Okoye occupies a liminal space between the bonkers curviness of 19th-century grotesques and the sandblasted neutrality of 20th-century models. Both extremes are nice, but there’s something to be said for some neutrality with character left in place, yes? Okoye comes in 9 weights, Thin to Black. If you’re using it for interfaces, each weight lines up from 100-900 in the CSS specification you already know, with Regular sitting at 400 and Bold at 700. You’ll see what you expect to see without extra font-weight specification. The ITC Blair™ typeface is a revival and reimaging of an early 20th century metal typeface of the same name. Even though only available as single weights of extended and condensed proportions, metal fonts of the face were sold well into the 1950s. This modernized rustic Baroque Roman face paraphrases freely its model from the first half of the 18th century. The shape of the letters has been cleared from all unevenness and softness, but has retained its lively expression. It is deliberately rather cooler than the reverently digitized Baroque Roman type faces, since it was necessary to adjust it with regard to the visual experience of the contemporary reader. In addition, it has bold designs and aligning figures, which also considerably extends the range of its application. It is an entirely reliable text type face for the most demanding extensive works. I got rhythm, I got music, I got my swirls, who could ask for anything more? Periplus is quite an eccentric type, full of twists and nice oddities here and there. It is an all-caps font with 2 variations for each letter and number, stored at upper- and lower-case slots. For added amusement, every letter got not 1 or 2, but 4 swash variations. One can be reached through the OpenType swash feature: just select the letter and hit the swash button. The other ones you will access through a glyphs palette. Basilio Calafati (1800–1878) worked as a magician under the name of Salamucci in the Wiener Prater. Later he obtained the license for a roundabout and other amusement facilities in the Wiener Prater. FinalSix is the typographic adaptation of a lettering. Working on the graphic image for a sports event (the European Waterpolo Final in 2014) we had the idea of creating a character set that reflected the idea of the undulating movement of water in a pool. In practice, we draw characters with rounded tops, bottoms and diagonals and using the word WATERPOLO as a visual reference for a wavy feeling, in a process that we could define as “form follows meaning.” To preserve its personality as much as possible, the most idiosyncratic characters are found in the Default set, while we can find more standardized variations for editorial use in a Stylistic set.

I had a really weird dream the other night, but when I woke up, I had forgotten it. I had the feeling it was about something important, but I cannot, for the life of me, recall what I dreamt about! Forgotten Dream is a horror brush font, which I made with a brushy brush and Chinese ink. It looks like something right out of a nightmare, but you can also use it for something important. Like a ‘keep your distance’ poster, or a sign about the importance of washing ones hands. But then again, if you play in a death metal band, then Forgotten Dream font could be exactly what you need for your album cover!

Beware The Neighbors is based on “Personality Script”, a rough alphabet originally drawn by Ross F. George, and published in one of the Speedball series of lettering catalogs that ran from 1935 to 1948. The design is something of a minor classic, and several foundries have recreated digital fonts based on it. However, mostly of these interpretations are very “geometric”, formed using straight lines. Intellecta preferred to create a new interpretation using smoother, curved lines to create a creepy appearance. Also included are several ligatures and OpenType stylistic alternates.
