Céline was inspired by a recent trip to a vineyard in the South of France. A vintage stencil numeral set was etched onto the wine fermentation tanks. Céline is a one weight stencil display typeface with plans to expand the family with multiple weights and non stencil versions. Céline includes some language support, standard and discretionary ligatures. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it.

The Sideshadow family has 4 weights, Regular, Bold, Light and Half Light (which is intermediate between Regular and Light). The distinguishing feature of the font (you don't actually need me to explain this, do you?) is the partial shadow to the side of the main character, giving it a distinct and eye-grabbing look. The zip files contain both OTF and TTF versions of the font - install one version only.

Donatello is a classically proportioned design with subtly tapered strokes, inspired by the lettering on the fifteenth century cantoria by Luca della Robbia in the Museum of the Duomo, in Florence. Bebedot originated from doodles and scrabbles in notebooks; irregular forms very well might contain a style for an alphabet. Once used for an intro spread in Wired magazine (#6.04, April 1998): "To keep up you need the right answers. To get ahead you need the right questions". The name was inspired by a women clothing poster at the San Francisco bus stands. The dot is for the com that never came.

The Fleurons of Paris were inspired by an iron gate, an iron railing, a Metro tile, a Metro stop, the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, a rainy afternoon, a glass of wine, an outdoor cafe and the list goes on and on. Absorbing all things visual was immensely satisfying second only to coming home and reliving the trip tiny graphic by tiny graphic. Also look at the Ornaments of Paris.

Keetoowah evolved from a just a few letters in a sketch for a sorority t-shirt design. They loved it and kept asking for more of the same. The only solution was to make a font. These characters were made to be broken up, two toned, rotated, merged and jammed together. But, Keetoowah has a serious side. It has a great Southwestern flavor like smokey BBQ and patterned blankets.

Chank worked with Josh Eshbach, an intern from Minneapolis College of Art and Design, to create Cocaine as the Chank Font of the Month for November 2000. The idea behind Geotica was to build a font out of -more or less- simple geometrical line elements. The open wire frame could then be left open or (partially) filled. Geotica comes in four different grades or line thicknesses (One, Two, Three and Four) so it's suitable for a broad use. African Shield is named for the cow-hide shields used by Zulu warriors. The shield was an essential part of the weaponry of the Zulu Nation. In the days of the great King Shaka, every Zulu warrior was armed with a shield, one or more throwing assegais (type of spear) and a stabbing spear. I made a new more limited feature set for these fonts due to their designed usage.

Sign Production JNL somewhat resembles Sign Kit JNL but there are some noticeable differences. The letters and numbers in Sign Production JNL are bolder, wider and have some slightly different character shapes. The common theme is that both fonts were designed from die-cut letters and numbers found in the Webway Sign Cabinet, manufactured by the Holes-Webway Company of St. Cloud, Minnesota until its demise in the 1980s.
