Art Gothic was attributed to the Central Type Foundry of St. Louis, Missouri, USA by Henry Lewis Bullen, writing in INLAND PRINTER in 1907, with a reproduction shown in Kelly’s American Wood Type. The typeface appears on the cover of an issue of “The Superior Printer” pictured in Typology by Heller and Fili dated in the 1870s. Art Gothic was designed in 1884 by Gustav Schroeder and proved to be one of the more popular and enduring of the American-designed Victorian display faces of the period, appearing frequently in ads in various publications. The Hamilton Mfg. Co showed a very similar wood type, No. 232, with a modified and rather heavy-handed upper case in 1892. As late as 1897, it may be found in the advertising section of The Ivy of Trinity College of Hartford, Connecticut and was included in the Norwood Press 1902 Specimen Book. Our font includes a complement of five upper case and four lower case alternatives as follows: 123=C, 125=E, 135=H, 137=S, 172=c, 175=e, 215=m and 247=s. Great for period pieces. ART GOTHIC HIH is clean, readable, and surprisingly modern-looking; unlike so many overly complex Victorian display fonts, it can be used in text sizes.

Titles from the 1938 movie "Service Deluxe" starring Vincent Price and Constance Bennett were the inspiration for the similarly named Art Deco typeface Service Deluxe JNL.

Compass TRF is a reevaluation of an existing Compass typeface dated 2002. Compass is a geometric contrast serif typeface - "contemporary Didone". New Compass consists of four styles—regular, italic, alternate and flourish initials with small caps. Compass TRF is recommended for use as display typeface. It is suggested that flourish initials font to be used for decorative purpose only, not basic typesetting. Compass TRF generated as OpenType single master format with Western CP1252 character set.

International is an homage to mid-century modernist trilines. The origin of this typeface is a Polish catalog cover dated 1936, made by I. Rubin. The word ”Graficz” (included in the poster copy) seemed appropriate as a name for this typeface with its typical ”Central European look”. The original letters are more ”thin” (light weight) than the MRF interpretation and only consists of capital letters. Lower cases and almost all standard character signs have been added, in order to make it more functional.

Ornata B is the second of a series of old ornaments that I am trying to save from oblivion. I am not just scanning these, I am completely redesigning the ornaments from scratch, thereby eliminating imperfections. These ornaments have been first designed by the Elzevier printer family from the Netherlands. The designs date back til the 17th century and I think they just had to be saved. Lunatica Display is a single weight, all capitals, slanted typeface ideal for titles and headlines due to its strong presence. It is constructed in a very modular fashion, stepping away from some typographic conventions, while keeping the form of its characters familiar and easily recognisable. This typeface is heavily inspired on the aesthetics of the space related sci-fi movie genre, specifically on the movie Moon (2009), directed by Duncan Jones and starring Sam Rockwell, from where it also picks up the inspiration for the name “Lunatica”. It was first designed as a branding exercise, thought to be the official typeface of Lunar Industries Ltd. — the company through wich the movie exists and unfolds. You can use Lunatica Display in more conventional contexts like branding but also in more experimental and futuristic-looking ways.
