In its heyday, the Starlight Room of the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City quite frequently printed lunch and dinner menus for not only their rotating bill of fare, but also for special events held there. The 1937 Electrolux (Eastern) Appreciation Banquet has its own menu cover, and the lettering was in a simple, yet Art-Deco influenced condensed block design with squared features. This simple and quirky typeface has been digitally redrawn as Sales Convention JNL, and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Morro is based on simple geometric shapes – circles, triangles and rectangles. Imagine cutting circles, triangels and rectangles from paper and arranging them into letters where the outer edges form a filled figure. Arranging figures like this to form letters is nothing unique. You can find several beautiful examples of alphabets that inspired the creation of Morro. Everywhere from a 1936 booklet by Draughtsman called ”Modern lettering for all branches of commercial arts” to obvious examples is from the paragon of the design industry - Milton Glaser - with his typeface Baby Teeth. What sets Morro apart from other digitized versions of Glasers' ”Baby teeth”, or other similar designed fonts, is that Morro is expanded into lower case and also supports Basic latin, Western European, Central European, south Eastern European and Pinyin. There are also stylistic alternatives to some of the glyphs. Morro Regular works like a stencil and is accompanied by a block shadow style and an outline. The Morro family of fonts are layered and can be superimposed on each other to create several types of text effects.

Lettering has an unusual way of adapting itself to many needs. The type style for Sporting Chance JNL was based on metal house identification letters used for Welcome Home JNL. The same type of block design was prevalent in 1920s-1930s era window signage via die-cut foil characters. Yet we tend to nowadays associate block lettering with sports-themed items. No matter the application, Sporting Chance JNL will fill the bill.

This display decorative slab-serif typeface, contain reverse contrast which remind the old western style, there are also stencil version available (Invertida St). Invertida font family contain Latin and Cyrillic encoding characters and italic versions are also available too. The Ctoxina family is growing. Due to the success the author decided to add an outline version of the font. Record Store Stencil is based on classic stencil lettering from the first half of the 20th century. The font features Upper and lowercase, small caps, in upright, italic, and backslant. The font's multipart letterforms are ideal for color application. Available are two color variations, Black with Red accents and Blue with Red accents, with cycling activated through contextual alternates.

Rock Face was inspired by a crude but effective home made sign I came across advertising a garage sale. The lettering was created using sticky black insulation tape which, like a child's drawing, had a certain naive charm. The type design presented here is obviously more considered, but I like to think it has the same raw dynamism.

Modeco is a merge of modern and art deco styles. Its shown elegance, classy, ??and glamour look as 1920's visual trends, blended with geometrical sans serif in a functionality approach and complete font family styles. Austrian type designer Markus Hanzer created this display FontFont in 1994. The prolific hand lettering of Samuel Welo is showcased in his “Studio Handbook for Artists and Advertisers” (published in both 1927 and 1960). A thick and thin Art Deco design in the 1960 edition – somewhat reminiscent of Futura Black (but with significant differences) is now available as Sign Work Deco JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

A 1932 fan magazine from Spain entitled “Films Selectos” (“Select Films”) had those words hand lettered in a decorative Art Deco type style that was a cross between the “Futura Black” style of stencil influenced display lettering and “Fiesta” lettering. This hybrid design is now available digitally as Dance and Sing JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

Braggadocio is a very black typeface. Braggadocio is a strange hybrid with characteristics of both sans serif and modern faces; and it belongs very much to its time. Like high society in the 1920's, it should not be taken too seriously. Use the Braggadocio font for display lines in advertising, magazines and light hearted communications.

I often experiment with different shadow techniques. One day I accidentally scaled, instead of repositioning, some black text behind the white copy on top and noticed something very different and interesting happen. It was an intriguing effect. It took some clever handiwork to make it work properly across the entire alphabet. And behold, Eclipse was born.

ITC Symbol font was designed by Aldo Novarese, a simple, straightforward design of understated elegance. It has just the hint of a serif to aid legibility. Book and medium weights have a light, even color and are perfectly complemented by the bold and black weights. The italics are clear and simple, a comfortable companion to the roman.

The type family “Curlaight” has whimsical curly shapes but has some level of uniformity with straight lines and angles. These modern retro feel fonts look great for children’s books, posters, book covers, packaging labels, or even logos like TV and movie titles. Birch Beer JNL comes from lettering spotted on a European business sign found in some stock footage that was used for an old black and white film about World War II. The name is derived from a popular root beer-like soda sold by the Royal Castle Restaurants that were popular in Florida from the 1930s through the 1970s.

Corvone is a heavy bullnosed display family, inspired by the post war era's ideas of modernity. Two faces are offered, plain—a solid black face, and regular—which employs a three-dimensional pipeline effect to add real emphasis. Use Corvone to give work a retro feel, and/or where you want to really drive your point home.

Breathless was inspired by movie posters of the Nouvelle Vague era when Jean Seberg and Jean-Paul Belmondo were young and films where in black and white. So I named this very spiky affair after that phantastic movie of my youth A bout des souffle or like it was called in English, Breathless. -Your breathless type designer, Gert Wiescher

Dermaks - A modern typeface with unusual shapes. The starting point were intuitively drawn glyphs that gave the impression of being cut in paper. It goes well with colors and black and white. The font is intended to provide a distinctive original form. Intended for slogan designs, headlines, logotypes, clothing designs, posters and all designs with an intriguing style.

Sturdy is designed to be as black as possible yet still legible. As an OpenType Pro font it has my normal complement of around 500 characters. New to this font I have added what I call ordinals: first through tenth in addition to Caps, lowercase, small caps, lining, oldstyle, and small caps figures, ligatures, and so on.

Ferpa is Typeóca's Fierciest Font Family. Drawn using only straight lines, Ferpa uses every kink, every kink and every serif as an opportunity for expressivity. From Thin to Black in both Roman and Italic constructions, Ferpa is available as 18 otf static font files, with a character set that goes a little beyond Latin Extended A.

Arya Rounded is a display typeface, based on Roman proportions. It has three versions, differentiated by the amount of the drawn lines. Single is solid. Double is sturdy but light.
