A gothic blackletter font named after the Parler master builder family which built the Schwaebisch Gmuend cathedral. This font contains a bunch of useful ligatures, and by typing 'N', 'o' and period plus activating the Ordinals feature you get an oldstyle numbersign. In this blackletter font the # key is occupied by the 'round' s.

Northstream is a Neo-Grotesque in motion. The typeface was inspired by an attempted photograph of an interesting shop sign that was interrupted by a passing truck. The resulting effect was a blur of movement and designer, Hendrik Weber, wanted to capture that feeling within the typeface. The result is a whirlwind of a design and the shadow behind the letterforms creates a very interesting effect. This typeface is meant for graphic designers to enjoy and play around with, and it is best suited for display text and large sizes such in posters and billboards. Northstream was designed as part of the Font Marathon that was run at the Monotype London office in November 2016. This version is available for free and because of the short time frame is supporting a Basic Latin character set and a few alternates.

An interesting, unusual and righteously funky variation on the classic “Barnum” style of lettering, this typeface was originally named "Dado". As any woodworker knows, dado is also the name of a slot ploughed, chiseled or cut in wood: in other words, a groove thang. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin and 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan) character sets.

Signs of Yesterday JNL brings another twenty-six vintage signs inspired by a series of decals once made by the Duro Decal Company (now Duro Art Industries) of Chicago. This font complements the original twenty-six designs found in Too Much Information JNL. There are two blank sign panels on the parenthesis keys for use in creating custom retro signage.

This ‘pear-shaped’ typeface literally defines its original design inspiration in the first capital letter. The idea for Granat goes back to my mysterious typeface Telepiu and later Teleneue. The straight horizontal bars in combination with the round joins create a very unique character. With Granat I wanted to push this style even further. Like in Teleneue Granat comes with a monocase version without any ascenders or descenders for all 7 weights from Regular to Ultrabold.

Martinaz is a retro inspired, bold script typeface created for use in logos, posters or packaging. Through the use of extensive Opentype features, this font offers variable letter combinations that can easily be integrated or mixed. An added feature is the inclusion of a few typographic fleurons that can either be used with the text or as icons in your design.

This statuesque semiscript is based on Mirabelle, an in-house design from the German foundry of Wagner & Schmidt, released in 1926. Round, firm and fully-packed, it's sure to get attention anywhere it's used. The 1935 catalog for Vitrolite (a brand of pigmented structural glass) featured artist renderings of how the glass could be applied to business exteriors. One of the lettering styles used in these examples was an Art Deco lower case. This design has been turned into a digital typeface called Retail Establishment JNL and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Samuel Welo’s “Studio Handbook for Artists and Advertisers” (published in both 1927 and 1960) showcased this talented man’s hand-lettered alphabets; used as inspiration for the sign trade and for graphic designers. A particularly interesting slab serif from the 1960 edition has many unusual character shapes, and served as the model for Casual Slab Serif JNL – available in both regular and oblique versions.

Kwark is a nice, cartoonesque outline font with a bit of grunginess. Yes, it is an all caps font, but upper- and lowercase letters differ in shape, so you can mix and match. The name is not really related to the way the font looks: kwark means 'curd' in Dutch. You think that sounds delicious? Well, then give Kwark a try!

Grafiker means 'Graphic Designer' in German. This fat, colored, uneven font with a 1001 uses was loosely based on the work of designers Oskar Kokoschka (1886 - 1980) and Jean Carlu (1900 - 1997). The glyphs were hand-drawn with a 0.5 roller ball and colored in with Chinese ink, using a stiff brush. The result is a lively, rather unusual font.

Based around the Australian boomerang, Greg Bastin’s design originally appeared on private Christmas cards and individual projects. It was formalized into a font in 2002 by David Philpott (JY Circles) and brings a quirky antipodean style to the JY&A Fonts range. This display family is available in Solid and Outline forms, the latter containing patterns that parody those of Aboriginal culture.

Designed at ParaType in 1989 by Alexander Tarbeev. A modern replica of the typeface by Giambattista Bodoni, the Italian punchcutter and typographer of the late 18th century. Bodoni was a director of printing house of Duke of Parma in Italy. His early types were based on those of Fournier and Didot, but he developed the designs to become what are now considered to be the first modern typefaces. His letters have strong vertical stress, sharply contrasting thick and thin strokes and unbracketed hairline serifs. The contrast of thick and thin in Bodoni typefaces can produce a sparkling effect on a page: should be carefully used in texts; good for headlines and display. Condensed and decorative styles were added in 1993–97.

