Inka is the name by which the closest-ones called my partner. Inka is also the name of a text typeface – in its form very friendly and welcoming. The same way as relationships develop through the life, text typefaces develop, too. I had started the work on this typeface about the same time as I met Inka, while reaching the final output has been a long and progressive process. Inka is a modern serif typeface with wide universality in functions (various editorial usages as books, magazines, annual reports…). The concept and the scope of the complete type family are based on the principle of optical sizes of the typeface designed for the particular use of the size of typesetting. Inka consists of several drawing variations for the typesetting of small sizes (Small), text typesetting (Text), larger typesetting sizes (Title), and headlines sizes (Display). Two constructive alternatives, differing in the height of the construction of the font signs, further extend the variability of the usage of the typeface. Inka A has classical proportions ideal for book typesetting. Inka B has lower ascenders and descenders, lower uppercase glyphs and numbers. Typeface with such construction allows us to use the typesetting efficiently while using tighter leading and still looking more contemporary. German Designer Klaus Sutter digitized Bazar, a brush script typeface from the 1950s originally drawn by Imre Reiner (1900-1987) and published in 1956 by D. Stempel AG. Bazar is a calligraphic brush type free from accurate horizontal and vertical strokes and a contrast to the objective body type. It has a more static character and could be perfectly applied in headlines or as a figurative word mark. Like tradional chinese calligraphers, Imre Reiner was also a painter; this is reflected in the glyphs of Bazar.

The main idea behind creating Monly typeface was to combine playfulness with a strong letter construction backbone, so all the letters would stand tall and firm, but not to lose the playfulness. Like people, who grow up but try to save their inner child. By doing so and combining all this, the typeface achieves a great readability and appealing look. Monly font suits best for logos, headlines and small text blocks, but can also be used for big text blocks if the style suits the purpose.

Koi is a highly original, outline display font. Each character is represented by a single continuous line to create a fluid and rhythmic look. The result is something of a hybrid, sitting somewhere between an outline and an inline style, and with an asymmetrical look — something quite rare in a typeface. Many of the characters look like ready made logotypes. Further customisation is easily achieved by extending the end strokes of characters, possibly aligning them and joining them to others to create bespoke arrangements.

I’m not trying to be sarcastic or ironic. But after looking at fridge magnets, postcards, posters and stickers with clever words about love and happiness, I suddenly found them all cheesy. You may have guessed it by now: I’m not into clever words like those…but I do respect if they brighten someones’s life. This font, however, was made to brighten people’s life by being great as a soft, handmade and organic headline font! Use for your favourite quotes, or whatever needs a legible and clear presentation!

Sierra is an antiqua with a high x-height and generous, open counters. Many curves of the letters are almost right angles, which was particularly suited to the Digiset machines from Dr. Ing. Rudolf Hell, Kiel. The forms of Sierra with their flowing stroke contrast and half serifs have a calligraphic touch, which is especially highlighted in the italic weights. This is a graceful text type and its bold weights look almost like woodcuts. Sierra is an excellent choice for both texts and headlines.
