This is the 100th font released by CheapProFonts, and I wanted to make something special - so I have chosen to upgrade one of the most popular free fonts ever: the one and only Scriptina by the infamous Fredrick “Apostrophe” Nader! After first cleaning up the outlines, spacing and kerning, Scriptina Pro has been expanded with a set of alternate letters without the loops and swashes, using the OpenType contextual alternates feature to switch them around automatically to avoid too many overlapping and repeating elements. You can also manually turn off the loops and swashes with the OpenType titling and swash features respectively. The originals alternate letters have been incorporated as stylistic alternates (and stylistic set 02) and the ligatures as discretionary ligatures if you should want them. The alternate non-script lowercase z is programmed as stylistic set 01. In addition Scriptina Pro has been given the usual CheapProFonts large multilingual character set, of course. I hope many will enjoy the improvements and additional language support. And, naturally: it is still free! I have also used variable letter widths (and kerning), as opposed to the technology's original monospaced design - this to make the text more readable. This font has been used for signage and wayfinding in the new Mbombela Stadium built for the FIFA World Cup 2010 - and it looks strangely appropriate there: the font has a certain hand-painted, relaxed charm so fitting of the south African culture. Interesting and bold choice of the architects. :) Anyway, the font has now been updated with our usual multilingual glyphset, and is ready to use around the world by soccer fans and typo fans alike. A funny looking font with circular shapes and cutouts - both hippie and futuristic at the same time. Fishmonger originated from a commission of two fonts for the corporate identity of a fishmonger shop. When sketching the elementary principles for the lettering, the idea for a modern, extensive font family with a large number of styles was born. The first step consisted of defining the range of widths and weights. Then the master design Medium Regular was completed. The next step was adjusting the Extra Condensed Thin, the Extra Condensed Bold, The Extra Extended Thin and the Extra Extended Bold weights, as they are the vertices of an imaginary square map of the face. This meant that, in order to achieve a harmonious result, the x and y axis needed to be defined. From top to bottom, from the widest to the most condensed cut, the proportions are linear. However, from light to black, the line curves gently, allowing lesser difference between the light cuts, and a dramatic one between the heavier cuts. To ensure the original parameters were respected each position on the vertex was checked against the Medium Regular. After sorting out the ideal set-up, the remaining characters of each of the weights were drawn, and the remaining cuts were interpolated according to the principles above. Fishmonger is a functional, clean design, free of any buoyant, ornamental shapes, almost minimalist. Maybe this is what lends the type family its unique appearance.

This is the first true pixel-font released by CheapProFonts. It may not be the first font based on a 5x5 pixel grid, but it probably has the best language support. The glyphs have all been optimized for Flash (by making the pixel shapes slightly overlapping) and should render sharp and perfect when set in 10px size (or multitudes of 10). A couple of weeks ago, I found my ink well, which I thought I had lost. I decided (there and then) to create a bunch of inky brush fonts, which resulted in Dirrrty and Scrawny Cat. And now, needless to say, Garden Bed. It is named after a strophe from one of my favorite Soundgarden songs: Just Like Suicide. Garden Bed is a hand made didone-ish font, with a very irregular baseline, some interesting glyphs and a secret garden filled with diacritics.

Quiche is a high-contrast, sans serif typeface featuring ball terminals and angled stems. A complete branding suite, the 4 subfamilies were created to work harmoniously together based on the need. The design is influenced by the Didone genre, characterized by its elegance and extreme thick/thins, but it removes the serifs for a unique and modern expression. The high-contrast style exudes sophistication while the ball terminals soften the overall look to make it feel a little more approachable.

Seravee was inspired by the significant style of Modern (Didone) Typography. The bolder they become, the more exquisite and stylish along with excellent legible at the same time. Designed by Stawix Ruecha, Bangkok based type designer. Rather than programing process, geometric forms as they were, each weight was well-crafted manually by hand as a result of humanistic sense. Through various weight ranges (Black, Bold, Regular and Light), to ensure that Seravee will perfectly cover all aspects of usability in every layout.

Encorpada classic brings the best features of the Didone genre, but with a 21st century look and feel. With smooth details Encorpada Classic is a elegant choice for your type library. Elbow Grease was made with, yes, you’ve guessed it: Elbow Grease! It started off as a grungy font, but it didn’t look right, so I reworked all the glyphs. Then I forgot to save the font, so I had to start all over again. Naming a font was never this easy! Elbow Grease is a didone-ish font with some seriously warped glyphs, a lot of panache and a ‘get-it-done’ attitude. Also comes with a toolkit full of diacritics.

Absolute Beauty is a happy family of a smooth casual monoline signature script and a high contrast elegant didone serif. The signature script comes in three weights to cover as much design needs as possible - from websites to brand design, from magazines to billboards.
