Tucked inside the November 5, 1927 issue of a German signpainters' trade paper was a single sheet headed Der Schilder und Schriftenmaler, which featured an alphabet called "Neue Fraktur". Koala was originally designed in 1999 by Eric de Berranger with an individual, independent character.
