I am a HUGE fan of Bernard Cornwell’s ‘The Saxon Stories’. Ever since a television series has been made, the series of books is also know as ‘The Last Kingdom’. I have read them all, at break-neck speed and I can’t wait for the next book!! Wintanceastre (Winchester) is based on a 10th century Latin manuscript. I have tried to stay close to the original letters, but since Latin does not have all modern glyphs, I found myself designing the missing ones. So, before you scold me for having made a font that is historically inaccurate: it was never meant to be an exact replica, nor would anyone want an exact replica, as it would be useless for modern texts and designs. Wintanceastre comes with a whole bunch of ligatures and alternate glyphs. Use it for any design that needs a little ‘Dark Ages’ look!

Christmas Reign is a very decorative festive typeface. It is a professional typeface, containing advanced but easy-to-use. OpenType functions, such as contextual alternates and ligatures. Woven is a geometrical typeface based on a simple tessellation or tiling pattern. The template for the letters has both vertical and horizontal symmetry and the tiling pattern has four-fold rotational symmetry. Variations of this pattern are popular with quilters and most have a woven look to them. To fit the letters into the template results in some distorted letters but it is the pattern that matters, not the individual elements of that pattern. With proper spacing, a block of text will fit together both horizontally and vertically. Woven is intended to be used with alternating letter sets and the OpenType feature of contextual alternatives does this automatically in applications that support it. The upper-case could be used alone but it unlikely that the lower-case characters could be used by themselves. The typeface is hard to read and would make a challenging font for word-search puzzles.

Rue is an organic, casually ornamental, narrow-faced sans serif. It is a display type structured with random traces of calligraphic tendencies. It does not begin with any noble ideals, other than to mediate between the muse of imagination and the act of realization. The spirited and exploratory design is the materialization of a feeling about fonts as a family of organisms taking on a life of its own, in work and play. Rue is the epitome of vanity and indulgence which seems to purpose itself well in aesthetics, wellness and botanicals. Its whimsical quality also suggests applications in the form of gifts and ornamentation. In retrospect, Rue was conceived as a typeface, used as an image and discovered as an ornament. Eckhardt Poster Text JNL continues Jeff Levine's series of sign painter-oriented fonts, named in honor of his good friend Albert Eckhardt, Jr. (who ran Allied signs in Miami, Florida from 1959 until his passing). Sign painters are the true heroes of lettering, for they make the alphabet and style fit the job. Printers and layout artists were constricted by metal and wood type; that is until photo lettering, then digital type opened up unexplored territories in design possibilities. There is a unique charm (and nowadays pretty much a lost art) to hand-lettering word copy in a way that draws the eye like an arrow to a target. Even a simple sanserif such as Eckhardt Poster Text JNL can have the effect of that hand lettering when applied to posters and pages with plenty of white space and matching type designs of the period.

Chapman is the result of spending too many hours staring at the often all-capital engraver typefaces from long-gone foundries. The wide serifs, high contrast, and various widths seem to have so much character but also remain so neutral. From these references, Chapman began to emerge. It seemed natural that the lowercase would be based on a Scotch Roman model, much like the original all-capital faces. Chapman does not pull directly from any one source but from the genres themselves. It was, from the beginning, the goal to create a typeface that would be relatively neutral but not boring; an adaptable solution that works anywhere and, depending on the chosen width, can be squeezed or stretched to fit anywhere. The idiosyncrasies of the original designs are tamed in some places and turned up in others. The result is something familiar but unique and contemporary.

When I released Halogen, I asked ‘Who doesn't want or need an expansive contemporary extended sans that has a sense of style and swagger… what if it had a lowercase, small caps and various numeral options… how could you say no?’ Go, click on the Halogen link and read on, if you're interested. Halogen was well-received, so I decided to take it further with Halogen Flare (the name kinda tips you off as to what kind of typeface it is, don't ya think?). As always, I prefer not to take short cuts and provide an anemic offering of glyphs — a modern typeface offered today must provide more than just the basics and this one does — lowercase, smallcaps, old style numerals, tabular forms, stylistic and titling alternates, fractions, case-sensitive features, and even an alternate uppercase ordinal set is included. Now, go make cool print and digital things with it.

