Attempting to marry the warm friendliness of the Cubano typeface with the versatility, functionality, and geometry of Eurostile has resulted in Cubenzis. After finishing the regular weight, I realized that it reminded me of old Soviet military hardware, something you might see on the outside of a tank or rocket, so i made the decision to include a full Cyrillic alphabet as well. It feels very sci-fi to me and i can imagine it being used as signage on a ship or as a warning label on machinery.

Tiza is a rough take on informal faces and handwriting, brought on by the recent demand for scripts and brush lettering. A set of self-adhesive poster board letters once made by the E-Z Letter Stencil Company and sold under the name "Quik Stik" was the model for School Project JNL. Ironically, the line was discontinued because they did not stick very well - the weight of the cardboard caused the letters (which used a rubber cement type of glue) to pull away from the surface they were mounted to. Unlike vinyl self-adhesive letters (which were formulated for indoor or outdoor use) these cardboard sets were relegated to indoors only; further restricting their usability.

Nazhdak is a handwriting sans serif of three styles sketched with a felted pen and digitized afterwards. Designed in 2001 under the impression of Erik van Blockland's FF Kosmik typeface. Nazhdak is searching and investigating boundaries between regular and irregular typefaces. Vododeo JNL is directly named for the free-form sheet music title lettering from Jack Yellen and Milton Ager's "Vo-Do-De-O". The term itself was a catchphrase made popular during the era known as the "Roaring 20s". Yellen and Ager were responsible for such hits as "Ain't She Sweet" (1927) and "Happy Days Are Here Again" (1930) along with countless others. During his career, Jack Yellen provided lyrics to over 200 songs. As a side note, Yellen was married to a distant cousin of type designer Jeff Levine's late mother.

The front page headline of the April 6, 1917 edition of the Bemidji Pioneer [from Bemidji, Minnesota] says in extrabold letters: “State of War is Declared”. The subtext underneath reads: “President Signs Resolution 1:13 P.M., Passed by House 3 O’Clock this Morning”. Thus, the United States formally entered into World War I. However… that subtext was set in a sans serif type face which was a perfect addition to the numerous newspaper-inspired type revivals offered by Jeff Levine Fonts. A rather narrow and compact design, Monotype Clearface combines both old style and antique characteristics. The lowercase letters are tall, the ascenders and descenders quite short. The intention was to produce a typeface that was easy to read in small sizes, hence the name. Monotype Clearface Bold was first cut for mechanical composition in 1922, and was based on the Clearface Gothic design created by Morris Fuller Benton for ATF in 1910. Although designed as a text face, Monotype Clearface is now more commonly used in advertising and display work.

Creating the condensed version for the Brandon Text was the missing project to complete the Brandon series. Brandon Text was created as a companion to Brandon Grotesque. When we started to designed Brandon Grotesque Condensed we felt that there should also a condensed counterpart for small sizes; so we made Brandon Text Condensed. While a condensed typeface is not just a squeezed original, we took the Grotesque Condensed as a starting point for the Text Condensed version simultaneously we also kept an eye on Brandon Text to find the perfect missing variables.

Globe Grotesk is modern art deco inspired sans serif. Its root goes to beginning of last century into Czechslovakia. The design is inspired in Universal Grotesk – font made by unknown designer. There are some really unique details in the font, especially letters a, g, u, E, F, R, & and many more. It primary intended for display usage or rather shorter texts. The original is extended with full latin support, ligatures, small caps, alternates, inktraps, oldstyle figures and many more features necessary for contemporary type design. Also true italics are no doubt in this font.

Goudy Sans Bold was originally designed by Fredric Goudy in 1922 as a less formal "gothic" and finished in 1929. The light was designed in 1930 and the Light Italic in 1931. Alternate letterforms are included in these three Goudy designs which are digitized true to their original design. In 2006, designer Colin Kahn drew "LTC Goudy Sans Regular" which is a medium weight version intended for text purposes. Kahn has also designed an experimental "LTC Goudy Sans Hairline" which has a skeletal almost mono-width stroke and results in a surprisingly elegant display face.

The inspiration for this font made its first appearance in the 1897 American Type Founders specimen book, under the name "Lithotint". As the name suggests, the original was tinted gray (diagonal lines formed the body); this version is solid and spooky, too.
