In English folklore (in particular that of Yorkshire and Lancashire), Grindylow is a creature that dwells in rivers and lakes and is said to grab children who come too close to the water’s edge and drown them. It is thought the name Grindylow may be connected to the monster Grendel. Grindylow font does not grab children; it is a rather messy handmade brush font. This font came to be when I was creating a cake topper mockup (see the promo images) and didn't have a thick script font that I liked for it. So I got to work writing out some fun chunky cursive letters that could top a cake! The concept of breaking bread is an old one, often meaning two parties working together. In the Breaking Bread font, I've combined that heavy connecting script with a hand-lettered sans-serif uppercase set. It works in all lowercase, all uppercase, and title case with equal ease! I've also included a number of alternates and ligatures, so you can have a truly hand-written look when double-letter words show up, plus a few extra characters and swashes to add some pizzazz to your work. Between the most rigid geometric letterforms and the most expressive calligraphy works there are, undoubtedly, countless combinatory possibilities. Ingeo is just one of them. Located very close to a geometric approach it shows, however, a clear willingness to accommodate in its structure the calligraphic traits of our alphabet. In Ingeo geometry grows from the inside, meaning that all its counters are based on geometric shapes. Around them, contours are later defined. The solid mass resulting from that interaction is modulated in specific areas in a way that evokes the way a writing hand finishes a letter and starts the following one. Ingeo seeks to accommodate calligraphic features in its geometric structure without any complexes, in the same way a computer engineer writes a song or a poet admires the orbits of planets and satellites. In this vast and unmapped realm between seemingly opposing concepts is where Ingeo finds its playground. There, that interaction is pushed to its limits and the resulting letterforms are later confronted with typographical conventions to assess whether they survive. Ingeo comes with 695 glyphs in its character set with support for more than 270 languages. Among these glyphs you can find 5 stylistic sets, 19 useful science-related icons as well as 7 different designs for ampersands.

Rational TW is the typewriter addition to the Rational family. It is a monospaced font building on the same principles as its proportional, neogrotesque brother, such as maximum legibility and flexibility while combining Swiss and American gothic elements with a modern aesthetic. Due to the monospaced environment, some of its letter shapes like “r”, “m”,“f”, “i” and “w” have been slightly adapted but kept the same in appearance. Rational TW comes in two version: Rational TW Display and Rational TW Text. As indicated by its name, Rational TW Text is not limited to, but works best in small font sizes because it features distinctive letter shapes like a double storey “a” or “g” in order to help differentiate similar glyphs in small sizes. Rational TW Display, on the other hand, creates a geometric uniformity by implementing round shapes in “a” and “g”, giving it a subtle friendly and open character. Unlike many other monospaced fonts, Rational TW has a large amount of opentype features like small caps, alternative glyphs, case sensitive shapes, and many more making it the perfect choice for countless scenarios. With more than 700 glpyhs per font, it performs excellently in any project from print to digital.

The Comic-Script by ingoFonts In the past cartoons used to be lettered by hand. Hardly anyone does this today. The reason is, because hardly anyone has nice handwriting these days, so there are practical advantages in having a special font. However the font should still look like it’s been written by hand. Well, most script fonts don’t meet this requirement. The LeDrôle Lettering is a computer font, but closely resembles genuine handwriting. The model for the LeDrôle Lettering is my personal handwriting, as can be seen on the example of the Biró Script, which is also an ingoFont. The habit of capitalization comes from the Romanic and Anglo-Saxon countries. Depending on the purpose they are designed in three significantly bolder weights. In order for the typeface to actually look handwritten, it needs to have clearly visible irregularities. These are not found only in the shapes of the individual letters. Even though LeDrôle Lettering is all in capital letters, the characters of uppercase and lowercase letters are clearly different. Additionally, many alternative shapes are used, which are automatically applied when the OpenType “Ligatures” feature is activated. Thus, there are no identical double letters or numerals, and many character combinations are defined as ligatures with alternative forms.

She did not live to experience her breakthrough as a poet, but today she is considered one of the pioneers of literary modernity – the American lyricist Emily Dickinson (1830–1886). She left behind a life’s work of manuscripts on scraps of paper, note pads and letters – and a last wish, that these were to be burned. Emily’s younger sister Lavinia did not fulfill her wish – and thus preserved the ingenious manuscript-objects for posterity. For Julia Sysmäläinen, designer of the award winning Kafka type family FF Mister K, Dickinson’s manuscripts were an inspiration and a source for creating her new typeface “Emily In White”. Emily In White – named after Emily Dickinson’s preference for white clothes – captures the most filigree letterforms of the poet’s multifaceted writing style. With hundreds of alternates and ligatures and a complex OpenType feature code it manages to revive the lively sequence of single and connected glyphs of a delicate handwriting which has been described as “breezing” and “reminding of bird tracks”. BulletNumbers come in very handy for all kinds of lists that don't exceed 100 categories. I have long since been using my own Bullets in positive and negative and four styles, serif, sans, engravers and script, a fitting one for every occasion. Now I added six more designs and perfected the Bullets for all of you. The following is a »must read«! Here is how to use them: (Important! Set letterspacing to '0', otherwise the two digit numbers will have gaps!!!) The numbers 1-0 reside on the standard keys. Two digit numbers 01-99 can be composed out of left and right half circles by using (lowercase) 'abcdefghij' for the first digit (left half circle) and 'lmnopqrstu' for the second digit (right half circle). The critical pairs (all combinations with 1) can be found in various places. Type '!' for 10, '#' for 11, '$' 12, '%' for 13, '&' for 14, '(' for 15, ')' for 16, '*' for 17, '+' for 18, ',' for 19, '-' for 21, '.' for 31, '/' for 41, ':' for 51, ';' for 61, '?' for 81, '_' for 91.
