing three weights and, after extensive research into the original wood type, extended them into the vast Neue Plak family. The typeface is available in 60 weights that stay true to Renner’s intentions, and offer the same blend of “quirky” details and “German stiffness” – as Hintz describes it. InduXtrial was developed for a poster project which needed a modern, degenerated look. We actually designed a custom variant of our Savoyard font with some unique characters and a somewhat different look for a number of the characters. We then degenerated the character outlines in Photoshop, ultimately running them through several permutations to produce two different versions of each character for the main font, plus an additional font with stylized initial capitals and customized small caps. Then, just to cap things off we produced a set of drop-cap initials and unique outline characters. The result is just what you need to express the concept of industrial decay in print.