Here's a fun collection of cute, weird, crazy and goofy drawings. They are all drawn within a box, which makes it easy for you to align them in a grid, or perhaps make your own colouring book or picture lottery. The shapes of the drawings are typically simple: triangles, circles, squares etc. I use drawings like these in my work as a kindergarten teacher. These simple, but yet appealing drawings, are a great inspiration for kids (especially the ones who never draws or are insecure on how to draw) to start drawing themselves, or as a kickstarter for their imagination!

Monotype Bembo is generally regarded as one of the most handsome revivals of Aldus Manutius' 15th century roman type, but the original had no italic counterpart. The story is told that Stanley Morison commissioned Alfred Fairbank, a renowned calligrapher, to create the first italic for Bembo, which was released as metal fonts in 1929. Alfred Fairbank, however, claimed that he drew the design as an independent project and then sold his drawings to Monotype. According to him, the statement has been made that I was asked to design an italic for the Bembo roman. This is not so. Had the request been made, the italic type produced would have been different." Whichever version you believe, it was obvious that Fairbank's design - while undeniably beautiful - was not harmonious with Bembo roman. A second, more conventional italic was eventually drawn and added to the Bembo family. Fairbank's first design, which was based on the work of sixteenth-century writing master Ludovico degli Arrighi, managed to have a modest life of its own as a standalone font of metal type. It never made the leap into phototype fonts, however, and the face could have been lost, were it not for Robin Nicholas, Monotype Imaging's Head of Typography in the United Kingdom, and Carl Crossgrove, a senior designer for Monotype Imaging in the US. Nicholas and Crossgrove used the original drawings for Fairbank as the starting point for a new digital design, but this was only the beginning. They improved spacing, added subtle kerning and optimized the design for digital imaging. In addition, Nicholas created an alternative set of lowercase letters, fancy and swash capitals and enough alternate characters to personalize virtually any design project. By the time his work was complete, Nicholas and Crossgrove had created a small type family that included Fairbank, a revived version of the earlier metal font, and Fairbank Chancery, a more calligraphic rendition of the design. An additional suite of ornate caps, elegant ligatures, and beginning and ending letters accompanies both fonts, as does a full complement of lowercase swash characters. Now, instead of a failed Bembo italic, Fairbank emerges in its true glory: a sumptuous, elegant design that will lend a note of grace to holiday greetings, invitations, and any application where its Italianate beauty is called for."

Get your Aussie on! The new typeface, Ainslie, with its mix of influences from Oz, makes its mark as the first semi-serif from insigne Design. Ainslie, named for Mt. Ainslie and Canberra’s inner suburb of the same name, was originally developed for the Canberra Australia Centennial Typeface Competition. Canberra is Australia’s capital, and it’s a planned city designed by American Walter Burley Griffin, a contemporary and one-time associate of Frank Lloyd Wright. Griffin’s plan involved a distinctly geometric design with several focal points--one of which was Mt. Ainslie. This same purely geometric scheme is now the basis for insigne’s new release. Similar to the Chatype project in its scope, its challenge, and the way its concept was developed, Ainslie incorporates influences from Canberra and surrounding areas to form a font that is uniquely Australian. In comparison, Chatype was developed for the city of Chattanooga, Tennessee by insigne in conjunction with designer Robbie de Villiers. Chatype took elements from Chattanooga’s industrial character and Cherokee past and merged them with the area’s technological influences. Likewise, Ainslie takes Canberra’s distinct, geometric design and blends it with the organic, flowing effect of aboriginal art. Add in touches from the smooth, aerodynamic design of the boomerang and Ainslie gives you a look uniquely Australian yet usable in a wide range of applications. The fashionable typeface includes a multitude of alternates that can be accessed in any OpenType-enabled application. These stylish alternates along with a number of swashes as well as meticulously refined details with ball terminals and alternate titling caps keep the font well accessorized. Also included are capital swash alternates, old style figures, and small caps. Peruse the PDF brochure to see these features in action. OpenType enabled applications such as the Adobe suite or Quark can take full advantage of the automatic replacing ligatures and alternates. This family also offers the glyphs to support a wide range of languages. While Ainslie wasn't selected as the final font in the Canberra competition, the outcome allowed for additional adjustments to the typeface. Several approaches were attempted for the final product including a technological hexagonal concept, which may still be developed to another form later. Some of the organic forms were removed and substituted with more abrupt endings, leaving the face looking pretty spiffy and a fair bit more legible. In the end, Ainslie was pulled back to the basic forms from which it was started. Give it a go for your next project. It’s guaranteed to be anything but a barbeque stopper.

