In Norse mythology, Yggdrasil is the tree of life, which grows right into heaven - maybe even space! It has deep roots, which grows into three different worlds. I made this font in hope that someone with a love to Norse mythology could use it - maybe even for something viking themed! I don’t think that the gods of Norse mythology ever heard of contextual alternates or multilingual support - but I added it, without even asking! - Yggdrasil has 5 different versions of each letter (in both Regular and Rough) and supports loads of different languages!

The inspiration for Deco Eccentrique JNL was initially hand drawn contoured lettering from a mid-1920s piece of sheet music; the style of the letters showing influences of the upcoming Art Deco movement. This was made into a digital font entitled Poster Contoured JNL. Once all of the excess parts of the previous design were stripped away to only the inner letters, the pre-Art Deco influences remained along with characters of varying stroke widths and shapes. This non-conformist type face is available in both regular and oblique versions.

This variation of Tangential (see also the Standard & Semi Serif variants) continues with the angles that give the typeface its name; however, the square terminals are half-rounded to create a softer and slightly more fluid styling. The Tangential style I envisaged for the family is complemented by the prominent use of negative space throughout, most apparent on the drop-shaped ‘o,’ which is a key feature of the typeface and a letterform I'm particularly pleased with. Online auctions offer a treasure trove of lost or forgotten merchandise, and many items pertaining to lettering just beg to be digitized into a typeface. Case in point is a partial set of brass stencils that were the visual model for Ultra Thin Stencil JNL. While most of the brass interlocking stencils available now and in the past have bold lettering for easy readability, this particular set consisted of condensed letters with thin lines. Cavita typeface is a mix between both grotesque and calligraphic models: regulars have a rough grotesque spirit; while the italics where inspired in calligraphic gestures. All of these details are reinforced with an inverted modulation (horizontals strokes are thicker than usual). The italics seem to move away from the traditional concept of type system, but work very well along side. This typeface has very particular shapes and rhythm, it's different and identifiable from the rest, making it a very good option to use on every piece of design.

Karben 205 is inspired by the classic, no nonsense DIN, and has a form that follows its highly legible function. Based on a lozenge, it has a clean and pure geometry with even stroke weights. Karben 205 is available in a family of five weights, and is also available with character variations as Karben 105. There are also monospaced variants of both Karben 105 and Karben 205 and a stencil version. Christopher Matthews originally drew Piccadilly for Letraset in 1973. Piccadilly is a decorative, all caps display typeface with a high degree of stroke contrast. All of Piccadilly's letterforms are made up of a single, curvy line. The thick" elements of each letter are five lives, while thin elements are made from one or two. In order for all of this detail to be clear, Piccadilly should be used in large point sizes, i.e., from 36-point on upward. Piccadilly's style is reminiscent of both the Art Deco and Disco eras."

Madley is a contemporary slab serif typeface. Featuring monolinear stems, elongated block serifs and teardrop terminals, the type family goes from a delicate Hairline weight to a heavy Black weight. Because of its range in weights and extensive Opentype features, it’s a perfect font for both text and display text settings. Alternative features include a wide array of swashes assigned up to 11 for select characters, combining ligatures in capital unicase settings, and stylistic alternates for some letters. A typeface based on early Constructivism Design and Early 20th Century Type form the Modernist Movement. Cap Height for the font has been extended to represent early 20th century typography more closely, while rounded shoulders add a contemporary, modern feel, allowing the design to bridge both centuries. Cobalt Bold works best for headers and titles, while Cobalt Medium and Regular lend themselves to body text. Cobalt Text has smaller Cap Heights, Ascenders, and Descenders, and has been designed where smaller leadings in a body of copy is needed.

Mafuta is a round, happy font, named for the Zulu word for "fat". In tribal societies in Africa, where food was often scarce and almost never easily come by, it was considered desirable to appear "well fed". Roundness was a symbol of high status in the tribe, and a sign of wealth. The up-beat, bold outline of the font celebrates the confidence of people who feel comfortable being who they are. The font manages to be both contemporary and African. It is best used for posters and for headings.

Her father named her Estella Dawn, or morning star. She truly shines bright, for as the owner of Stella Roberts Fonts, she has dedicated part of her net profits to helping her siblings pay for their medication; they both suffer from Cystic Fibrosis and diabetes. Calm in spirit, loyal to friends and family, nurturing and caring-- Stella has been a friend of Jeff Levine's for years. His Estella JNL font was dedicated to her, as is this other namesake font, Morningstar JNL. The design is a cross between retro-techno and a slight calligraphic touch.

