A brand new year is here and a brand new font is here as well. I have to say I had so much fun working on this funky slab serif typeface. I have created some quirky letters and over 100 ligatures + the font comes in four weights - light, regular, medium & italic. The font also includes full language support, punctuation, numerals and detailed instructions how to use ligatures in most of the apps on your computer, as well as in Canva. Mark Stanczyk designed Linotype Typo American in 1999. The font is an excellent revival of American style typewriter type. As most of us can remember from our childhood years, or through old stories and movies, everyone used to type with typewriters before the invention of computers. Unlike computers, most individual typewriters only had one typestyle, or font, to chose from. To make matters worse, the letters in a typewriter font would wear down with use. Over time, text typed out on a typewriter would look more and more corroded, old, and uneven. Stanczyk has captured exactly these features in this “revival” font! Also like most older typewriter styles, Linotype Typo American’s letters are all mono-spaced, i.e., the letter i is the same width as the letter w. Typewriter letters also all tended to be cast in the same size, around 12 points or so. When using typewriter-style fonts, it is best to keep setting your text in similar sizes. (Of course, you can set really large and fun headlines with Linotype Typo American, too; if anything the unevenness of the design will come even more across in these applications.)

Pesaro is a new text typeface with a strikingly robust but charming appearance. Inspired by early prints from Venice like Jensen and Manutius, it follows its own formal concept of a contemporary design – a stable typeface with strong text qualities and graphic appeal. The Pesaro family comprised 12 styles and is well suited for ambitious typography. It comes in OpenType format with extended language support. All weights contain ligatures, proportional lining figures, tabular lining figures, proportional old style figures, lining old style figures, matching currency symbols, fraction- and scientific numerals and elegant swash captitals for all italic styles.

Neubau is a condensed geometric display typeface, designed in 2009. The inspiration for this face came from Joost Schmidt lowercase letters developed during 1925-28 in Bauhaus Dessau. Schmidt was one of the proponents of New Typography – a movement advocating the use of only lowercase letters which were constructed strictly geometrically using only ruler and compass. Neubau family consists of two subfamilies - Neubau Sans and Neubau Serif, each of them in three weights - light, regular and bold. Neubau typeface is recommended for use as a display font, and has been generated in a single OpenType format with Western CP1252 character set.

Modica is a strong and agile Geometric Sans type family comprising 18 fonts. This typeface began life as “Meccanica” – a quirky, heavy, engineering typeface, that later evolved into the more conservative “Technica” type family. And now, the typeface has been distilled down to its simplest and most perfect form to become “Modica”. Modica is a nimble typeface that can handle a multitude of applications – everything from body copy to retail fashion to corporate identities... why not put Modica to task today? Nubian was one of the first typefaces ever designed by G-Type and is an elegantly proportioned, crisply modern sans serif family. Comprising five weights from Thin to Bold with true matching italics, each font also includes two sets of figures (lining and old-style numerals) and an extended European character set. Nubian has a noticeably open, semi extended appearance providing very even 'colour' and excellent legibility when set as text. The contemporary letterforms work well at all sizes in print and on screen making Nubian a great choice across all media. The family has been updated to OpenType with extended language coverage.

Meguro Sans has a modern-styled boxy shape that achieves clean, industrial yet friendly style lends itself well to brand building. Its mono-line oriented and very high X-height ensure that it is extremely legible and creates a strong impression. Meguro Sans is Sans serif version of Meguro Serif. The Meguro sans font family is comprised of 10 styles with 5 different weights from light to black, along with matching italics offering possibilities for use in web, print, package and sign design, all with the goal of building an established look for brands in wide range of industries.

Sheet music for another one of those songs from the early part of the 20th Century with a wonderfully wordy hand lettered title was the model for the Art Nouveau flavored Go Home JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. 1908's "I Used to be Afraid to Go Home in the Dark (Now I'm Afraid to Go at All)" is comprised of eighteen words. It may have been a mouthful to request from the local sheet music shop, but the lettering on its cover made it a great candidate for preserving as a digital typeface.

The late 70s and early 80s is sometimes considered to be the period when headline typography went off the rails. Growing up in that period, some designers may beg to differ. Many geometric designs were available in dry-transfer and for the typositor, and were used everywhere a youth-culture look was appropriate - annuals, comics, club flyers, high-street boutiques, TV-advertised compila tion albums. Nightclubber is a fond homage to the excesses of the period, and should be used back-lit in pink neon or at a rakish 45 degree slant across a blurred photograph of a glitter ball.

Layering of individual styles forms the basis for the sans typeface Clown. The font family comprises 18 various styles that precisely fit together. Pueblito is a hand drawn font with a rustic and antique appearance. Was inspired from old books and newspapers but express a very own personality and not necessary represent a specific classic style. The family consists of twelve fonts in six weights plus a set of ornaments in order to compose all kind of texts. Using Pueblito in your projects, you can obtain an original aged flavor and just by adding a subtle texture effect will help you to obtain the desired vintage look.

Linotype Facsimile is part of the Take Type Library, which features the winners of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contest. Designed by J. Luigs and S. Wicker, the forms were constructed for electronic readers, just as the OCR fonts were. The increasing use of computers accompanied the growing number of fonts suitable for electronic reading. The standard has long been set, but designers are always creating new interpretations and new symbols. Typefaces like Facsimile are here to stay and personify the Zeitgeist of the late 20th century.

As recently as forty years ago, computers consisted of racks of vacuum tubes, each rack about the size of a refrigerator, with enough racks to fill a good-sized family room required to do routine data processing. This font is based on a monospaced typeface used on a lineprinter from that time, the Unisys 0776. Although its origins are strictly retro, the face retains a timeless techno edge, even today. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

Puchiflit is a typeface disguised as a pen script. I didn't create this typeface by importing the letters on paper and tracing them into a computer with a draw application. So I think it's a pseudo-pen script typeface. By the way, I used a famous Japanese maker's felt-tip pen as a reference for line widths. I thought, "Isn't this what it would look like if I wrote with this pen? I drew a line in the draw application while fantasizing about this.

Rosalia is an impulsive typeface designed by Heinz Schumann in 1964 as Stentor for Typoart Dresden. The marked stroke contrast and the spontaneous look typical of handwriting gives the typeface a lively, energetic character. The generous capitals lean slightly to the right and contrast beautifully with the reserved, upright lower case letters and can also be used for initialing. Way back before digital imaging, video tape and computer editing, the home movie enthusiast had to shoot on film his own titles using any one of a variety of movie titling kits on the market. One common approach was to arrange white ceramic letters on a colored background and film them. A set of such letters provided the inspiration for Entitled JNL from Jeff Levine. The classic, sleek Art Deco lines of this font makes it an all-purpose design for any headline needs.
