The font Marcel is named in honor of Marcel Heuzé, a Frenchman who was conscripted into labor during World War II. During the months Marcel was in Germany, he wrote letters to his beloved wife and daughters back home in rural France. Marcel’s letters contain rare first-person testimony of day-to-day survival within a labor camp, along with the most beautiful expressions of love imaginable. The letters — stained and scarred with censor marks — were the original source documents used by designer Carolyn Porter to create a script font that retains the expressive character of Marcel Heuzé’s original handwriting. The result of years of research and design work, P22 Marcel Script features more than 1300 glyphs. The font is a highly readable running script that includes textural details that capture the look of ink on paper. fj Platz Groteske™ is the new font from frncojonastype project that culminates after almost 5 years of learning and development. fj Platz Groteske™ is a Neo-grotesk font with slight geometrical proportions with humanistic terminations. For this occasion, this font will show the normal version, however, the entire project contemplate condensed family, extended and the development of alphabets as Cyrrilic and Greek. This proposal is to improve the legibility in the Neo-grotesk fonts with generous gaps, vertical and square counter form and ascendents that exceed slightly the capitals. In B-movie awesomeness, Air began as Grotesk vs. Grotesque. I was trying to unify the prevailing traits of German and English Grotes(que/k)s in order to make something different but familiar. I am NOT trying to reinvent Helvetica (snore), so get that out of your system. From the onset, I intended this typeface to be a true workhorse that offers infinite options and flexibility for the user. At its core, it is the maturation of the Aaux Next skeleton I developed years ago. I worked out Aaux Next to settle my issues and love for Akzidenz. With Aaux Next, I strove to be mechanical, cold and unforgiving with it. I was single, young, cocky and it fit. Now I'm married, kids, dog and have found that I've turned into a big softy. When I look at Aaux Next (and have for the past few years) I see another typeface trying to eek out. I wanted it to avoid the trappings of robotic sans, quick tricks and compromises. The typeface’s DNA needed to be drawn and not just generated on a screen — so I set aside a year. I love type. I love working with type. I hate when my options for a slanted complement is only oblique or italic. I set out to produce both to balance usage — there are more than enough reasons to prepare both and I want the user to feel free to consciously choose (and have the option to choose) the appropriate typeface for print, web, etc. That flexibility was central to my decision-making process. The Oblique is immediate and aggressive. The Italic was redrawn at a less severe angle with far more movement and, as a result, is far more congenial when paired with the Uprights. Condensed and Compressed. Yep, why not? I know I would use them. There are nine weights currently available. The logical progression of weights and the intended flexibility demanded I explore a number of light weights and their potential uses — this has produced a number of ‘light without being too light’ options that really work based on the size. The result is a robust 81-font superfamily that is functional, professional, and highly legible without compromising its personality. Pair that with over 900 characters per font that includes ligatures, discretionary ligatures, stylistic alternates, fractions, proportional/tabular lining and proportional/tabular oldstyle figures, numerators, denominators, ordinals, superiors, inferiors, small caps, case-sensitive functionality and extensive language support and you have a versatile superfamily well-suited for any project.

Ribfest is a new font based on lettering found on old United States currency from the 1800’s. Named after the Ribfest held in Naperville IL over 4th of July weekend each year, this font will be perfect for your next summer barbecue party. Ribfest offers three Fill fonts that can be layered behind the main open faced fonts, the regular Fill font covers the complete opening on the main fonts while the Fill T for top and Fill B for bottom gives you the option to fill with two different colors for top and bottom. Our Pardner font finds its inspiration from the title screens of the 1965 film “West and Soda”, an animated Italian film that was a parody on American Westerns. Director Bruno Bozetto claimed in an interview that he was in fact the originator of the Spaghetti Western, not Sergio Leone. This font contains plant icons from the taxonomic category Orchidaceae, inspired by the multiple specimens that can be found in Colombia that has the largest number of orchids in the world, more specifically in the specimens that have been exposed on the José Celestino Mutis botanical garden. These icons are characterized by having an organic outline; representing flowers, roots, leaves, bulbs and different supports or pots. The vast majority of icons have perfect bilateral symmetry because this is one of the differential characteristics of orchids (compared to other flowers), if they are divided by a central-vertical axis, their right and left sides are practically identical. “Aguadija” can be used in projects related to nature or similar topics, some icons (specifically the digits) are intended to form decorative ribbons or borders.

Stanzer is an interpretation of wood type combined with the idea of modern stencils. Instead of cutting every letter, we are presenting an example of how a modern stencil typeface could look like, as we have come to the conclusion that almost every letter works without cutting it. Stanzer is a Unicase typeface, available in three OpenType weights: Black, Shadow and Block. Stanzer first started as part of our diploma 2010 (it was called Stanley at that time). The basic idea behind this typeface is that it is fully stencil usable, and, unlike other stencil fonts, does not require any bridges (except for the O and Q). Almost every letter can be sprayed without inserting planks. However, Stanzer also offers the display weight Block, which is only suitable for print or online usage.

