Cadmium has a comprehensive latin character set and many Opentype features to enhance text, including small capitals, case-sensitive forms, superscript and subscript. Plenty of numeral variants include old-style figures, lining figures and fractions. Default numerals are proportionally spaced. Alternative styles for a handful of key characters provide some useful variations where stylistic sets can be implemented. The fonts are presented as four width-based sub-families: Expanded, Normal, Condensed and Compressed. Each width has a matching range of six weights and italics (obliques). Regular and Bold weights are style-linked, together with their respective oblique forms. Each width differs in its basic construction but all fonts share the same vertical metrics and may be used in combination with each other. Letter spacing is optimised for text sizes but is tolerant of significant tracking changes. Frederic Goudy joined Lanston as art advisor in 1920. One of his first initiatives was to design a new version of Garamond based on original Garamond designs of 1540. Goudy intended his free-hand drawings to be cut exactly as he had drawn them and fought with the workmen at Lanston to keep them from “correcting” his work. This new type was called Garamont (an acceptable alternate spelling) to distinguish it from other Garamonds on the market. (The other Garamonds on the market at that time were later confirmed to be the work of Jean Jannon.) In 2001, Jim Rimmer digitized Garamont in two weights. The display weight is based on the actual metal outlines to compensate slightly for the ink gain that occurs with letterpress printing. The text weight is a touch heavier and more appropriate for general offset and digital text work. Digital Garamont is available to the public for the first time in 2005.

Aptifer Sans and Aptifer Slab are two 21st century typeface families created by Mårten Thavenius. Each family has seven weights, in roman and italic respectively, making 28 font styles in total. A heritage from two design traditions can be seen in Aptifer. One is the robust American gothic typefaces, like M. F. Benton’s, from around 1900. Giambattista Bodoni (1740–1813) was called the King of Printers and the Bodoni font owes its creation in 1767 to his masterful cutting techniques. Predecessors in a similar style were the typefaces of Pierre Simon Fournier (1712–1768) and the Didot family (1689-1836). The Bodoni font distinguishes itself through the strength of its characters and embodies the rational thinking of the Enlightenment. The new typefaces displaced the Old Face and Transitional styles and was the most popular typeface until the mid-19th century. Bodoni’s influence on typography was dominant until the end of the 19th century and, even today, inspires new creations. Working with this font requires care, as the strong emphasis of the vertical strokes and the marked contrast between the fine and thick lines lessens Bodoni’s legibility, and the font is therefore better in larger print with generous spacing. June is a contemporary neo-grotesque sans-serif typeface designed to be highly legible, readable, and usable. The clarity and mathematics were inspired by the research into type form by Adrian Frutiger. June was designed by developing a modern and unique approach to his findings. June's legible features include a near uniform stroke width, open apertures and counters, angular cut stems, and a large x-height. Italics are angled at eight degrees and have been redesigned to provide a stylistic difference without reducing legibility. Tom Lincoln's award-winning type design work since the 1960s has been one way or another of expressing his fascination for the Roman majuscules inscribed at the base of the Trajan Column in Rome. This time he has really outdone himself by bringing us Roma, a definitive, contemporary, mature sans serif expression of those majuscules. With Roma, Lincoln is not satisfied with simply creating a proper "Trajan Sans". He goes on to make it a family of four weights, with built-in small caps and oldstyle figures, then he really goes to town with the options he makes available for shading and multi-color settings. Precise renderings of the Roma capitals are provided in different fonts that can function individually or be layered atop each other for two- or three-color treatments. The Roma family comes with extended language support that spans the majority of Latin-based languages. Beorcana can be classified as a serifless roman, a stressed sans, a glyphic sans, or calligraphic sans. However it is classified, Beorcana derives not only from other stressed sans designs like Lydian, Amerigo and Optima, but also utilizes classic Renaissance proportions in both Roman and Italic, which facilitate extended reading. This script font was inspired by a lot of autographs, notes and drafts, written by President Abraham Lincoln, mainly the Gettysburg address, first draft and copies, but also the emancipation proclamation. It is an attempt to offer a typical manual script from this American period, not to propose the exact writing from A. Lincoln himself. This font is a little fat and monotone, maybe Abraham Lincoln used a smooth or rounded pen, but some letters I have consulted were written obviously with a sharp one, so, in the future, I will certainly produce a slim version of this font. It is used as variously as web-site titles, posters and fliers design or greeting cards, all various sorts of presentations, menus, certificates, letters. This font supports enlargement as well as small size, though the original size was about 18 to 24 pts. When printed, it remain perfectly legible from 10 to 12 pts.

The new typeface family Vida was specifically designed for Czech Television in the framework of a competition for a new logo in summer 2006. The drawing of each letter form differs finely in its logic, which is a feature invisible at first. It is constructed on a puristic base, but it doesn't reject the natural anomalies already known from ages of experience with latin alphabet. That's why e. g. upper left section of 'n' is constructed differently from that of 'r', similarly as 'd' doesn't repeat right-bottom ending after 'u', '9' is not inverted '6'. Such details improve reading in continuous text. The behavior of all weights is consistent on CRT, plasma or LCD screens due to monolinear design; the lightest weight doesn't fade, the darkest isn't blurred, all is legible and clear in smallest sizes. Stem connections and endings were adjusted to avoid undesirable optical darkening. The goal we desired was to achieve balance appearance in both electronic and printed form.
