Acton is a deceptively simple, grid-based design. Though derived from a 2 by 3 arrangement of blocks, it uses white spaces to allow for more complex shapes – for example as the R – where the underlying 3 by 5 arrangement is apparent. It also departs from this strict grid-based logic for characters such as the the T, L, f and r, whose cross-bars are shorter than they would otherwise be in order to promote optical evenness. No elegant solution could be found for the V, which in geometric fonts can appear very similar to the U, lacking as it does the cross-bar that can differentiate a square A from the capital form of the n. However, the resultant diagonal retroactively proved useful on the lower-case e and a, characters that otherwise would have more uninteresting design solutions.

IronType (formerly known as Ironman) is an extra bold geometric titling face in the Art Deco poster tradition. A warm sense of strength and playfulness runs throughout this design. Triangular-shaped crossbars are some of its distinguishing characteristics. The face also contains some very amusing alternates. The tails of the alternate cap K and R extend below the line and the alternate cap N has a hump instead of a diagonal stroke. A handy set of lowercase letters with lining and smaller figures are also included. IronType Extra Bold is now available in the OpenType Std format. Some new characters have been added to this OpenType version. These advanced features work in current versions of Adobe Creative Suite InDesign, Creative Suite Illustrator, and Quark XPress. A smooth contemplative Antiqua with aspiring to the sky ascenders, inspired by the Quietism philosophy. When designing AM Sans One, it was a great challenge for me to develop a modern sans serif, which despite the large number of existing fonts in this sector has its own unique character. Starting point for the design concept was the cap O, designed as a rectangle with rounded corners, and not as usual as a circle or oval. The O should form the basis for the whole alphabet. Another feature are the characters with oblique starting and end strokes such as "A, V, W". These have not exactly straight, diagonal lines, but have a slight curvature. Thus, these letters do not look too geometric. Also the cap K deviates slightly from the usual shape which makes AM Sans One different from other already existing fonts. I could well imagine applying this font for areas such as engineering or architecture.

The Miramonte™ Pro Family was designed by Steve Matteson in 2006 as a friendly sans serif design suitable for user-interface design, corporate branding and publishing. The name means 'behold the mountains' in Spanish, suggesting the rustic, unrefined type design. Mountain is a digital revival and extension of Teutonia, an old metal typeface released by the Roos & Junge type foundry (Offenbach am Main, Germany) in 1902. Teutonia’s design was popular during both the Art Nouveau and the Constructivist eras, where similar letterforms could be seen as far away as the Soviet Union. Although it slipped under the radar during the 1930s and 40s, this style feels extremely contemporary today. Mountain’s underlying geometric feeling is reminiscent of pixels and grids, suiting it for application with music and art, as well as history. Yet this typeface is not as static as it seems at first glance; playful diagonals—like those seen on the capitals D, L, P, and W—enliven the otherwise stern horizontal and vertical motion. Patrima is a contemporary typeface with roots in the past. Specifically in the late nineteen hundreds where decorative type applications were en vogue and dimensional aspects and shadings where heavily used. Patrima takes simplified cues from these designs to make the typeface contemporary and versatile. Its base is a squarish Sans which expands through diagonal hatching to a three dimensional body. The hatching is wide enough for screen applications down to 24pt while remaining detailed for decorative purposes in larger sizes. Patrima’s different styles can be layered for chromatic results or used – complementary – alongside. As a decorative typeface it lends itself to display applications and eclectic logo designs, it brings a vintage touch to any branding project and elevates contemporary editorial layouts. BigStripesMono is another typeface family from IngrimayneType that explores the possibilities of alternating letters sets. The family is monospaced with four fonts: a base or solid style, an outlined style, and two styles in which each character is cut diagonally and the halves are separated to form two characters. These split styles are not designed to be used alone but layered with the base style, outlined style, or both to form colorful lettering with an unusual striped appearance. The stripe is not apparent in single letters but only in words or lines of text. The name Norden means “the Nordic”, as in the geographical area or its countries. Acarau is a 6 fonts display typeface with high reverse contrast—since from Roman capitals and calligraphy, usually Latin alphabet letters have thiner horizontal steams and thicker