HansHand started out in 2003 as a simple free font, the adaption of my grimy handwriting. For its 10th anniversary it got a complete overhaul and lots of new characters. Now also available in BOLD for the first time, featuring scribbles, strokes, circles and boxes to underline the fast taking-notes-while-on-the-phone look!

This loopy offering is patterned after a typeface from the 1888 specimen book from the Central Type Foundry of St. Louis, called simply "Spiral". The ragged contours on the original face have been smoothed out, but it still is an attention-getter. Both versions of this font include the complete Unicode Latin 1252 and Central European 1250 character sets.

Modakshar was inspired by traditional Indic handwriting scripts which ‘hang’ from a common upper horizontal bar. Adapting this motif to Latin letterforms was challenging. The typeface was first conceived in the 1970's as a design project in school. The current digital design was completed in 2002. Basic motif was inspired by traditional Indic script handwriting.

Pabean Market is an interpretation of the incription on the oldest market in Surabaya, Indonesia, which was established on 1849. The unique character inspired me to make a complete set of typeface. It’s a retro typeface but has a futuristic aura yet a festive vibes. This font comes in single style and has several Discretional Ligatures. -- Uppercase

Helsinki 2.0 is a completely updated version of our popular Helsinki typeface. We expanded the character set, changed the weight structure, and also added italics. Helsinki is inspired by the Finnish traffic sign typeface. It is based on geometric shapes, with technical and masculine forms. Helsinki is rather narrow, which makes it well suited to headlines and short text.

A set of rubber stamp letters, figures and punctuation used for marking electrical or communications equipment [and made in Japan] is the basis for this serif typeface. Varying widths and some letters in more of a block style than rounded are typical of Japanese packaging text from the 1950s and 1960s. Available in regular and oblique styles.

A modern geometric typeface influenced by the work of Dutch designer Wim Crouwel . The angular nature of the design lends itself strongly towards large display applications but because each character is formed from a consistent grid, stylish body copy can also be achieved. A fine, fat Deco face named Ludlow Stygian provided the basis for this delightful typeface. Although generally formal in character, the font shows a hint of playfulness in the distinctive “humpback” h and n characters. A sign at the 81st Street (Museum of Natural History) New York subway stop provided the pattern for this mosaic tile face. The font features a full-tile background at the bar position (shift-backslash) and left-and-right pointing fists at the brace positions as well as complete Latin 1252 and Central European 1250 character sets.

This little gem is based on a typeface discovered in a Boston Type Foundry catalog from the late 1800s, originally called "Mikado". This font gets its name from one of the more memorable characters in Gilbert and Sullivan’s operetta. Ten Oldstyle is a four-weight type family from Principal Designer Robert Slimbach at Adobe. He designed it as the Latin component of Ten Mincho, a Japanese typeface by Adobe?s Chief Designer Ryoko Nishizuka. As it began to take the form of a small type family, Robert decided to release Ten Oldstyle on its own as well.

Two classics from American Type Founders specimen catalogs of the 1880s—Othello and ATF Black Caps—inspired this powerful headline face with a decidedly menacing quality. A sign in a London storefront, ca. 1930, pitching—surprise!—Smart Frocks provided the visual cues for designing this typeface. A circa-1925 poster for the chanteuse Arlette Montal, signed simply "Bouchard," provided the inspiration for this roly-poly romp through the alphabet. It takes its name from a popular East Texas summertime porch dance...or not. Based on electrical circuitry, David Philpott's Circles typefaces are oddly legible, even though one might think they were destined for display usage only. The circle is the base form, repeated throughout the design. Originally drafted during his time at the Massey University School of Design, subsequent refinements have turned Circles into two complete fonts with a full character set.

TREMELO a typeface based on a logotype (Microtel). We designed it as a complete capital alphabet. The original idea for the logotype font came from the products the firm produced. I must admit that I am not a big fan of the Art Nouveau style. However, I found this particularly beautiful alphabet and decided to use it as the basis for this new font. Very graceful, elegant, and dare I say, organic. Includes some intertwined ligatures. Complete uppercase, numerals, basic punctuation. Supports most Western European languages.

I’m happy to announce the complete version of Ancora, a typeface I designed back in 2013. Ancora is a sans serif typeface with a distinctive style, inspired by the imagery in the production of the famous Port wine, such as boats, barrels, grapes, and bottle labels. Use Ancora for magazines, packaging, posters, stamps, brands and logos a new taste.