The inspiration for the Okaytext family came from seeing so many fun, highly individualized special-use fonts. Alongside this massive selection, the choice of simple, plain & readable typefaces is relatively spartan. As a newly established foundry, we feel it a "must" to contribute our very best work to this important but oft-neglected genre of fonts. So the construction of the Okaytext family began. We feel that a rounded, sans serif font should be easily read, and very clean looking. It does not need to tire the eyes with any needless twists or silly quirks. So is Okaytext, it exists simply to be read, and hopes that it is a pleasant read. Okaytext is perhaps our most versatile font yet, its ultra-simplicity makes it adaptable to the demands of almost any typeset environment. The cover of the 1929 sheet music from the First National/Vitaphone picture “The Girl from Woolworth’s” had its title (“Someone”) hand lettered. This single word title was the model for Store Clerk JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions as well as solid and solid oblique versions (without an inline). A bold, casual sans serif with rounded ends and an inline, Store Clerk JNL is perfectly suited for projects where a strong, yet playful title is necessary to grab the reader’s attention. For those old enough to remember, Woolworth’s was a leading “Five and Dime” store chain, especially in the days when a nickel or a dime actually could purchase something.

LoveDuets is a family of two novelty fonts that have letters on hearts. There are at least five other font families on myfonts that have have letters on hearts but LoveDuets differs from them because it uses the OpenType feature of Contextual Alternatives (calt) to put two letters on each heart, one on the left side and a second on the right side. The two styles in the family can be used in layers to increase color possibilities. The brace characters have empty half hearts that can be used to replace spaces or to complete hearts at ends of lines. LoveDuets can be used when hearts are appropriate such as for Valentines Day, anniversaries, and weddings.

The productivity of the Berlingska Stilgjuteriet was made possible by the development of modern typeface art in Sweden in the 1950s. The typeface Berling was designed by Karl-Erik Forsberg for the Berlingska Stilgjuteriet in Lund. It belongs to the modern text typefaces and like most of these markedly shows the influece of the Neorenaissance. Berling Antiqua appeared in 1951 with a matching italic and by 1959, it was expanded to include five weights. Linotype offers Berling in four of them, roman and bold with their respective italics. In 2004 the Swedish publisher Verbum commissioned a complete redesign of Berling for the 21st century. Linotype assisted the designers of this new typeface, which came to be called Berling Nova.

The Linotype® Gujarati typeface was originally developed in 1983 by the Linotype letter-drawing studio under Fiona Ross’s art direction. This revival was designed by Gunnar Vilhjálmsson and Kalapi Gajjar with Fiona Ross as a consultant. The family has five weights from Light to Black. It is a traditional design, optimized for setting lengthy text copy for print projects or for use on screens. While faithful to the original design, Linotype Gujarati introduces many design improvements, additional weights, and an extended character set. This new Linotype Gujarati is part of a project to refresh the pivotal Linotype Bengali and Linotype Devanagari typefaces and make them available for the first time in the popular OpenType font format.