verticals, these features being optical or visual—quite adequate for logos, headlines and posters. Moreover, the style of the typeface is inspired by Italics form factor: lowercase letters having less strokes to make their shapes; A has one story; E has one stroke shape, such as K, G, Y and Z; F has a descent. To give it more calligraphic feeling, there is contrast for uppercases as well, this is very perceived by the diagonal letters like A, K, M, N, V, W, X, Y and Z. J also has a descent. Q and R have natural swashes, but they have alternates in case the costumer want to go for more usual forms—including accent marked letters. Acarau is a 12 months project, the contrast for uppercases were increasing as the process was made. Songs from bands and singers that emerged on Rio de Janeiro like Paralamas do Sucesso, Cazuza, Lulu Santos and Kid Abelha bring the beach accent and rhythm that this font has. Article to appear on the font family page: According to the Catholic faith, a well known náhuatl story called "Nican Mopohua" (translated as "Here it's narrate") about the Marianas apparitions on the Tepeyac's hill, to the north of the actual Mexico City. After four apparitions, La Virgen de Guadalupe (LVG) told Juan Diego (JD) that he must introduce himself to the first Bishop of Mexico. JD took in his "ayate" some roses (that aren't natives to Mexico's barren territories) and when he dropped them in front of the bishop, the image of LVG appeared in front of him with indigenous features. I’ve worked a lot in this font that appears to came out of nowhere, just like the image of LVG itself, the fact is that I started first sketching some flowers, because I wanted to do something related to this mexican story, so, taking some features from this flowers I started sketching some letters, for example “r” and “i” and the counter forms for some letters like “a” and “o” (that I didn’t use by the way) and the punctuation marks, all inspired by this leaf forms. Ablati is the commercial release of the font designed during the production of our new font design book, “Practical Font Design”. It is a new serif font in my continuing objective of designing book fonts that I can really use. In many ways, Ablati is a very different direction for me. Designed to produce gaphics to use in the font design book, I was forced to really reconsider many of my working methods to make them work for outside readership. Like all designers, my internal design processes can get really sloppy. The book helped me clean up my act. Taking my inspiration from one of my favorite fonts of all time {though I've never really been able to use it much}, Romic, by Colin at Letraset, I decided to design a unilateral serif font. In most ways, this is a normal serif for me in that it has caps, lowercase, small caps with the appropriate figures for each case. This font has all the OpenType features in the new set developed for the book. There are several ligatures for your fun and enjoyment: bb gg ff fi fl ffi ffl ffy fj ft tt ty Wh Th and more. Several alternative forms, a dozen ornaments, and more. Like all of my fonts, there are: caps, lowercase, small caps, proportional lining figures, proportional oldstyle figures, & small cap figures, plus numerators, denominators, superiors, inferiors, and a complete set of ordinals 1st through infinity. Aquawax FX was developed by Francesco Canovaro as a new variant of the Aquawax family, one of the most beloved Zetafonts classics. This new typefamily is characterised by a contemporary and elegant design, that revisits the original design of 2008 with new geometric inventions, twisted with the current fluid zeitgeist. Aquawax FX builds on the original Aquawax family by adding counter-inktraps to the letterforms and emphasizing the inner contrast of curves and corners creating a smoother, flowing and dynamic look. While inktraps are a design feature that prevents ink from bleeding or filling small spaces in letterforms to achieve a cleaner, more readable look, anti-inktraps characterize the design with a distinctive watery appearance, suitable for logo design and titles. This watery effect is possible through a slight rounding of the inner and outer corners, keeping the original cuts at the letter terminals. Space Armada - A Science-Fiction Font for Out of this World Designs! Space Armada is inspired by a 1980s interpretation of the future, referencing blockbuster sci-fi action movies of the period, along with the emerging video-game consoles and home computer technologies. It's nine unique fonts are designed to work together in a variety of ways, so you can layer it's different styles on top of each other to retro-futuristic effect!* Here's an example of how it works: Start by placing the Regular font on top of the Bold for a simple base outline. Add contrasting gradients to both fonts for an instant metallic or chrome effect. Take it a step further with one of the readymade Outlines for an embossed look. Overlay the Wireframe font for a glimpse inside the machine! This looks particularly good when you apply a glow effect and reduce it's opacity so the other layers show through.
