Warrior is a chunky typeface design inspired by a Russian Egyptian-style block alphabet (original designer unknown). The Book of Kells is a handwritten Irish text which dates back to the 8th century. Kris Holmes and Janice Prescott digitalized some letters from this book and some from a Grotesk font in the style of Frutiger. A computer filled in the blanks and the designers then gave the font its finishing touches by hand.

A companion to Springsteel (sans), this serif typeface is intended for longer text blocks and smaller sizes. Like the sans-serif, it has unusual construction using curves on the outside and straight lines inside characters, giving it quite an expressive and warm feel. It contains small caps and old-style figures, as well as superior/inferior figures and common fractions and mathematical symbols. It supports Western plus Nordic, Eastern European and Turkish languages. Excellent spacing and extensive kerning (over 2800 pairs) provided by Igino Marini/iKern. A tessellation is a shape that can be used to completely fill the plane—simple examples are isosceles triangles, squares, and hexagons. Tessellation patterns are eye-catching and visually appealing, which is the reason that they have long been popular in a variety of decorative situations, such as quilting. Most of the shapes in TessieSpinners suggest a spinning motion. Most do not resemble real world objects. The TessieSpinners fonts contain shapes that can be used to construct tessellation patterns. Roma Initial Caps JNL is a set of alphabet caps drawn from elegant lettering found in an old sign painter's manual. The upper case keys have the letters in white on black backgrounds, while the lower case has the letters in black on a white background with a black border.

Neuron puts a chemist's twist on standard block-style print to create a fresher version of the elemental alphabet. Widely spaced letters and a slightly tall x-height have a clean effect for great readability. Squarish shapes are stylized to retain curved tails, achieving a neutral appearance that makes it very versatile. A thick width in ExtraBold, Black and Heavy give stand-out strength for headlines and branding, without affecting legibility. The block style lettering with rounded corners found on a package for model railroad kit parts was the inspiration for Model Railroad JNL.

The Aspasia is a decorative low contrast sans serif type family suited both for editorial and corporate design, available in five weights, ranging from Thin to Black. It was designed by Mikus Vanags in 2009 influenced by art-deco geometric typefaces and mastered for the needs of today. The Aspasia OpenType fonts have and extended character set to support Central/Eastern European languages like Polish, Czech and Latvian. The font includes old style and lining figures, regular and discretionary ligatures and multiple stylistic alternates.

Hakan is an modern display font with an Arabian look. This font particularly for those not native to Arabic languages. Hakan try to bring back the Baghdad and Alladin memories to your design or typography. The font suits creative titling on both web and print, perfect for scroll text. Jochen Schuss designed Linotype Paint It in 1997 with exclusively capital letters and in two weights. The best way to describe the weight Paint It might be to compare it with a labyrinth in which the figures only become clear to the reader dedicated to finding them. The second weight, Paint It black, is almost the solution to this puzzle. The characters are black and stand out strikingly from the background. Linotype Paint It is particularly good for headlines in large point sizes or wherever a text should display a playful character.

Kevin King says: "When I started this font it was called Pestle... It didn't run - it didn't even walk. At some point I thought, Hmm! Looks a bit like Liquorice! And now... Voila! I remember being able to buy about a yard of Liquorice rolled round a central comfit - how fab! Tuppence worth of sticky afternoon! You could also buy bundles of Liquorice root - which looked like black twigs with bright yellow wood - they left my teeth full of black twiggy bits... The past is a strange Lady - Bless her! Stanzer is an interpretation of wood type combined with the idea of modern stencils. Instead of cutting every letter, we are presenting an example of how a modern stencil typeface could look like, as we have come to the conclusion that almost every letter works without cutting it. Stanzer is a Unicase typeface, available in three OpenType weights: Black, Shadow and Block. Stanzer first started as part of our diploma 2010 (it was called Stanley at that time). The basic idea behind this typeface is that it is fully stencil usable, and, unlike other stencil fonts, does not require any bridges (except for the O and Q). Almost every letter can be sprayed without inserting planks. However, Stanzer also offers the display weight Block, which is only suitable for print or online usage.

