A 1934 advertisement for the Roney Plaza Hotel at 23rd Street and Collins Avenue on Miami Beach yielded the inspiration for Tropical Tourist JNL. While this wonderful example of Art Deco lettering survived, sadly the original Roney was torn down around 1969 and replaced with a modern apartment house/condos bearing the same name.

The Book of Kells is a ninth century gospel created in the British Isles and is considered to be the finest existing example of early Celtic art. The book itself is now housed in the Trinity College Library, Dublin. This computer set combines historical accuracy with functional readability and features 72 elements and linking borders.

Autumn is my favourite time of the year: I love the colors in the forest, the colder temperature and the stormy winds. Autumn Voyage is a very nice set of hand made fonts: a fat one, a thin one and a lovely autumn leaves doodle pack. Comes with a heap of diacritics as well.

'HU Thegame KR' was created with a game as a motif, and is a characteristic font with sharp and strong elements. The finishing of the same strokes gives the font a sense of unity and makes it look sharper and colder. This font is suitable for use as a headline. It contains Hangul, Korean.

Tumbly is a decorative typeface family of Regular and two Alternatives with variations in caps and numbers. Conceived as a college senior thesis over a decade ago, Tumbly was recently rediscovered. Original inspiration for the typeface was the round belly of Winnie-the-Pooh. Tumbly is ideally suited for headlines, decorative and display use.

Dingocittà with its 12 fonts, contains a large amount of features like small capitals, different figure sets, automated fractions, ordinals, standard ligatures, contextual alternates (generates letter combinations to avoid form collisions by simultaneous maintaining word fugue) and discretionary ligatures. Dingocittà is suitable for a wide range of applications and can be readily combined with other fonts.

UNY is a display slab serif font. UNY is a distinct all caps geometric typeface inspired by varsity, college and university sports as well as the military. The UNY name was derived as a new styled acronym from the word university. UNY is great for sports, sports teams, schools, fantasy, display work, invitations, writing, quotes, posters, acronyms and headings.

Unisketch is an homage to my favorite font Univers when I was at design college. Univers is a neo grotesk font by famous Swiss typeface designer Adrian Frutiger. Unisketch, with its worn, misaligned and slightly tilted characters, still retains some of the qualities that workhorse body copy requires: It is legible at small sizes and produces a compact ‘Schriftbild’.

Benderville comes with a solid construction, an ample x-height, an angular edge, and an attitude to match. A sort of rangy slab-serif with a voice all its own -- a voice that seems to holler "Hey! What you lookin' at?" Its sturdy single weight has a complete character set, including ligatures, diacriticals, and other symbols.

An image of an antique metal marking stencil [circa late 1890s or early 1900s] reading “Folck’s Roller Mills #196 New Surprise manufactured by Wolfe Brothers, Cumberland, MD” had the words “New Surprise” rendered in a Western/Victorian typeface. Those letters served as the model for Old Trail JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Uniwerek is a hand drawn font, inspired by college and university sportswear. The Uniwerek font family consists of six fonts: Uniwerek, UniwerekBold, UniwerekBlack, UniwerekLight, UniwerekHollow, UniwerekStencil. UniwerekBlack and UniwerekLight can be used together by layering UniwerekLight above a differently coloured UniwerekBlack. Language support includes Western, Central and Eastern European character sets, as well as Baltic and Turkish languages.

A collision between fine, fat caps developed by legendary letterer Alf Becker, and a squirrely, curly, uncredited lowercase uncovered by artist Leslie Cabarga produced this merry romp through the alphabet. The Postscript and Truetype versions contain a complete Latin language character set (Unicode 1252); in addition, the Opentype version supports Unicode 1250 (Central European) languages as well.

Souffle fonts are carefully hand-drawn made, with different letter shapes, full of ligatures, and stylistic alternates that will provide great flexibility for your designs. They come in three versions: Solid, College and Rayé (rough sketched); Including diacritics for CE languages. They fit perfect for logos and packaging design, posters, children books and many other purposes.

Oxo is an expressive typeface from typedepot. Designed to be used as a decorative, headline font which quickly evolved into great new font usable for large amounts of text as well. Available in 4 weights - thin,light, regular and bold with their matching italics plus three extra weights: Outline, College and Deco which are great addition to the family.

The idea about Phenotype was to achieve a unique visual effect by touching serifs. Characters form ligatures, but every combination looks different. Touching serifs form connecting character images, e.g. like logotypes on old refrigerators or oldtimer cars, something like the fonts of Leslie Carbarga. The design idea is based on monospaced and heavy serif fonts like Courier, Isonorm Memphis or Rockwell. However, obviously, Phenotype is not a monospaced typeface.

TD Neuth is inspired by Millennial and Gen Z qualities; it is modern, direct, and clear. It has excellent legibility and is ideal for usage in displays, headlines, labels, packaging design, and even long paragraphs on digital collaterals. Each glyph is meant to be balanced: not too light, not too bold, and not too regular. Use TD Neuth if you want your layout and designs to look modern and fresh.

I have no particular love for pigeons, but I read an interesting article about war pigeons being used to send messages to an fro. One pigeon (called William of Orange) even saved more than 2000 soldiers during the Battle of Arnhem. Pigeon Post is a lovely cartoon and kids font. It comes in a sans and a serif style, so there’s really no excuse for not using it!

