The inspiration for this font (as well as the name!) comes from a London cafe I visited years ago. I was fascinated with the handwritten menu - irregular and awkward, yet refreshingly charming. I did my best to recall that particular look by adding 4 slightly different versions of each lowercase letter. The name of the font comes from the speed of the waiter...or the lack of it! But luckily he took his time, otherwise I wouldn't have had the time to really look at the handwritten menu! :)

Nuyork Arabic was designed to emphasize on the individual Arabic letter visual traditional characteristics. Including 5 weights, it was designed with both text and display applications in mind. This font is intended to produce virtually cursive texts without eliminating the clarity or look-and-feel of the individual Arabic letters. Offering glyphs for the full Extended Arabic Unicode Standards 6.1, including the latest Arabic Supplement and Extended-A Unicode blocks, Nuyork Arabic incorporates comprehensive support for Quranic texts and other Arabetic scripts, including African sub-Saharan scripts. Hiroshima Gyoshi is a handwritten font inspired by ancient Japanese calligraphy. The thick and random strokes look very prominent and play with negative space. Fishmonger originated from a commission of two fonts for the corporate identity of a fishmonger shop. When sketching the elementary principles for the lettering, the idea for a modern, extensive font family with a large number of styles was born. The first step consisted of defining the range of widths and weights. Then the master design Medium Regular was completed. The next step was adjusting the Extra Condensed Thin, the Extra Condensed Bold, The Extra Extended Thin and the Extra Extended Bold weights, as they are the vertices of an imaginary square map of the face. This meant that, in order to achieve a harmonious result, the x and y axis needed to be defined. From top to bottom, from the widest to the most condensed cut, the proportions are linear. However, from light to black, the line curves gently, allowing lesser difference between the light cuts, and a dramatic one between the heavier cuts. To ensure the original parameters were respected each position on the vertex was checked against the Medium Regular. After sorting out the ideal set-up, the remaining characters of each of the weights were drawn, and the remaining cuts were interpolated according to the principles above. Fishmonger is a functional, clean design, free of any buoyant, ornamental shapes, almost minimalist. Maybe this is what lends the type family its unique appearance.

This family is a compilation created from a Garamond set in use in Paris circa 1651, but similar to those, eroded and tired, that were in use during centuries to print cheap publications, as well as in Europe than in America, and from a large choice of printed symbols—all specially redrawn—used for alchemical, pharmaceutical and astrological books, covering 1550 to late 1800s period. Each alphabet is doubled by a slightly different one, and a special OTF encoding allows to give an irregular effect with never the same twin letters in a single word. The Normal style is enriched by small caps, and the Italic style by Swashes. A lot of symbols, too, are given twice with differences. This font may be used with our calendar specialized 1689 Almanach.

Designed by Nadine Chahine, the Amariya™ typeface family is intended for long form, on-screen textual content. It supports the Arabic, Persian and Urdu languages. The design is consistent with traditional text typeface models popular in the Middle East, but has a lower level of stroke contrast optimized for on-screen reading. The family is available in nine weights ranging from a light hairline to a very bold black. Mousse Script is based on Glenmoy, a 1932 Stephenson Blake typeface. Glenmoy a prime example of what display typography was in pre-WWII American ad art. It graced the pages of magazines, sold numerous products and services, then simply died out when the typographic trends shifted towards the more personalized, stylized and handwritten types of calligraphy. The current trend in typography is a revivalism that brings all of the distinctive display typography of the 20th century, without chronological discrimination, back in the name of ‘retro’. Who are we to deny the masses what they want? Mousse Script doesn’t just bring Glenmoy back from the ashes of the 20th century. It expands upon the limited metal character set nearly twice over and takes advantage of the latest type technologies. This makes Mousse Script a striking typeface, both functionally and visually.
