The Art Nouveau styles of the the turn of the 20th century (1890 - 1905) exhibited a bold approach to organic lines and lavish decoration. This new style was spread throughout the world and helped usher in a new era that led to modern art and design. Art Nouveau SCF is strongly influenced by the style of decoration and typography created by Rennie Mackintosh as well as the Art Nouveau movement in general (with particular reference to Gustave Klimt and Alphonse Mucha). However, it differs from much of the art nouveau typography in that it largely avoids the use of straight lines in its letter forms. It is a decorative, romantic font and its subtly curved bolder lines contrast with delicate tracery to create an intricate pattern of organic flowing shapes. Zombie Apocalypse is way more versatile as its name would suggest. It might be used as a horror font (red color tones in horror games, movie covers) or in ads for an Offroad Experience Tour (or wherever it comes to dirt, mud and spatters in combination with brown tones). When used with light blue/red/yellow/orange colors, the font can express creativity and freedom (on fashion, inspirational art and advertising) because it is not bound to classic straight-lined fonts. In various shades of gray or in black, it can be used to support a "worn out" look. Here's a flashback to the sixties, which originally went by the rather unimaginative name of Triline. It's available in two versions: regular and swash caps. In the swash version, the uppercase Q is a "Qu" ligature; a plain Q is located in the ASCII circumflex position (SHIFT+6 on PC or Mac). Named for the heroine of a medieval romance. The Postscript and Truetype versions contain a complete Latin language character set (Unicode 1252); in addition, the Opentype version supports Unicode 1250 (Central European) languages as well.

On the one hand Chateau is almost palatial but at the same time it has a quite earthy personality as represented by the stenciled strokes. However, this stencil effect serves to refine the strokes by creating the illusion of a completed thin stroke. Chateau is more of a hybrid roundhand script with its contrasting ornate capitals. Originally a fortified residence in France was called a Chateau. Today there are many estates with true Chateaux on them in Bordeaux, but it is customary for any wine-producing estate, no matter how humble, to prefix its name with "Chateau". This is true whether the building itself is a magnificent palace or a shack. The distinctive chateau architecture was in inspiration for the name of this script. Chateau is ideal for packaging design, invitations, announcements, headlines, brochures, menus, weddings, scrapbooking, etc. Chateau is available in Opentype, Postscript and Truetype for Macs and PCs.

One of my earliest memories of being able to write - an exciting skill - was of writing with my finger in the fine soft sea sand. I remember the freedom - I had no fear of making mistakes, of smudging ink or of doing anything wrong - and the ease with which I could write or wipe out any thing in the sand. Designing SandWriting was a tribute to those early memories. The font was an attempt to capture the simplicity and ease of a finger effortlessly making its mark in the sand. It can be used in many ways: in menus and invitations, in newsletters and advertisements, and in scrapbooks and brochures. It might be particularly useful for written material aimed at younger people. SandWriting contains all upper and lower case characters, all punctuation and special characters as well as all accented and standard European characters.

Full of texture and regal personality, Bell Martellus was derived from a book published in 1475 by Henricus Martellus entitled “Liber Insularum.” The writing style is based on the Carolingian Script created by the Emperor Charlemagne and his scribe, Alquin of York, in the 9th century A.D. This old world lettering comes with new world OpenType capabilities, including swash caps and small caps. The James Ford Bell Library at the University of Minnesota commissioned Bill Moran to develop this font as a means of introducing their amazing collection of rare books, maps and manuscripts to a wider audience. Once the historic script was fontified by Bill, it was forwarded to Chank Co, where we added some snazzy baubles for the discriminating typographer. Everybody can enjoy the antique genuine nature of Bell Martellus, but advanced OpenType users also get extra features in Adobe CS applications.

Firmin Didot is credited with establishing the Modern genre of serif typefaces, of which Beaux Arts Didots stands as an exemplary model. Like the French neoclassical architecture of its namesake, Beaux Arts has all the hallmarks of the early nineteenth-century style: a clear and confident construction consisting of simple yet strong lines. Use it for elegant and formal settings, or when a direct typographic tone is desired. Mix it with styles of similar sensibilities such as Plinc Hanover and Davison Spencerian. The Keiss type family is our interpretation of the popular nineteen century Scotch Roman typefaces. We intended to keep a very classic approach while introducing a couple of new elements that differentiate this type family from it’s ancestors. This design, with short descenders and ascenders, along with three very distinct optical sizes makes this type family well suited for contemporary newspapers. The Title and Big versions range from Thin to Heavy, with matching italics, in order to be used in big sizes and stand out in the design. The Text ranges from Thin to ExtraBold and is a standalone type family for text usage, with narrow proportions and wider and open italics for improved text setting. The Condensed versions, ranging from Thin to Bold, don’t have italics, although they can be matched with the italics of the Title and Big versions, due to the fact they are very condensed.

While we can’t comment of the suggested definitions for ‘tuggle’ that you might encounter online, we are happy to expound on Tuggle’s quirky and endearing characters. The gravity of its bellbottom slab-serif structure is mitigated by soft rounded corners, while surging swashes and globular stroke endings further attenuate Tuggle’s otherwise would-be uptight tenor.
