Straight Line is essentially an outline Modern, but drawn without any curves whatsoever. Thin horizontals and thick verticals provide the classic look of a Didone, updated and enhanced by clean, minimalist geometry. In addition to the Straight Line font itself, the package includes Straight Line Solid with matching spacing and kerning. The Solid font can be used solo, or layered with the outline font to provide a colour background. Straight Line is an excellent display face for contemporary, eye-catching headings and sub-headings, and the fonts contain a full complement of Latin Extended-A characters. The typeface was inspired by a 1930s experimental alphabet by the British artist, Percy J Smith.

This is not an historically accurate font but rather one intended capture the spirit of ancient Roman manual type. It was inspired by various patterns used in documents and books created by Latin scribes between the second and fourth centuries. They used either calamus and ink on papyrus, or a pointed metal stick on wax tablets. We have created the font for contemporary use; distinguishing between U and V, I and J, which had no meaning for ancient Latin scribes, and adding thorn, Oslash, Lslash, W, Y and common accented characters that did not exist at the time. A lot of titlings and contextual alternates complete the set. Available only in TTF and OTF format.

In 1525, Albrecht Dürer, the well known German great artist, was publishing the so-called “Underweysung der Messung mit dem Zirckel und Richtscheyt”, printed in Nuremberg. This handbook explained with numeral figures how to draw with a compass and ruler. A large part is devoted to the drawing of Roman characters, which can be used as decorative initials. We are offering two complete historical initial sets and also have entirely redrawn the missing letters: J, U and W, Eth, Lslash, Thorn and Oslash in the two forms, using the Dürer style. The font may be used with all our Humane and Garalde fonts, like 1543 Humane Jenson or 1592 GLC Garamond and others from the GLC foundry catalog.

I love markets, especially the farmer’s markets with fresh produce and home made cheese. Too bad I need to travel a long way to get to one, as there is only a ‘regular’ market in my hometown - you know, with cheap duvets, ‘local’ fruit like bananas and a guy selling books about the end of times. I thought it would be great to create a font family you could actually use on a market. Hence Market Square. Amaro is the Italian word for bitter (amaro) herbal drinks like Ramazotti, Averna and a trillion lesser known ones. These liquors were the literal base for this elaborate set of four fonts. Each has different uppercase letters and some of the lowercase letters vary as well. Amaro-A, B, and C can be mixed freely. The Amaro-D has underlining swashes in two different lengths, the uppercase has the shorter underlines and the lowercase the longer ones. In 1905 Berthold released an engraved blackletter font called Prinzess Kupferstichschrift. Based on an old printed remnant, I revived this beautiful open-face fraktur and enriched it with several OpenType features. As usual in my blackletter fonts, the round ‘s’ lies on the number sign key, and a traditional number sign can be accessed via the Discretionary Ligature feature and typing 'N-r-period'. In this font you have also the possibility to turn I, V, X, L, C, D, and M into Roman numerals by activating the Stylistic Alternates feature. And last but not least, various useful ligatures polish up this font.

Sandbox was inspired by designs created by the Robert D. DeLittle Foundry in York, England, sometime after 1888. Calps is a condensed sans serif font. An unfussy design, the font is designed to be consistent across such letters as a, b, d, q, p, g and C, G, O, Q, creating a uniformity for the set. Each corner of the line is carved to decrease its sharpness, adding a touch of friendliness. Many of the world’s most recognisable brands in technology, retail, travel, food, manufacturing and other industries continue to be drawn to the straightforward, honest character that geometric fonts convey. Fontsmith set out in 2015 to develop a typeface in the same tradition, but optimised for the demands of modern brands – online and offline usage, readability and accessibility. And, of course, with the all-important Fontsmith x-factor built in. FS Lucas is the bold and deceptively simple result. Handle with care The letterforms of FS Lucas are round and generous, along the lines of Trajan Column lettering stripped of its serifs. But beware their thorns. Their designer, Stuart de Rozario, who also crafted the award-winning FS Millbank, wanted a contrast between spiky and soft, giving sharp apexes to the more angular letterforms, such as A, M, N, v, w and z. Among his inspirations were the colourful, geometric compositions of Frank Stella, the 1920s art deco poster designs of AM Cassandre, and the triangular cosmic element symbol, which led him to tackle the capital A first, instead of the usual H. The proportions and angles of the triangular form would set the template for many of the other characters. It was this form, and the light-scattering effects of triangular prisms, that lit the path to a name for the typeface: Lucas is derived from lux, the Latin word for light. Recommended reading Early geometric typefaces were accused of putting mathematical integrity before readability. FS Lucas achieves the trick of appearing geometric, while taking the edge off elements that make reading difficult. Perfectly circlular shapes don’t read well. Sheepman inspired by and based on retro William Page’s No.506 typeface which is popular wooden type fonts of the 19th century. To make soft and natural impressions, the original polygonal design was changed to rounded design. All glyphs had been designed carefully to be retro-looking of the old time and to fill all with nostalgia. Anultra Slab is, you guessed it... An ultra bold slab serif! Anultra Slab is a hard hitting headliner, designed to be set LARGE. Because it's a single weight typeface, no compromises were necessary to get it interpolatable with other weights, so it is as bold and tight as I intended. Features include automatic fractions, case-sensitive forms, ligatures, stylistic alternates for non-descending J and Q, and a 3D 'xtrude' style, which can be layered behind the regular to create two colour, photo-lettering style text. Very seventies. Very cool. A companion typeface, Alight Slab , is available at the other end of the weight scale, but there are no weights in between. You're no middle-weight designer, so why use middle-weight fonts?!