Selini Display is a font that incorporates the classic and the modern: “mathematical” curves, classic proportions, thin body, needle-like serifs. It brings the lightness and modernity present in the Didot style, with more classic and wide forms. It is composed of capitals and small capitals, and an extensive set of ligatures, initial and terminal swashes. It came in five widths: condensed, semi condensed, regular, semi expanded and expanded. Selini Display is a thin, elegant and light font ideal, for luxury-related designs, traditional events, fashion magazines and brands and any material that needs a delicate, light and refined touch. The Octa fonts are primarily intended for heading, display and decorative use. A close relative to Alert, Octa is angular by its structure but soft-outlined typeface with modern industrial strength expression. The Octa group fonts consist of five families - Octa, Octa Stencil, Octa Mono, Octa UniMono and Octa Tile: Octa and Octa Stencil - each family carry two weights of complete characters. Kerning pairs feature is included in both fonts. Octa Mono - two weights font of upper and lower case monospaced characters. Octa UniMono - two weights font of unicase (caps) monospaced characters. Skate is a multifunctional font family of a script in five weights and a bold complementary sans. Kwalett is a sans serif typeface family with low contrast and a high x-height. Kwalett has two widths, each with five weights and each weight has an italics. The family is derived from the thinnest member of the Qualettee family. As members of that family get bolder, their contrast increases. As members of the Kwalett family get bolder, their contrast remains very low. Kwalett is designed to work better as text than the Qualettee family. The family has two ways to get fractions. A few fractions are preformed and are accessed with the OpenType discretionary ligatures feature. The OpenType fraction feature uses the superscript and subscript numbers to create any fraction.

Singolare is a contemporary geometric Sans Serif with angular terminals and a great x height. Its main feature is the style difference between the lighter and heavier weights. The more weight it gains, the higher its singularity. With its weights, styles and layers variety, it's perfect for display use and short texts that require a visual impact. Singolare is composed by five weights, from Ultralight to Black. Every weight has its own stencil variation with expressive cuts and four decorative versions: three outline and one inline version, that can work on it’s own or overlapped to the black normal version (changing the colors of each layer) in order to amplify its usage possibilities.

“Growing up in Iceland, I was exposed to Scandinavian modernism from an early age. My parents had Arne Jacobsen furniture around the house and I was always enticed by the fun shapes and colors...."—SK Armchair Modern is derived from the logo created for Armchair Media Group by Stefan Kjartansson. The design is unabashedly ultra-modern, reminiscent of work by Mark Newson and the aforementioned Jacobsen. Armchair Media is a consulting company, working with clients from the Web and interactive TV, so the super-elliptical letterforms are also intended to evoke a traditional TV screen or CRT display. The complete family of five weights was co-produced by PSY/OPS in 2001.

Mellnik is a sans serif of humanist style (in a way) that was developed by Oleg Karpinsky and released by ParaType in 2006. The type family contains 9 styles with a number of alternate characters in each ones. For use as a text font in long text passages of advertising booklets, catalogues or magazines, as well as for accident setting. Mellnik may be also applied as a corporate typeface. Giant ink traps (or something like that) produce an original image of the family. Five condensed styles were added in 2007 by the same designer. Mellnik Text in 12 styles (added in 2008) has more narrow proportions and it is rather appropriate for text setting.

The "Zornale", is an original manuscript that contains a large amount of data, providing a daily record of the books acquired by the Venetian bookseller Francesco de Madiis, between 1481 and 1488. Zornale is a family of text fonts in five weights that can be combined with the variant Caption with short ascenders and descendants. The family is completed with true italics in two weights (light italics and italics) specially designed for use in reading texts. These fonts have been designed with precise kerning and full OpenType features: Small caps, old-style numbers, Swashes, stylistic and contextual alternates, ligatures and case-sensitive forms. Each font contains 549 glyphs for complete control and enhance typographic refinement.

FeggoliteKeyed has letters on rounded rectangles with shadows. The letter shapes are from a decorative, monospaced font called FeggoliteMono. The typeface contains characters that will add color to letters. There are two ways to do this. One uses layers and the other a combination of characters, some with zero-width. A file in the gallery explains the ways that this can be done.

Rebellious Brush marker font is a hand lettered brush script. What fun I've had from the beginning using pencil on paper to practising creating the glyphs with several types of markers! You'll notice that there are a couple of swashes in the preview pictures - I haven't advertised these because they are only accessible via a glyphs panel using the OTF file supplied.
