In his 1538 book on measurement, Albrecht Dürer gave clear descriptions and drawings about the proportions of the letters in both Roman and 'fraktur' alphabets (from Latin 'fractura', meaning that it's broken up with lots of different angles rather than smooth curves). Here is the fraktur alphabet as a font completed for use today, with a few characters modernised and some gaps filled. I did not have that many glyphs to work with, so I made most of them up. Southside Fizz became a very elegant all caps Art Deco font, quite useful for wedding invitations, books and posters. I really enjoy making brush fonts. I usually just get my Chinese ink and a bunch of brushes and start drawing glyphs. It took some time to get Studio Brush right, but I think spending that extra time paid off. Monarque is an elegant typeface. It is crafted with fine details that would make your typography stand out. Large x-height, high stroke contrast, rounded curves & long sharp serifs create together a dramatic look that would succeed in delivering a strong message with elegance. The true italic’s are designed to work harmoniously with the roman for a striking contrast within a line. Originally created to be an all-caps only, the font includes a lot of uppercase ligatures that are thought to flow in naturally and achieve a legible composition. OpenType features include a stylistic set of alternates, contextual alternates, discretionary and standard ligatures, old style figures, small caps and case-sensitive forms.
