First of all, I don’t have an uncle called Edward, nor do I know anyone by that name. When I had finished this font, it had a strong ‘Uncle Edward’ feeling to it, so the name stuck. Uncle Edward is a handmade script font. I used a Japanese brush pen and some rough paper to create that ‘vintage’ look. Made in La Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland), HyperTurfu was born during the shooting of “The Return of Hyperturfu Xpress 2”. A GoPro on a lego electric train, meters and meters of rails, an empty industrial space, loads of puppets, paper, cardboard, pizza boxes, lights, hot glue and a bunch of friends preparing a one shot scene for a month. The title of the movie was made out of lego pieces, painted with golden spray and hanged over the rails. It was the first inspiration for this awsome superbold font. Roughcast is a kind of outside plaster, composed of cement and pebbles. It’s not the best looking plaster and it is estimated that in the UK, a roughcast outer reduces the value of a house by 5%. I am in the middle of renovating our old farm, but I won’t cover it in roughcast! Roughcast font is actually quite an attractive brush font. I made it with a brush I found hiding underneath my stove (where it had been for a while). I cleaned it and used it to make a couple of fonts, including Roughcast. Roughcast is best used for packaging, book covers and posters.

Rudge is an intentionally rough sans-serif font. It was designed to share the look and feel of many “antique” fonts, although it lacks the standard serif look of those fonts. The corners are slightly rounded, the edges are wobbly, and the kerning is tight. It could be used as a faux “sloppy printing” font or just a more regularized hand-drawn font.
