Modern digital typography pushes many designers to try and achieve visual perfection with their lettering. In the days of wooden type, the premise was more in creating a font that "sold" the message (possibly, in part due to the lack of advanced tooling to achieve uniformity). In many styles of wood type (such as the one used as a model for Broadletter JNL), there are vast differences within the character design, weight and symmetry from letter to letter. This is now looked upon as "old fashioned" and "charming" - part of the appeal of this typeface.

Foundry Fabriek was inspired by the concepts behind industrial fabrication, where and how parts of materials or structures are united. The systematic grid, formed by stencil shapes, is indicative of the work of Wim Crouwel, consultant on the development of this typeface. The compact character widths of Foundry Fabriek are consistent over the five weight progression, giving flexibility for a variety of applications. The characteristic letterforms have an extra dynamic in large scale, perhaps in cast concrete or laser cut metal, to form integrated components in architectural or signage projects.

Zosimo is a neo-grotesque typeface created by designer Ron Gilad (Delicious Type) in cooperation with renowned typographer Oded Ezer based on his ubiquitous Alchemist typeface. MB Narrow is a very compressed display font that comes in three weights. with is full use of the 20 stylistic sets it gives the user a lot of scope to how it look. without using them it has a very rounded and geometric look but with alternates for the Capital A, M, N, V, W, X, Y and the lowercase a, f, g, v, w, x & y you can create a more traditional 'movie poster' look. with standard & discretional ligatures and oldstyle figures there are plenty of opentype features.

Too often, familiarity in type design can fool us into mislabeling similar styles of lettering. The Art Deco years provided many variations of the thick-and-thin alphabet, and we tend to lump all of them together as being "a version of Broadway", as this is the most popular of the genre. However, if one looks closely at each design, they will see variations of line thickness, angles and even individual character design. One such variation is Stagehand JNL, based on a set of wood type and now presented in digital form.

Surf and Turf JNL was redrawn from hand-lettering on a souvenir folder for an event believed to be sponsored by Miami Beach's exclusive Surf Club on March 19, 1938. Entitled "Steeplechase Pier March 19 Surf Club Stroller", it's now lost to time whether the event recreated some of the fun and games of Atlantic City's famed Steeplechase Pier at the Surf Club, or if this was a special event trip to the New Jersey venue. It's also highly possible that the Steeplechase Pier referred to in the title was the one at Coney Island.

Vegetability: “The quality or state of being vegetable”. Yes, I know: it’s kinda weird, but I quite like the name of this font! I am trying to become a vegetarian (I am a ‘flexitarian’ right now) and I was trying to find a good veggie recipe for dinner, when this name crossed my mind. Vegetability is a handwritten font with a dash of roughness, a splash of attitude and a pinch of class. Comes with a whole bunch of diacritics and double letter ligatures for the lower case letters.

The French publication “La Lettre Dans le Decor et La Publicite Modernes” (“The Letter in the Modern Décor and Advertising”) was a 24-page booklet showcasing the then-current trends of the time (circa late 1930s-early 1940s). On one page was found a squared, extra bold sans serif alphabet set with strong Art Nouveau influences, yet it was ahead of its time by taking on the look and feel of 1980s techno typography. They say “everything old is new again”, and Nouveau Techno JNL is now available digitally in both regular and oblique versions.

Jus Hangin was inspired by the lettering on the cover of the 1999 Counting Crows album, “This Desert Life”. It was one of those child-like lettering styles that was just begging to be fleshed out and made into a typeface that was as wild and carefree as the lettering inspiration. An original text and display type family was designed for ParaType in 2008 by Manvel Shmavonyan to be used together with Susan and Susan Classic, earlier released type families by the same author. This is a low-contrast sans serif font with open letterforms. Its shape is distinguished by rounded upper parts of lower case. Susan, Susan Classic and Susan Sans forms a super family coordinated on weight, style and proportions. Susan Sans is well suited for short and middle range text composing as well as for use in advertising and display typography.

I‘d like to introduce “Charlonka“ to you. When my daughter finished high school, she wanted to get rid of her entire school stuff. So I saved a few sheets of her beautiful handwriting and promised her to create a typeface out of it. That‘s how the idea of Charlonka was born, a typeface family out of Charlotte‘s handwriting (by the way: that‘s her name). Some characters of Charlonka have extended crossbars, like in upper case A or H, and reduced descenders, like in lower case g or y.

Wee Todd is a well-connected script font in the rough style of a lefty. Several of my closest friends are lefties and I, over the years, have carefully observed their writing style. For the most part they have unique, interesting handwriting and Wee Todd is a reflection of that style. Notice how Wee Todd’s characters connect. I’ve designed additional ligatures and characters into the typeface so that characters are substituted as you type (in OpenType savvy applications), giving the appearance of natural, spontaneous handwriting.