Grand Slam is based on an old cardwriting style known as Poster Gothic. This dynamic letterstyle was used in the heyday of the Hollywood movie poster because of its powerful and snappy appeal. The face is of uniform thickness and made as wide as possible without interfering with legibility. Its vertical strokes seem to be thickened slightly where normal serifs would be. Arabetics Aladdin is a monoshape font family with a fixed single shape per each Arabic Unicode character. Glyphs are designed to incorporate the traditional Arabetic visual characteristics found in all four varying shapes, isolated, initial, medial, and final, for each letter. The overall design also emphasizes the line-like (khat) horizontal look and feel of the Arabetic scripts without sacrificing legibility. This font family supports all Arabetic scripts covered by Unicode 6.1, and the latest Arabic Supplement and Extended-A Unicode blocks, including support for Quranic texts. Genia is a script typeface that carries roundhand calligraphy DNA. Instead of using pointed nib pen, Genia was created using a fine brush resulting in clean and wavy character. With the OpenType features, Genia creates the natural feel of calligraphy writing. This contextual feature makes the font 'smart'. It knows which letters are the initial and which one is the finial. The feature can be activated in the OpenType section under the names of CALT or Contextual Alternates. Genia also gives you old style and proportional number options. Our advice is always turn the contextual alternates, and don't use the OPTICAL kerning on Adobe softwares. The preview on this site does not support the contextual alternates.

The sans serif linear antiqua Maxima which was created in the beginning of the sixties by Prof. Gert Wunderlich for Typoart Dresden, was newly actualized in 2007 after more than 45 years. Many hands and heads were involved in the successful re-design of Maxima Now over a period of two years to assist the designers of the Elsner+Flake Design Studios in Hamburg, and the typeface family is now available. The re-design happened in close cooperation with Wunderlich who has given support to numerous projects in Elsner+Flake’s studio in Hamburg. A great deal of care was given to the necessary preliminary tasks such as the viewing of the original designs and print tests, the analysis of the digital Typoart data which had been in the possession of Elsner+Flake since 1985 and 1989, and a design conceptualization based on detail correlations, as well as the extension of the character complement. It had been Elsner+Flake’s goal to include as many of the existing Maxima cuts into the re-design program as possible. The result is an extended font family with 25 weights in EuropaPlus layout.

This handy font allows designers of commercial products to add basic circled letters that are uniform in appearance. For example, on music CDs, the Copyright and Publish (AKA Phonogram) symbols often do not match. While most fonts include a circled 'c' for Copyright, they seldom contain a circle 'p' for Publish (note that all P22 fonts include the circle 'p' and 'c'). The circle 'U' and 'K' for Kosher foods are rarely included in fonts and have to be made as needed. EngelNewSerif came about as a sibling to EngelNewSans as a corresponding serif family also of 12 weights, matching those of EngelNewSans. Both families are designed for a wide usage in running text and headlines. EngelNewSans is an evolved version of the original Engel typeface, which undergone improvements to the individual letterforms and the overall look which resulted in this sans serif type family with a more mature confident character and with softer, rounder and more harmonious shapes. The characteristics between the two could perhaps, very fittingly, be compared to a person showing different sides to their personality at different stages in life. With EngelNewSans portraying the more mature role while the original Engel shows traits of a cool teenager with rough edges, not yet fully developed. To make the light weights function with serifs attached for EngelNewSerif, the same low stroke contrast as seen in EngelNewSans was applied. Further discovery found that the serifs and the stem width had to be optically similar for the light weights not to appear too fragile. In the heavy weights however, the stroke contrast was higher than in the Sans versions, this was done to open up the counters and make room for the serifs to breathe. The intention of the families is to motivate an element of play and give the designer a larger selection to work with.

I have been walking around the streets of Bangkok with my good old film camera taking photos the way like back in the day. I think there is something magical and authentic in it. Guess what, the first day I went out with that camera I stumbled upon a place is called Fotoclub BKK they develop film rolls how cool is that! I shoot all the 36 photos at the Silom area, taking random photos most came out off centred subject, wrong settings, blurry just like the way I wanted! Soon after I was working on a handwritten script that is a perfect match to the overall topic of my stay in Bangkok so I named it after this exceptional adventure I have had here. The font contains all European diacritics and special characters, some double letter ligatures and stylistic alternates for better flow and more organic and natural look.
