Inspired by the 70's design, specially on Herb Lubalin's work, the typeface Garoa is a rounded mechanical display font without optical compensations, ideal for large bodies. The medium weight has lower case for short texts, and the Bold versions have singular upper case glyphs, with some alternates (at least one alternate per letter – some with OpenType features some using caps on the keyboard). The Garoa Hacker Clube Bold version is free and contains no OpenType features, but the glyphs have the same design as on Garoa Bold.

Too often, familiarity in type design can fool us into mislabeling similar styles of lettering. The Art Deco years provided many variations of the thick-and-thin alphabet, and we tend to lump all of them together as being "a version of Broadway", as this is the most popular of the genre. The roots of this font go back to 1967. A book title in trendy letters was created in a completely ingenuous way as a film prop for a Super 8 fun film. I drew the letters with felt-tip pen and poster paint without thinking too much about it. It wasn't until a good 50 years later that I realized, this was a first awkward typeface draft. The flower power vibe was captured here subconsciously. In 2019 I completed the few glyphs and created variants that I would not have thought of at the time.

Federico is a typeface based on the handwriting of Federico Garcia Lorca, the eminent Spanish poet and playwright (1898-1936). Original version was designed for a book about Lorca. The face has two styles. One looks like an original poets writing, the second looks like if Lorca would write with a ball pen. Federico includes many alternative glyphs and ligatures, which make it look like a real writing of an emotional, negligent, creative man. Despite the fact that Garcia Lorca has written in spanish, the font has western and eastern european, cyrillic, turkish letters.

BachelorScript is the preliminary design for GraduateScript, released in june 2013. You can clearly see the resemblance between the two, but while Bachelor is frisky and authentic, Graduate is more polished and staged. Last year I walked half of Offa’s Dyke path, a long distance trail on the Welsh/English border. Walking the trail, I came across a beautiful stretch of forest with a lovely name: Cadora Woods. Cadora Woods font was made with a Japanese brush pen. It sort of looks medieval and a friend of mine suggested it would be the font of choice for maps of ‘The Shire’. I guess that is true, but I am convinced you can come up with some innovative uses for this font!