Schwarz is a Black Letter typeface inspired by all that is black. Jagged edges and sharp diagonals make Schwarz a head banging font. Some stylistic alternates and ligatures are also available.

Jill Bell's typefaces are energetic, highly decorative, and refreshingly unpredictable. Some are friendly and childlike, while others are rough and nervous. Her latest creation is ITC Swank, a connected script whose shabby-chic" sophistication communicates a worn elegance. Bell begins the design process "with black stuff on white paper," she explains, preferring to draw letters before she digitizes them. Often the inspiration for her typefaces comes from a piece of hand-lettering. "Bruno began as a reminder to buy cat food," she says, "and ITC Swank started out as a small bit of lettering for Wurlitzer Pianos." Bell finds that working with blocks of lettering is a good start for script typefaces. "If I'm drawing a script typeface, I have to write out sentences in the letters first," she explains. "Drawing each letter separately doesn't establish the flow and spontaneity that scripts deserve." Bell's newest design is ITC Swank. It's a somewhat tattered formal script with definite links to early copperplate scripts. Though probably not for wedding invitations, Swank's elegant underpinnings are evident, with its slightly narrow proportions and a baseline that can best be called "bouncy." Graphic designers will appreciate the abundance of swash letters, making it easy to create distinctive headlines and short blocks of copy. Bell has a fondness for the "open, genuine" quality of Chinese and Japanese calligraphy. "Eastern styles incorporate the natural flow of the hand," she says. "Natural, human qualities shine through. Mistakes are accepted, not scorned as in the 'white-out' Western culture." This philosophy is evident in Bell's own designs. Whether it's ITC Clover 's carefree spirit, the slightly spooky Hollyweird, Caribbean 's< rustic charm or the weathered elegance of ITC Swank, there is a natural honesty in her work."

Compliments was inspired by a few hand-lettered words on a 1930s brochure by Western Union entitled “The Yellow Blank is Correct for Every Social Need.” It is now available in OpenType format with contextual alternates for a better script effect.

Sweepy is based on his popular Pooper Black but it is lighter and has connecting letters. Sweepy is a brush script that is casual and fluid. In the expanded OpenType version Sweepy is loaded with over 50 alternate characters and ligatures that offer more flexible lettering options. (Sweepy Basic includes 230 glyphs, Sweepy Pro includes 462 glyphs.)

Elise is a sweet natured, layered display typeface, with a few layers but a wealth of options. From the feminine to the fun to the nostalgic, Elise is a capable and personable set. Best used BIG and with color, you’ll always find an occasion for Elise’s charm. To use this typeface, once you have your copy in place in the design program of your choice, copy your text block and paste it directly on top of your existing text block. Set this new text block to a different Elise layer and voila! You’ll already start to see some interesting effects take place. In some cases, different effects are achieved by bringing The Elise Ribbed layer to the front or to the back. Also available is a free ornament set to get you started.

Marketing Strategy JNL was inspired by some display signage used in an episode of the classic "Alfred Hitchcock Hour". Evoking the early-60s feel of kitchy advertising, this display font has a limited character set and is specifically designed for creating retro ad banners and point-of-sale attention getters as well as period piece signage. For those preferring a blank hexagon for spaces between words, one is located on the equal key. Marketing Strategy JNL is available in both regular (outline) and solid (white letters on black) versions.

Madley is a contemporary slab serif typeface. Featuring monolinear stems, elongated block serifs and teardrop terminals, the type family goes from a delicate Hairline weight to a heavy Black weight. Because of its range in weights and extensive Opentype features, it’s a perfect font for both text and display text settings. Alternative features include a wide array of swashes assigned up to 11 for select characters, combining ligatures in capital unicase settings, and stylistic alternates for some letters.
