Chicago Ornaments is a collection of decorative cuts cast by the Chicago Type Foundry of Marder, Luse & Co. of 139-141 Monroe Street in Chicago, Illinois. This collection was shown in their 1890 Price List. According to William E. Loy, at least some of them were designed by William F. Capitain. Chicago was one of the innovative Midwest type foundries, introducing the American Point System. These designs represent the late Victorian period. After 1890, with the posters of Jules Cheret taking Paris by storm, Art Nouveau gradually began to displace Victorian style. In type design, both styles competed against each other until about the end of the century. Designers may want to consider using these ornaments when using Victorian style typefaces, like our Cruickshank, Edison and Freak - as well as faces by others such as Karnac, Kismet and Quaint Gothic. Included in the font are a set of Dormer-inspired caps, numerals and a few other glyphs - also from the Victorian period.

Robert Moore is a font that was specially designed for comics. A lot of work has been done. At first, glyphs were drawn manually using different markers, then they were transferred to the font. The font was tested on real printing and digital comics. The Clearface types were originally designed by Morris Fuller Benton in 1907. Their forms expressed the Zeitgeist of the turn of the 20th century; typical and distinguishing characteristics are the forms of the a" and the "k." The ATF version did not include an accompanying Italic. In 1978, ITC's Victor Caruso was licensed by ATF to develop a new serif typeface and matching italic based on the forms of Clearface. The result was ITC Clearface, a serif typeface with marked stroke contrast and italic weights. The teardrop-formed endings of the lowercase a, c and f (also found in Caslon) define the character of the face. The type's design is also distinguished by its small -- almost slab -- serifs, a large x-height, and little stroke contrast. ITC Clearface, with its historical touch, is good for both texts and headlines, but its slightly condensed nature performs at its best when it is allowed its space.

These two extra bold fonts are classic slab serif wood type styles with one detail of difference. Columbian is an extra bold Clarendon wood type that was manufactured by many of the wood type manufacturers in the late 19th century. "Clarendons" feature bracketed or rounded serif joins whereas "Antique" was a class of typefaces that features squared off slab serifs. Some type designs have only minor differences from others. The Columbian design is essentially identical to Wm. Page & Co.'s "Antique no. 4", with the difference being the bracketed serifs. In researching material for the digitization of Columbian, we started with a 15 line font identified as "Columbian" shown in the Angelica Press wood type portfolio (printed in 1976). This font is in fact "Page Antique no. 4". Comparing Antique #4 to Columbian specimens from Hamilton and other manufacturers confirms the only real difference is the serif treatments. Therefore, both fonts are presented as a pair. Each font features a full Western & Central European character set.

Tetria was designed by Martin Jagodzinski, who says that the font came from the need for a compact, constructivist typeface. Tetria combines the expression of simplicity of the 'norm' typefaces like DIN Mittelschrift with elements of Old Face typefaces which optimize legibility. It therefore contains old style figures and a larger stroke contrast, which makes the font legible even in smaller point sizes." Sources of inspiration for Tetria were the designs of Joost Schmidt and Herbert Bayer as well as the norm typefaces. The name comes from the Greek word for 'four', tetra. "Four is the number of many simple and useful objects, four wheels on a car, four corners of a book. Also, the basic forms of Tetria come from the simple geometric form of the square." The space-saving Tetria is well-suited to a variety of uses, from corporate typeface to text to display on posters, flyers or onscreen."