This is a monospace font for the Braille alphabet. The idea came while exploring new ways to display the regular braille glyph ( 3 rows of 2 dots ). The glyph design is inspired by "stackable multiple board" games like the famous Vulcan chess (from Star Trek series) and the Qubic (3D tic-tac-toe). The stack is made from 3 levels, each level is a 3x3 grid with 2 "playable" cells (South-West and North-East). Each cell can be either empty, filled by a white square token or a black square token. The 3D effect is obtained by means of the classic isometric perspective. Lowercase letters use black tokens, while uppercase letters use white tokens. Most special characters (e.g. digits, *$#@, []{}() etc.. ) are also provided for special usages like program source code (see poster 5).

Esteric, originally created with a concept of happiness, fun and playful. Designed initially as an all-caps font. Lowercase are just slightly lower than Capitals. Also, Esteric is created with some OpenType features, such as stylistic alternates, interlocks, and tons of ligatures. Joy and Playful guaranteed! What is interlock? When you are using the stylistic of a rounded letter O and meet another letter with stylistic rounded forms like C and G, glyphs define the space and merged like a ligature. Best scene for using Esteric place like a Party, Happy Events, Fun projects. Any media is suitable based on the concept. But Esteric won’t fit with an serious type of project. Please note that OpenType features are only available in programs that support them, such as Illustrator, Indesign, Quark or Photoshop.

Carpenter® is a beautiful script perfectly suited for invitations and announcements. Created by James West, the design was a facsimile of the penmanship of Mr. Carpenter of R. Hoe & Co. and released by the Cleveland Type Foundry as one weight in 1882. It is now also available in SemiBold and Bold. The style of this script is very reminiscent of formal handwriting popular in the late 19 and early 20th centuries. It is graceful with formal structure. Its x-height is very small, with unusually long ascenders and descenders. Although there are many script fonts available, Carpenter is a historical design with a truly unique personality that will add a truly unique look and feel to your design. From GroupType™, Carpenter is available in TrueType and OpenType.

Windows users can use the Character Map to view and copy one of the additional characters to paste into your favorite text editor. WildSong was inspired by the exuberant flight and beautiful song of birds. While most brush scripts take their cue from mid-twentieth century samples, WildSong is a fresh, contemporary alternative. WildSong reflects a dynamic interplay between dark and light, creating a sense of drama while hinting at a calligraphic background. Words suggest a baseline, yet are not bound by it. Letters interweave in a seemingly random dance, sometimes connecting smoothly, then breaking that connection as a calligraphic scribe does intuitively. Exuberant swash alternatives to uppercase letters, as well as ligatures can be accessed through both the type and glyph palettes. The font contains over 235 characters - (upper and lower case characters, punctuation, numerals, symbols and accented characters are present). It has all the accented characters used in the major European languages.

Di Mare is a layered script inspired by Italian restaurant and cafe signs. It’s about delicious food and the joyful atmosphere of traveling: freedom, sea, fresh wind and warm sun. This font family has three styles: Regular, Line, Shadow. You can combine and overlay them to get different effects. Di Mare works well for menu, packaging, clothes, signs, magazines, and as a starting point for lettering and logos. Di Mare is designed with hundreds of contextual alternates and ligatures. It makes all connections look natural and harmonious. Di Mare supports most European languages, has small capitals, numbers, fractions, currency and mathematical signs. All contextual alternates are built into the “Liga” feature that is turned on by default. However, when your work with typeface, please make sure that “Liga” is turned on.

Wasabi is one of the key ingredients in the Japanese kitchen. Also known as japanese horseradish, it is an extremely spicy condiment made out of the graded root of the Wasabi plant. Its spiciness is different than that of a chili pepper though, more like a hot mustard. The spicy taste shoots right through your nose, but does not last for long. Wasabi is traditionally used in sushi and sashimi dishes, soba noodles, and in a number of Japanese snack foods. Equally sharp and stingy, VLNL Wasabi Turbo was designed by Donald Roos. Despite its japanese outward appearance, the font has its origin in lettering found on a German book. It is hot, and edgy like a samurai sword. Wasabi Turbo will stand out as headline and logo!

