Cocomat has been designed by Francesco Canovaro and Debora Manetti as a development of the Coco Gothic typeface system created by Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini. It shares with all the other subfamilies in the Coco Gothic system a geometric skeleton with open, more humanistic proportions, a sans serif design with slightly rounded corners and low contrast proportions, without optical compensation on the horizontal lines, resulting in a quasi-inverted contrast look in the boldest weights. What differentiates Cocomat from the other subfamilies in Coco Gothic are some slight design touches in the uppercase letters, with a vertical unbalancing reminiscent of art deco design, notably evident in uppercase "E", "A","F","P" and "R" - while lowercase letters have been given some optical compensation on the stems, like in "n","m", "p" and "q". These design choices, evoking the second and third decade of the last century (Cocomat is also referred as Coco 1920 in the Coco Gothic Family) all give Cocomat a slight vintage feeling, making it a perfect choice every time you need to add a period vibe or an historical flair to your design, like in food or luxury branding. The typeface, first published in 2014, has been completely redesigned by the original authors in 2019 as Cocomat PRO to include eight extra weights (thin, medium, black and heavy in both roman and italic form), extra open type features (including alternate forms, positional numerals), and extra glyphs making Cocomat cover over two hundred languages using latin, cyrillic and greek alphabets.

London is one of my favourite cities, so it was about time I named a font after it. Well, technically, I named a font after one of London’s districts. Southwark comes from the Anglo-Saxon word Suthriganaweorc, which means ‘Fort of the men of Surrey’. The font Southwork is a handmade Clarendon. I used a Japanese brush pen to create the outlines. I gave the glyphs texture by filling them in with a brush and Chinese ink. Southwark, therefore, has an uneven look and a brushy texture. It looks good on just about anything, but posters, greeting cards and product packaging come to mind.

This is a radically modernized uncial with many OpenType features and 415 characters: Caps, lower case, small caps, numerators, denominators, accents characters and so on. There are 21 ligatures. It is an experimental look at medieval writing for the 21st century.

Ardenwood is based on a wood-carved alphabet from the early 1500s. It features gothic characters with elaborate floral decorations. The lower case has the more basic versions of the letters while the upper case characters are more extensively decorated.

Ru'ach is the work of British designer Timothy Donaldson, a dynamic, dry brush script typeface. The typeface should be set with close letter and word spacing. Donaldson's experiments with writing tools on different surfaces resulted in Ru'ach's strong, confident letterforms.

Linotype Monticello was designed by C.H. Griffith in 1946. Its design is based on James Ronaldsons Roman No.1 and Oxford Typefaces from American Type Founders and was revised by Matthew Carter while he was working at Linotype between 1965 -1981.

Typographers — and clients alike — are often obsessed with novelty. Be it self-consciously peculiar details with made-you-look appeal — or just austere, detached minimalism, constant seek for novelty in typography often becomes an end in itself. A lot of times, an old trick is better than a bagful of new ones — all you might actually need would be a good, reliable font family with soul, providing that comforting, familiar feel. This is where Forrest comes in: a type family born out of a lifelong passion for digging into old archives of fonts, in search for that good ol’ type — simple, honest, made with love. But make no mistake, Forrest is as savvy as fonts come, packed with smart features. Handsome swashes, cute small capitals and old style figures all add a bit of flair and enable a highly sophisticated and contemporary approach to typography.

Kamui is a font designed by Carlos Fabian Camargo G. and used to write headlines. Its strategy makes it ideal for covers and advertisements with Japanese-style manga comics requiring latin style. Precisely its purpose was inspired by typographical classics such as Mistral by R. Excoffon and Zapfino by H. Zapf that then were diluted by separate strokes as blackletter calligraphy. However, high doses of miscegenation and lettering untimely torn between 50% esthetic and 50% legibility. That way his radical expression is highly profitable for composing and designing words and phrases with Eastern look. And more importantly, the writing seems drawn quickly with thin-tipped brush staining over a rough surface, from that process comes the idea of corroded outlines and changes in contrast. In conclusion, some diagonal strokes, horizontal, curved and vertical stand or hide from their simulation of scarcity or abundance of ink clots. That way each stroke seems inconsistent, footprint of the 423 brush drawing glyphs in Regular Kamuy. In that sense, the OpenType features included are: Standard Ligatures, Contextual Alternates, discretionary ligatures, swash, stylistic alternates, alternatives for titles, ordinals, fractions. And to end the Variable “Kamuy Dingbats” has is 52 fictitious drawings and zamurais.

Geliat would be the youngest brother of Creo, retaining the letterform and proportion but has more geometric looks. This font family comes in two versions which has some different default glyphs. Geliat family has similar letterform with Creo, while the Alt version has common geometric letterform. Italic styles of Geliat were designed using semi-rotalic method. The round parts have 5 degrees italic angle, while the vertical strokes were made in 10 italic degrees. The result gives the styles look more circular than most geometric typefaces with the same 10 degrees italic angle. Each version of Geliat has 2 variable fonts along with 10 different predefined weights from Thin to Heavy with matching italics. Platinus Script Pro is the latest example of what has now become a Sudtipos tradition: Adapting conventional calligraphic methods from the last two centuries to produce modern digital scripts for the current one. This time the resulting font explores the evolution of invitation scripts from the classic commercial lettering of the 1930s to the ideas clearly visible in the greeting cards of the 1980s and 1990s. Reba Samuels is based on the 2007 release Rebecca Samuels. While Rebecca was largely intended for text use Reba aims to be more versatile with an extended weight scope and added cut varieties. While Rebecca’s slab character is developed in the Reba serif, the ’seriffed’ italic of Rebecca is abandoned in favor of a simple italic sans, better matching the serif in plain text. The weight extremes are very useful for headlines while the middles do better in text. The robust and angular shapes of the serif matches the straightforward sans. The extreme contrast between the thin and the black cuts opens up great opportunities in any design project.

Floridium grew out of an affection for the old wood types of the 1800s. Painters Roman* was the initial inspiration. It was the source for the �banana� and �snake head� serifs. But the design�released by Adobe as Juniper�was too quirky to be useful. I tried to make it more sophisticated and modern while keeping the original personality of the 19th century types. The name resulted from a trip to Miami while the initial drawings were being made. Not the best way to name a typeface, but while we were in Miami Beach there was this tall blonde in a bright yellow bikini sitting on this bright yellow Porsche and...
