The Englishman William Caslon punchcut many roman, italic, and non-Latin typefaces from 1720 until his death in 1766. At that time most types were being imported to England from Dutch sources, so Caslon was influenced by the characteristics of Dutch types. He did, however, achieve a level of craft that enabled his recognition as the first great English punchcutter. The original Caslon specimen sheets and punches have long provided a fertile source for the range of types bearing his name. Identifying characteristics of most Caslons include a cap A with a scooped-out apex; a cap C with two full serifs; and in the italic, a swashed lowercase v and w. A few of the many interpretations from the early twentieth century were true to the source, as well as strong enough to last into the digital era. These include two from the American Type Founders company, Caslon 540 and the slightly heavier Caslon #3. Both fonts are relatively wide, and come complete with small caps, old style figures, and italics.

This design incorporates different styles into a consistent look. A pinch of script, a little of geometric and some humanistic shapes as well create a very distinguishable sans-serif. It has an overall good feeling specially on the heavier weights that have intended contrast irregularities to create a 'cartoonish' look. On the intermediate weights the design will preform well on small font sizes because of its large counters, low contrast and large x-height, but as you go to the extremes you will see shapes full of personality that will pop out in large font sizes. The font is loaded with opentype features such as small caps, ligatures, alternates, old style figures, and much more. The italic version is deeply rooted in the calligraphic heritage of the Italics. This way the brush inspired strokes are emphasized as well as an overall calligraphic look. Far from being a mere slant, Mangerica Italic had every lowercase glyph redesigned as well as some uppercase, besides that, every glyph was optically adjusted to ensure not only aesthetics but functionality too.

Kufi is a traditional-style Arabic headline face available in two styles, Kufi and Kufi Outline. I don’t think I’m a capricious person, but right now, due to the enormous amount of renovation work on our home, I do get bad moods quite often! Capricious is a hand painted all-caps font: I used my favourite Chinese ink, a brush and very rough paper to get the desired ‘eroded’ effect. It is quite a heavy display font, so I wouldn’t really set a text in it, but it works really well for headlines, catching titles and products that need some pepper!

Magnitude is a font inspired by classics like Eurostyle and Bank Gothic, with geometric characteristics and dynamics style. Impetus is a powerful capitals-only geometric sans in a solid and inline variant. Built around a framework of a circle and square, it echoes angular Deco or Italian Futurist "moderne” forms, and is about as heavy as it is possible for a font to be. Alternate forms are provided in the lower-case keystrokes for the S, G, J and W, and there is also an alternate 1. The two styles can be combined in one setting for effect. Use Impetus where maximum impact is required.

Ryno Slab is a superslab that was born out of a need for an aggressive, heavy, geometric display face that did not appear clunky. Its serifs are so thick, you could create reasonably legible word shapes by using all caps and masking the words out. Ryno Slab’s tough geometric exterior and squarish forms make it suitable for tight setting in posters, t-shirts, and artwork. Also, an extended character set with support for European languages make Ryno Slab a good fit for magazine headlines.

Chipping is a brand new face inspired by Edwardian and 1920s letterforms. It's good for clear and legible headings which need a gentle and unobtrusive period touch, and is the latest is Greater Albion's line of faces to explore the 'small capitals' idea. You will see a broad similarity with our Chipperly family, and the two work well together in combined projects. Biennale is a geometric typeface with a strong character and a large x-height which make it an excellent choice for a wide range of applications, such as headlines or branding. Although common in style, Biennale distinctive details and color on the page allow users to create really unique designs. The font comes in 11 weights, from Hair to Heavy, and includes matching italics. As you would expect from Latinotype, this typeface comes with a standard set of 417 characters that support over 200 Latin-based languages.

DT Portal: This stylised, partially serifed font, made with a slightly rounded square form, may have been inspired initially by old cathode ray tubes and computer screens. Although not intended to be purely a ‘tech’ font, it can have a strong tech feel to it. More suited to being a headline font than body text. It also appears to have a monospaced look to it, since most letters, (other than letters like ‘i, l and t’), do have the same width. There is some automatic contextual shape adjustment happening in places, to avoid taking up too much space, so contextual ligatures should be turned on. As is the case with most of my fonts, when given the choice, ‘metric’ spacing should be used in preference to ‘optical’. Initially this font was going to be called ‘DT Portal’, because its form was similar to that of a window or doorway. But due to other fonts already having that name, I chose to rename it as ‘DT Partel’, for no reason other than it is only a very small change visually.

Our font of the original was only ten point, so we had to use our imagination to a great extent. As specialists in Victorian typography, we have found that many people do not like the "center alignment" idea, used on several old time faces, but we have been faithful to the original. So there!

Reminicent of mid-19th century antique type and Victorian cast-iron signage, Coldharbour Gothic lovingly preserves all the eroded and rusted textures in digital form. Characters have been selected to have cleaner and rougher counterparts - by flipping between cases, the user can customise the result and achieve the degree of decay or preservation they desire.

Madisonian has been found in a catalogue of the New York Bruce type-foundry, dated 1859. The lower cases have the feeling of a Bodoni Italic and the initials have a "spencerian" touch. This font did exist originaly in a single weight. The family has been extended with a bold and an engraved version.
