The Calzone Family is display typeface inspired by the many neighborhood pizza and local eateries with hand painted menus. The font is cozy and fun, like your favorite comfort food. All of the typefaces include standard ligatures, currencies, ampersands and footnotes consistent with the design. Calzone regular includes upper and lower case type, great for body copy. Calzone Caps is a heavy, stylized uppercase. Calzone Lower is a light, stylized lowercase. And the day in which I introduce my second typographic family has arrived. In order to do this, I borrowed several passages from this beautiful book by Maurice Maeterlinck, “Life and Flowers”. His poetic observation of Nature made me reflect about the small discoveries behind the flow of my pen on paper. About that quick, spontaneous, overwhelmed stroke, with some awkwardness as well as certainty in it. About the writing that looms line after line. About the mischievous stains of ink flooding my writing tool. Lady Dodó was born as a product of these drawings, pieces of writing and reflections. Following the steps of its ancestor and friend, Lady René, it takes advantage of the goodness of the Open Type technology to propose a systematized as well as a personalized writing font. Both friendly and challenging. Due to the large number of alternate characters (both for lower and upper case as well as for numbers) and to its precise programming, it proposes to design diverse and rich typographical sets with multiple strokes in a simple way. However, Lady Dodó is not just made of typographical signs; it also proposes a set of modules to make patterns and another one to design frames. Linex Sweet was designed by Albert Boton in the late 1990s. It's a smallish family of three weights; the middle weight has an italic companion face. Mark Jamra based the design for Jamille on the forms of the 18th century Modern Face fonts of Didot and Bodoni, but was also influenced by the work of artists like Adrian Frutiger, who reworked such fonts to adapt to the demands of modern technology. A very legible font, Jamille will give text a classic, elegant feel.

Formosa is the old, colonial name for Taiwan. Formosa means beautiful in Portuguese and I think this handwritten typeface has a certain beauty itself. It comes in three styles, all of which make extensive use of ligatures, to give the font an authentic, handwritten feel. Like most of my fonts, Formosa comes with Babylonian language support.
