According to the dictionary, the way a letter is formed or shaped within a writing system is an allograph... and Allograph JNL from Jeff Levine takes on unusual shapes. Using characters from Jeff's Printing Set JNL font, they were printed out white-on-black, and the paper was torn into abstract pieces and then scanned in order to create this edgy looking font.

Dime Store is a font inspired by childhood memories of dime stores in downtowns and shopping malls in the 1970s. The font was tweaked and digitized by Bob Alonso, who also digitized Breauhare’s Cooper Goodtime font. Wyoming Pastad is the simplest of the Wyoming series. The round letter shapes of Wyoming Spaghetti have moved toward squareness. This font started life in 1893 at the Boston Type Foundry, but was also cast at the Central Type Foundry. Both were members of the ATF combine formed in 1892. Like so many interesting fonts of its day, it was issued without a lowercase, limiting its use to display headlines. Sometime in the early 1990s, we designed a lowercase to go with it.

Let's say a San Francisco punk group used letters from a theatre marquee to create a flyer in 1979 for one of their shows. Then the flyer showed up in the background of a newspaper photograph, and the photo, twenty-five years later, was enlarged and the lettering on the flyer was turned into a font. I bought a few new pencils and I tried them out using Chinese ink and quality French watercolor paper. The result is Brush Crush - a very nice brush font. Brush Crush would look perfect on packaging, book covers, posters and headlines and comes with alternates for all lower case letters. Needless to say, Brush Crush speaks most Latin-based languages.

Due to the same proportions and heights, Yalla works great together with Afronaut. Yalla was extended in 2024 by Mateusz Machalski & Małgorzata Bartosik with new weights.
