Galea is a slightly condensed serif typeface with long extenders. Its elongated proportions and graceful terminals seek to bring femininity and elegance to any layout. It is a display face that works well at large sizes in editorial contexts as a headline, titling or introduction to a text. Galea was designed by Isabel Urbina Peña while at Cooper Union’s Type@Cooper Extended Program, 2012 and released on May, 2014. Galea obtained an Honorable Mention from the Fine Press Book Association in the Text Family Category, 2013. Also, it is featured in the book "Playing with Type: 50 Experiments" by Lara McCormick, Rockport Press, on Parenthesis Magazine, Autumn 2013 on Behance's Typography Served and will appear on "Typography Magazine", Japan (Nov 2014).

The sheet music for the 1934 tune "Two in A Dream" had the title hand lettered in a bold type style that utilized some stencil and some solid lettering. Following through on the stencil portion of the design, Tuxedo Stencil JNL was created in both regular and oblique versions. The 1930s were the era of elegant supper clubs and night spots, and it was not unusual to find gentlemen all decked out in formal wear for an evening on the town, hence the font's name.

(pronounced hor-hay) Some years ago my wife and I had our evening meal in a restaurant on what is called the northshore of Massachusetts. Of course, if you check a globe or map you'll see that the pilgrims needed a compass, it should have been called the eastshore as it's on the east end of the rectangle/hook we call the Commonwealth of Mass. In any event, the menu our waitress gave us was hand-lettered with shapes that I used to develop the 4 fonts called Jorge. When I brought the preliminary drawings into the office Steve Zafarana, a designer and cartoonist referred to them as Jorge's new design, the name stuck.

I got rhythm, I got music, I got my swirls, who could ask for anything more? Periplus is quite an eccentric type, full of twists and nice oddities here and there. It is an all-caps font with 2 variations for each letter and number, stored at upper- and lower-case slots. For added amusement, every letter got not 1 or 2, but 4 swash variations. One can be reached through the OpenType swash feature: just select the letter and hit the swash button. The other ones you will access through a glyphs palette. All of them are neatly organized with the 'access all alternates' feature. The font is yet equipped with some stylistic alternates and ornaments. Have fun!

Bound to rules, unbound in the usage. Hyper geometric, and minimal contrast. Circulo V1 is based on a font project I originally started because of a client I had. I wanted to create a display and text font for their product design brand, which is all about reducing the amount of necessary materials and production steps. Before I started the course at tipo-g it was called -“REDUCE“ and was more or less finished. The concept was based on the name. How far can letter shapes be reduced to their core geometric concepts and still be identified as letters? But in a way, it lacked a unique approach and was just a generic geometric Sans Serif with a lack of finesse. There was already a glimpse of characteristics visible which would later define Circulo V1. ‍ The high focus on geometric shapes was not of the same severity, and the angle on the stems was less intense. Those, as I call them, fake serifs turned out to be a significant factor in legibility and the characteristic of the font. Besides those changes and improvements, I decided to implicate a new feature to the concept, a condensed style. I quickly realised that it is impossible to keep my perfect circles and half-circles in this style without breaking my rules for the font. This „problem“ turned out to be the most crucial feature of the condensed set. Circular-based Letters will ignore the rules and boundaries of the condensed style and stay as they are. This feature allows the user to create a unique rhythm in their texts, and if you use the variable font, you can decide how intense this rhythm will be. In this situation, the user can choose which letters are allowed to keep their shapes and which will be put in their condensed corset. All, some or none of them, you decide.

Have you ever searched for a font that looked like it was really someone's handwriting, only to find that it was too feminine or too hard to read? I used to want a font like that, too, until I discovered that a font like that had been residing in my attic, in letters to me from my late grandfather. Not only was I thrilled to have a font like this at hand, but also one that would be a memory of my grandfather every time I used it. He was a hard-working man, raising a family during the Depression, yet was still fun-loving, kind, and generous. We called him Grandhappy. As a wedding present, I received from him rolling pins and a cutting board made of 8 different kinds of wood that he pieced together. In this font, the bullet is a rolling pin in honor of that! Other than the fact that this is a font from the hand of one greatly loved, my favorite thing is that although a True Type Font, it has some features of an Open Type font. There are many alternative letter choices available through the use of little-used keys on the keyboard and alt codes. This font was chosen to portray Jay Gatsby's handwriting in The Great Gatsby (2013).

Kabouter (kaːˈbɑu̯.tər) means ‘gnome’ in Dutch. I have no particular love for gnomes (even though I have a font called Garden Gnome…), but this font had a fairytale feeling to it and the name looked good. Kabouter is a happy display font. Strait passages second part… I tried in this fifth (that's why she took the name "Pentathlon Pro”) consecutive font family to give her a character style with again a strait way of writing. Walking on the same considerations as the previous series (Khamai, Aeolus, Corset & Artios) I tried to give some sense of diversity for the strait passages of character: those fourteen style are the result. And in this family, the “Bold” with "Inlier" and “Bold Italic” with "Inlier Italic” engage in the same way as did the “Layered font families” in the previous series. Also I added a design statement for the twelve zodiac signs, only presented in the Bold, Inlier, Bold Italic and Inlier Italic style. This series is composed of fourteen styles with 628 glyphs each, with true italics and supports Latin, Greek and Cyrillic.

Strak is a font that was born out of admiration for the work of E. Vermeulen, a Belgian artist known for his tight, precise line and an unseen masterpiece that is spread around the world. After the success of our best-selling Mr Black, we decided to once more use my grandfather’s dry transfer lettering sheets. My grandfather was a Polish military cartographer and he left us some used-up sheets. The letters didn't transfer so well but we liked the way they were damaged. Mr Tiger has upper- and lowercase characters with up to four alternate glyphs. First three variations are only slightly damaged but the fourth one is usually more distorted. All of the glyphs have a very high resolution so they can be used in a large scale and they will still look great. One of the best things in Mr Tiger is the OpenType Contextual Alternates feature. It will automatically set alternate glyphs depending on frequency of appearance of the same character. The script doesn’t throw random glyphs. For example in the word “HIPPOPOTAMUS” you will automatically get three different “P” glyphs and two “O” glyphs. It really works great but of course you can always fine tune it by hand.