The typeface LECO 1988 is another font family which belongs to LECO set. It is a display typeface, which is inspired by the title written on the bottle of lečo from 1988. Its typical features are embedded diacritics and significant black look with low contrast. Lower case is united with upper case and has several identical glyphs in both forms. Tabular numerals, superiors and inferiors and the full set of (glyphs - symbols) for languages using the Latin alphabet are also included in this font. LECO 1988 font family includes six specific styles: Regular, Blind, Gradient, Outline, Shadow and Stencil style. Those styles extend typographic options by mutual combination or overlapping, whilst every style share the identical metrics and kerning. P22 Barabajagal is a unique take on the display fat face by way of doodling fun. Somewhat informed by the shapes of an early 1970s film type called Kap Antiqua Bold, this font’s aesthetic is the stuff of boundless energy and light humour, where an uncommon “peak” angle drawing perspective results in sturdy trunks, fat bottom curls, and active ascenders eager for mobility in space. This is the kind of font that makes you wonder whether it was drawn with rulers, protractors and compasses, or just by a mad doodler’s crazy-good free hand. Regardless, Barabajagal easily turns the geometry of modern forms into an exercise in sugar-loaded fun. Cowboya is a typography with concave Tuscan serif very contrasted and modernist inspiration with letters in small caps, includes 4 versions of the font that can be used by superimposed layers which results in multicolored typographic titles. For the design of this typeface I was inspired by the credit titles used in the black film directed by Frizt Lang in 1950 called "The House of the River", to the drawing of the original forms of the letters i added decorative elements to give the fonts a festive character, traditionally this type of decorative fonts that emerged in Italy in the nineteenth century were used in large headlines and posters that were closely related to circus shows, carnival or environments of the Far West American. I have also rounded the sharper joints of the antlers and counterforms to create a contrast with the sharp Tuscan serifs which brings a modern background of retro inspiration and soft shapes.

Rosewood font, like its relatives Zebrawood, Pepperwood and Ponderosa, was created by the designer trio K.B. Chansler, C. Crossgrove and C. Twombly, and has its roots in the slab serif style. The first weight displays the simplicity typical of display typefaces at the end of the 18th century. The other weights are playful variations on this theme. The tendency toward display and ornametal typefaces began with the English Industrial Revolution. The introduction of new machines made mass production possible in the print industry, a technique meant to constantly produce new and unusual products to sell to more and more consumers. Many of the typefaces created in this time were meant simply to catch attention and to advertise products. The two ornamental weights of Rosewood reflect this tendency and never fail to catch the reader's eye. The Adagio Family is a part of Mateusz Machalski’s, Warsaw Academy of fine arts Master Degree Diploma in multimedia studio, conducted by Professor Stanisław Wieczorek and his brave PhD student Jakub Wróblewski. Adagio is a modern type family. It consists of 3 main varieties: sans, serif and slab. Each has its own “true italic” set. All of the styles together have over 400 characters in 9 different thicknesses. The Adagio family was created mostly for company identities. The idea was to create a wide range of different varieties that are stylistically consistent. Adagio Slab - Slab variety combines qualities of the Sans and Serif varieties. It has the same contrast as Sans. As distinct from Serif, Adagio Slab contains strong, beamy and symmetrical serifs in the form of pillows. Thanks to large X height, and highly stretched descenders, it also works correctly in longer text, while its strong detail is good for headlines. Slab version is a great complement for Adagio Serif and Adagio Sans.

Komet is a sturdy typeface with a calm and upright feel. Although it derives inspiration from classical English sans-serifs, it’s not too closely related to that model. Let it be known that this font is named for Excalibur, King Arthur's Magic Sword. The font is derived from a note that Arthur hastily penned to his Queen, Guinevere, during a lull in one of his many battles against the Saxons. Arthur's armour was so hefty that he could not easily seat himself, and so to pen his letter to Guinevere he plunged his legendary sword Excalibur into the marshy soil on which he had been fighting and thereby steadied his writing hand with the hasp of his magical sword. This ancient and battle-weary font is based on the writing from a fragment of that original document. It has been heralded by modern scholars as "grunge" writing of great antiquity. The font Excalibur SCF contains a full character set and it is professionally letterspaced and kerned. This time the resulting font explores the evolution of invitation scripts from the classic commercial lettering of the 1930s to the ideas clearly visible in the greeting cards of the 1980s and 1990s. Most base characters are made up of a single stroke, with some of the strokes driven from the top down, and some from the bottom up, putting the emphasis on the casual but precise fluidity of the hand, an emphasis magnified by the expert use of loops and swashes everywhere.