Sanitation JNL is a bold Art Deco sans design inspired by some stylized hand lettering on a 1930s-era WPA (Works Progress Administration) poster and is available in both regular and oblique versions. The topic of the poster was "Your home is not complete without a sanitary unit" and that was recommended by the State Department of Public Health. A "sanitary unit" is the formal name for what rural folks called an "outhouse", and it's presumed the target group were homeowners not hooked up to major sewer lines such as in those rural areas.

Ciutadella Display is the extreme partner of the popular Ciutadella family for use in large sizes. The weight has been taken to the limit in both directions. It is available in Open Type format and includes Alternate Characters, Ligatures, Tabular Figures, Fractions, Numerators, Denominators, Superiors and Inferiors. Burdigala is a clean-cut, modern yet classic typeface inspired by Didones and Aicher’s Rotis family. The Semi Serif is ideal for larger amounts of (printed) texts in brochures, magazines and books. It is slighty narrow in order to conserve space, but spacious enough to faciliate reading and overall clarity. The expanded versions of the semi serif, being wider and more open, works equally well in media intended both for print and on-screen reading, e.g. in Pdf-documents etc. Burdigala is the ancient Roman name of the city of Bordeaux France.

The Women's Suffrage Movement gained women the right to vote in 1920. Up until then there were many ways undertaken to rally sympathy for the cause. In 1916 Alice Paul formed the National Woman's Party. That same year a song with the [exhaustive] sixteen word title "She's Good Enough to be Your Baby's Mother (And She's Good Enough to Vote with You)" yielded a hand lettered Art Nouveau sans serif design in the main portion of the title. This became the basis for Plain Nouveau JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Kondolarge is a slab serif typeface developed from our successful Kondolar in 2011. Based on a simple skeleton, straight sides, gently curved horizontals and sturdy serifs, Kondolarge is a bit more geometric than the prior. It is suitable for both text and display. With a well-built character set including small caps and several numeral styles. The font comes in 9 styles, ranging from a delicate Thin to Black, with matching italics, resulting in a total of 18 weights. Kondolarge contains a set of 800 characters that support over 200 Latin-based languages.

When I was painting this font, I suddenly had the movie Cool Runnings (1993, directed by Jon Turteltaub) in my head. I had to name the font, so I came up with Smooth Brushings. Of course, this font has nothing to do with the movie. Smooth Brushings is an all caps brush font, which was made with a stiff brush and some China Ink. Upper and lower case glyphs can be mixed. It is a very legible and clear font, ideally suited for posters, product packaging and book covers.

RMU Gilgengart is a revival of Hermann Zapf’s beautiful calligraphic blackletter font which was cut and first released by Stempel in 1952. This font comes with fine ligatures and swash letters. Before working with this font it is recommended to activate both OT features Standard and Discretionary Ligatures in order to get access to all ligatures. RMU Gilgengart contains the following swash letters: D, L, h, f, g, k, round s, and t, whereby you should use the small letters at the end of a word or slogan only.

Broadveau is retro typeface that embodies the feel of both Broadway and Art Nouveau. The upper case characters are standardized, while the lower case letters contains playful curvy alternates that give the font its character. While most fonts maintain a common baseline, and vary in height, some of Broadveau’s alternates vary on the baseline, making for an interesting, yet surprisingly readable, textual landscape. This is a title case font only, which contains all the standard sub-255 (upper case) unicode characters. With the alternates it’s almost like 2 fonts in one.

Designed primarily for editorial use, Silva is a superfamily ideal to typographically complex environments requiring a highly versatile typeface. With slightly condensed proportions, generous x-height, moderated ascenders and descenders and robust serifs, it is an extremely readable and economic type. Some words from the designer... Like long legs walking a runway in stiletto heels, ITC Cherie is both sophisticated and feminine. West coast designer Teri Kahan developed this art nouveau-style font into two distinct all capital alphabets – one with a “high waist”, placed in the capital position, and the other a “low-waist,” placed in the lower case position. They work separately or together, and this dual nature gives a designer the ability to make subtle changes in a logo or line of text. Additional flourished letters round out this versatile headline font.

It is reasonable to assume that a majority of people interested in typography will attempt some variation on the blackletter theme at some time or another. However, there seems to be a paucity of open-faced designs in this style and, having played around with a few thoughts, eventually I came up with RM Whiteletter. Light in appearance but classical in design, this clean looking open-face font provides a good counterpoint to more traditional blackletter designs. This font includes both the full Latin-1 Supplement & Latin Extended-A sets.

Hoxton North came out of the concept to create something distinctly British, drawing on modernist influences such as Edward Johnston's typeface for the London Underground and Gill Sans. A humanistic san serif typeface with a British modern quality. Open forms with subtle contrast promote good readability across a wide range of media in both print and screen. The compact letterforms give it a strong lateral dynamic that is space efficient across design layouts.