Odell is a fun, whimsical, yet elegant handwritten font that was created in a light-hearted manner for use in things like menus, invitations, bed and breakfast collateral and whatever else you can dream up. Odell features extra thin letters and it is designed to be creative, a little fancy, and very legible. There are tons of foreign characters to choose from so you can write in other languages as well.

Lille Snemand, in Danish, means Little Snowman - like the Little Mermaid, but then colder… Lille Snemand is kin to the original Snemand font, which is an all caps typeface, but unlike its big brother, Lille Snemand comes with lowercase glyphs. It is a very legible font and has that 'unevenish' look - making it a great typeface for packaging and books.

Grafiker means 'Graphic Designer' in German. This fat, colored, uneven font with a 1001 uses was loosely based on the work of designers Oskar Kokoschka (1886 - 1980) and Jean Carlu (1900 - 1997). The glyphs were hand-drawn with a 0.5 roller ball and colored in with Chinese ink, using a stiff brush. The result is a lively, rather unusual font.

Supercard's creation is inspired by traditional athletic block lettering often only seem in uppercase form Supercard font family has captured the blue collar feel and expanded the range of this traditional look in six different weights all with uppercase, lowercase, numbers, punctuation and simple Latin international characters. The versatility of the different font weights allows for broader and fresh design possibilities in your work.

In his book, Brushstroke and Freestyle Alphabets, Dan X. Solo called this fabulous fifties face Maidstone Script. Somewhat less willowy than the original, this version is still righteously retro, and takes its name from a collision between a poodle skirt and pedalpushers, two fifties fashion statements. The Opentype version of this font supports Unicode 1250 (Central European) languages, as well as Unicode 1252 (Latin) languages.

No mystery here: this typeface is based on the not-often-seen Cooper Black Swash Italic, designed by Oswald Bruce Cooper. Swash variants are the norm with this font, but enabling Contextual Alternates will prevent collisions between the swash “tails” and letters with descenders. Both versions of this font contain the Unicode 1252 (Latin) and Unicode 1250 (Central European) character sets, with localization for Romanian and Moldovan.

Frozen Memory is a heavy-boned cartoon display font. Even though it was completely made by hand (using a roller ball pen and some quality paper), it has a clean look, crisp lines and generous curves. Frozen Memory comes in three distinct styles, helping you to create versatile designs. Frozen Memory urges you to eat more ice-cream, but just beware of that brain freeze!

Ramkoers means ‘Collision Course’ in Dutch. I made this font with a bit of salvaged plastic and thick black paint. I carved a wedge out of the plastic and used it as a spatula to apply the paint to the paper. Ramkoers is a bit of a rough & ready grunge font with some jagged edges and wobbly stems. Comes with an abundance of diacritics.

Based upon CA BND (the clean version) CA BND Trash is a rough and dirty version of our favorite DIN-like font. We recommend it for use in zombie movies title design, headlines for ads of a soft-drink manufacturer (who hopes to be cooler, if he uses rough typefaces), or for emocore, hardcore, softcore or "whatever-core" bands. Uhhh, its the time for the living dead.

This bouncy beauty was inspired by Walnetto Casual, designed by Dave West for Photo-Lettering, Inc. in the 1970s, and takes its name from a mythical West Texas beastie. This version has been thoughtfully designed to use Contextual Alternates to avoid unsightly serif collisions for best possible visual effect. Both versions of this font include the complete Latin 1252 and Central European 1250 character sets.

The Kolo family was designed by Paul Shaw, inspired by the lettering of Koloman Moser, Gustav Klimt, Alfred Roller and other members of the Secession, Vienna’s turn-of-the-century Art Nouveau movement. Kolo’s family variants—narrow, regular, wide & alternates—serve as stand-alone display styles, or can be used in combination to pack text creatively in the manner characterized by Secession-period graphics.

A recent walk down memory lane through old college sketchbooks revealed a collection of caricature fish doodles. Then the sketches were discovered by my son who, being a marine life enthusiast, promptly demanded that I draw more fish. Thus, a collection of 71 fish-inspired drawings and bubbly numbers was born. There is even a lemon, since no fish is really complete without one.

Abitare Sans was originally commissioned by the group Rizzoli Corriere della Sera. It’s a typeface of 30 weights designed to be used in Abitare magazine. The request of the president Mario Piazza was a new CP Company with some redesigned glyphs, but the result is a radical evolution of its concept being intended to be used as a font for text far more readable. In Abitare Sans the geometric structure was kept without neglecting the numerous editorial requirements.

Introducing Bayfront, a thick handwritten marker font with a sandy variation! Barnsley Gothic is a condensed sans serif font family. It was designed by Steve Jackaman (ITF) in 2017. It was developed alongside its sister font family, Steelplate Gothic Pro, and includes support for Latin 1 and Central/Eastern European languages. The family is named after the town of Barnsley, a coal mining town in Yorkshire, England. In 1960, there were roughly seventy collieries within a fifteen-mile radius of Barnsley town center, however the last of these closed in 1994. Barnsley Gothic has a straightforward, industrious, no-nonsense feel, much like the town it shares a name with. Always ready to do the heavy lifting in any design project, Barnsley Gothic is the quintessential workhorse font family.

Chank worked with Josh Eshbach, an intern from Minneapolis College of Art and Design, to create Cocaine as the Chank Font of the Month for November 2000. Inspired by Speedball type designs of the ’20s and ’30s, Cocaine has been redrawn and streamlined for use in the digital age. Curvy and round and relishing in its idiosyncrasies, Cocaine recalls vintage French wine posters and antique sheet music covers.