The three Script fonts: Brush Pro, Ballpoint Pro and Calligraphic Pro were derived from the original Ballpoint design. A custom Brush and Calligraphic texture was added to complete the family and twenty-two clip-art illustrations were created for each style. This older, somewhat funkier relative of the classic face, Engravers Roman, made its last appearance in the 1912 ATF Specimen Book. Here, it has been revived to do yeoman-like duty in a new century. A typeface named Sorbonne, unearthed by intrepid font-finder Dan X. Solo, provided the pattern for this quaint little charmer. The exaggerated serifs make it stand out in a crowd, while still retaining an understated elegance. Handlettering on a 1929 brochure for the P&O British-India Steamship Line inspired this tiddly typeface. Art Deco sensibilities combine with a playful attitude to yield a delightful and amusing headline font. Divenire is derived from a custom typeface designed for the Partito Democratico (Italian Democratic Party), it is used in their political communication. It has variation of tension in its design, alternating curved and almost straight elements. The glyphlist includes many alternatives like a set of odd punctuation marks: the famous "interrobang" and others, starting from Hervé Bazin's work.

Four letters for this font came from a puzzle in a 1983 Games magazine. After seeing them, I could not resist the temptation to do a complete set of letters made from push pins or tacks, a truly tacky font. Most of the letters on the lower case keys are alternatives--choose the one works best for your purposes.

Telegram is the work of British designer Timothy Donaldson, a casual style influenced by the ball and rod, or atomic, imagery popular during the 1950s. Donaldson called the typeface Telegram because it reminds him of dots and dashes. Telegram is a play alphabet which communicates an almost childlike innocence and is ideal for work directed at younger people.

Ornata G is the seventh of a series of old ornaments that I am trying to save from oblivion. I am completely redesigning the ornaments from scratch. These ornaments have been designed around 1890, I think by someone at the Enschede foundry in Holland. These have a lot of nice swings. Your digitizing type-designing savior, Gert Wiescher

This is a series that takes unfinished typefaces that were either previously ideated but not realized or were close to completion but left incomplete due to dissatisfaction with certain aspects, and brings them to completion. "Oorrnnoott" was originally a project named "Petitgothiquemignon" or "Sangoth". In the process of refining "Kropotokin", several ideas were incorporated into the design. Well, I say "incorporated," but it was designed on a whim, as usual. After all, it was started around 2005, and I don't usually leave notes or anything (which isn't the best habit), so I don't remember the emotions or thoughts behind its creation. Please consider this typeface as a very typical sans-serif font, as that is what I was aiming for when I excavated it this time. Please use it for body text, headlines, eye-catching designs, or whatever you like.

Somewhat extravagant and yet quite useful? Yes, absolutely. Meet Salted family: two awesome styles and a way cool picture font. Deliberately free-spirited, Salted – the Regular, yet regular is not quite an appropriate adjective for it – brings alternates and also discretionary ligatures that completely transform the font mood, adding unexpected touches of cursive script here and there and thus creating sort of a wild feel. Salted Sweet also brings alternates: 3 for letters, 2 for digits, and is way more even-tempered than it’s playmate. By the way, they play truly nice together. Enter the picture font and the team is complete for an exciting time. It’s said that the cure for anything is salt water: sweat, tears or the sea. We totally agree. Perhaps the cure for a boring design lies in a salted font. Give it a go!

In the beginning of the 800s, during the reign of Carolus Magnus (or “Karolus”, as he signed himself), a great reformation of the written characters was conducted under the authority of Alcuin, Paul Diacre and Theodulfe. The new style, named “Caroline” script, was completely set up between 820 to 830. It was a regular script, with few ligatures, very legible, but only with lowercase. The capitals remained the old Romans ones. We have created the font to serve contemporary users, making a difference between U and V, and also between I and J, which had no relevance for ancient Latin scribes. We also added Thorn, Oslash, Lslash, W, and and the usual accented characters that did not exist at the time. Titlings (initial letters, without accents), historical and contextual alternates completes the set (in two separate files for MacOS9).

Rondalia is a timeless yet modern font in which the strokes vary in thickness. It is highly readable yet has an informality combined with a quiet elegance. Above all else, Rondalia is well-behaved, ladylike, and can be expected to behave correctly and make the right impression in a wide range of situations. Rondalia is clean and rounded with a slightly Byzantine flavor. It is extremely versatile, equally effective for magazine design, movie posters and cosmetic ads, and for invitations, greeting cards and company profiles. The fact that there is very little difference in height between upper and lower case letters creates a calm, peaceful impression. The font is letterspaced and kerned and has a complete character set (all upper and lower case, numerals and mathematical symbols and a complete set of accented and special characters).