This family of two character monograms and initial letters was inspired from a French portfolio containing about two hundred examples of "Chiffres - deux lettres", destinated to engravers and jewelers, published in Paris in 1864, drawn by French engraver, C. Demengeot. Unfortunately, a large part of the pages were lost, so we have had to redraw about two thirds of the complete monogram family. Each package contains numerals and two complete sets of two-letter monograms, for example the A-B set, containing AA AB AC... corresponding to caps keys alphabet and BA, BB, BC... corresponding to lower case keys alphabet. We have added an Initial set, with two choices of single characters. Warning: I and J have strictly identical monograms.

This family was created inspired from the first font carved and cast in France, for the Sorbonne University’s printing workshop (Paris). The characters were drawn by Jean Heynlin, rector of the university - inspired from Pannartz’s - and in all probability was carved by Adolf Rusch. It has only one style, in one size (about 14 Didots points). We have added the U, J, W and Y, some accented characters and others not in use in the original, but the standard and historical ligatures and the numerous Latins abbreviations are these of the original font. The font is proposed in two choices : Basic Latin, MacTT & TTF, free for a private use, and “Pro”, TTF/OTF, available for standard basic Latin plus Central Europe, Baltic, Turkish, Croatian, Romanian, Celtic.

This is Canada Type's second Helmut Matheis revival. Rhino is what Matheis did under the name Mobil for the Ludwig & Mayer foundry in 1960. It's an informal text face with some attractive irregularities relating to the traits of handwriting. The influence of the human hand can be clearly seen in letters like the A, J, Q, R, T and pretty much all of the lowercase. Though obviously inspired by and tooled after the human touch, Rhino's functionality extends to even a page or two of text setting. Aside from its functionality, Rhino gives short paragraphs what the classic immersive-reading fonts are not built for: immediate friendliness and natural humility. Nucleometer is a very contrasting and at the same time elegant display font. It is ideal for large headlines and impressionable typography. A feature of the Nucleometer is the rounding of the lowercase letters a, b and r, as well as a funny "tail" in the letters t, g, j, f, t, y. This gives it a more lively and unique character. Another interesting feature is the increased proportion of the ascender height of Ultra Condensed, which is larger than the usual Bold font. Together, this font is ideal for a designer who needs stylish and very contrasting typography in his work. POSSIBLE is both sans and serif, either is possible. The typeface is a sans-serif impersonating a spur serif, or it’s a glyphic with the look and feel of a sans. This clean, contemporary family is inspired by Percy J Smith’s ’Petit Serif’ from 1928, and similarly takes inspiration from Johnston’s Underground, though more recent influences provide geometric and humanist elements that, together with the tiny micro-serifs, improve clarity and legibility. Spur serifs such as Petit Serif, Copperplate and Liberty are often caps-only fonts, but Possible contains a lowercase, as well as a full Latin Extended-A character set. Possible is available in five weights – Thin, Light, Regular, Medium and Bold – each supplied with a corresponding, optically-corrected italic.

Classic retro sans with some modern looks. Contrast vertical and horizontal lines in Bold style and elegant and airy Light style. This font has no lowercase letters, only the small caps which makes it very suitable for Headers, Logotypes, sub-headers, etc. This family has a French mid-century spirit with the alternate underlined O, inherent in that time, ligatures for L-pairs and T-pairs letters and some decorative alternates for A, C, H, J, O, Q, and U letters. The Le Bonjour has three widths: Bold, Regular and Light. Four styles for Bold and Regular: Clear, Offset Decor Line, Pressed and Stroke. And two styles for Light: Clear and Stroke. Niccolo Niccoli (1364-1437) was a wealthy bibliophile and an acclaimed scribe, in Florence (Italy). He was one of the most important Italian calligrapher in this early time of rediscovering Roman script. Of rare accomplishment was his adaptation of the so called Italian humanistic minuscule script. We were inspired from his late work to create this present Font. We have added a lot of accented and other characters (U/V, I/J...) who was not existing in the original and replacing "long s" by a small "s" for a modern use. The OTF encoding was used for intelligent alternates, permitting to use different forms of the same lower case or capital in a single word, reproducing easily the charming variety of a real manual scripture.

Typeface designer and Letraset type director Colin Brignall created the font Romic. The character of the strokes as well as the serif forms give the font its calligraphic look. The placement of the serifs, on the upper left and lower right of a character, also distinguishes this typeface and allows the figures to be set very close to one another. The dots on the i and j do not hang in the air, rather, they are connected to the rest of the letter with a light, serif-like stroke. The elegant and lively Romic font is legible even in smaller point sizes. It is best used in middle length texts and headlines and wherever an individual and sophisticated image is the goal.