Bigfoot is the fattest font ever made. It began as a simple exercise given to students in a design course: Most people don't appreciate type because they don't really know what it actually is. One way to understand it is looking at it like a combination of sculptures that have to work together to achieve a certain harmony, where each letter form is one of those sculptures. Most people understand and appreciate that a sculpture starts from a rock of an incomprehensible form, which is manipulated by someone into becoming the recognizable or abstract work of art it eventually is. Consider type design a kind of two-dimensional sculpting. You have a rectangle. Take away as a little as possible from it until it is recognizable as the letter A. Repeat to get the letter B, and so on. After all 26 minimal letters are made, do they actually function as an alphabet to build words and sentences that are recognizable to the human eye? This exercise can trigger thoughts and theories about the overall subjective nature of identifying abstract yet somewhat familiar shapes. It can go into the psyche of art in general. But one thing for certain, this exercise has so far helped a few people find a new appreciation for finely crafted typefaces. If you are a design educator, your students' typographical perspective and arguments would benefit from it. And if you are a designer, well, fat faces are all the rage these days, and this is as fat as it can get. Please note that that this typeface, due to its minimalistic nature, does not include accented characters. It does however support the full C0 Controls and Basic Latin Unicode set. K-haus 105 is inspired by the work of graphic designer and typographer, Herbert Bayer, during his time at the Bauhaus around 100 years ago — work that kick-started graphic design as we know it, to this day. It owes something to the simple geometry of Bayer’s hand-drawn, ‘universal typeface’, updated and expanded to deliver a clean, balanced, geometric sans for today. Also available as K-haus 205 , featuring a few, more 'daring' characters here and there, chiefly in the lower case set. Both variations include an extended character set, featuring accented characters for Central European languages.

There is something special about a neon sign, yet changing times, city ordinances and even technology itself is turning this staple of urban life for over a hundred years into a museum piece. Night Sign JNL emulates the craft of hand-formed neon signage and it (along with a few added special effects) can really add some good-old-fashioned pizzazz to a print or web project.

Macho Moustache is closely related to Macho Modular , the parent type with which it shares modular widths and most letterforms. The difference is that Macho Moustache follows the ‘Grotesque' tradition of tight apertures for a, c, e and s as well as some of the numerals. Original design work started together with Macho Modular in 2008. Now the range and communication potential of the Macho family has been developed with five weights. Since the Macho family was designed bearing in mind the idea of Themerson's semantic typography, Macho Moustache features all sets of modular brackets and underlinings.

Sébastien Truchet designed a modular typographic system during his last year in the School of Fine Arts of Besançon. The system is made of a unique grid and 6 modules which are the components to build several typefaces. The most radical is the "2-2". The last one is the "10-12".This is the "2-3". The goal is to use a grid made of 2 modules in width and three in height. This version is the most pertinent minimalist typeface which keeps plasticity and legibility. There is a character set of capitals tied to the origin of the project

For decades, the Persian-born Naghi Naghashian has been working as a graphic designer and illustrator in Germany. Arian™ is his first commercial Arabic typeface. Named after his mother, Naghi created the Arian typeface family after years of systematically analyzing the Arabic script. The Arian design is sought to fulfill the many needs and was developed for multiple languages and writing conventions. It's extremely legibilitable not only in small sizes, but also when the type is filtered or skewed. This typeface offers a fine balance between calligraphic tradition and the contemporary sans serif aesthetic now common in Latin typography.

Centrale Sans Condensed is not just a "squished" version of our Centrale Sans family, it's designed as a stand alone typeface with the family characteristics in mind. It bears all the qualities of the normal width being even friendlier because of the closer relation it has with the humanist model. The condensed width is with 15% narrower than its normal sibling, which makes it precious space-saving tool. Centrale Sans Condensed also have 9 weights from Hairline to Extra Bold plus their matching italics. It includes Some OpenType features like discretional ligatures, tabular figures and stylistic alternatives.

There are a lot of things to say about fashion. I never really cared about what people meant was fashion, at any time of my life...well, not counting my teenage years!!! I was a teenager in the 1980ies and I was really into what was hot or not...but when I look at photos of myself from that time, I always wonder what kind of fashion trends I was following! :) Brutal Fashion is really not brutal in any way, but more attractive, nice, charming, handsome, delicate and graceful - with a stunning amount of handmade roughness!

Architype Universal is a collection of avant-garde typefaces deriving mainly from the work of artists/designers of the inter-war years, whose ideals underpin the design philosophies of the modernist movement in Europe. Their ‘universal’, ‘single alphabet’ theory limits the character sets. Architype Bill was developed from the few letterforms created by Max Bill for a 1949 exhibition poster. All the forms, with the exception of the letter ‘o’, were constructed using only straight lines and triangles on a purely mathematical basis, that showed the continued influence of his earlier Bauhaus training, and the universal alphabet principle.

The lettering for Stencil Box JNL was found on the packaging of a children's toy stencil set circa the 1940s. Popular for years, Pencil Stencils were a series of "connect the line" stencils where a series of dashed lines were traced from the cutouts and the lines connected to complete pictures of animals or other subjects. Although the packaging itself was often updated to reflect the current times during the life of the product, it was this hand-lettered example of stencil-meets-Art Deco from the 40s that proved worthy of saving as a digital typeface.
