Bowling has letters on bowling pins. On the upper-case keys, the bowling pins are white with black letters and on the lower-case keys the pins are black with white letters. My Dizzy Edge font is really not that dizzy! JY Décennie Express was developed as a sans serif workhorse complement to JY Décennie. The basic roman design shares characteristics, and in some cases, characters (e, o, and others) with the serif version, making JY Décennie Express work particularly well with its progenitor. The design is friendly and approachable, as opposed to stark (the effect one usually has with Helvetica and other over-used typefaces). On closer inspection, straight lines blend into curves on the outlines: the characters are in fact complex but appear simple.

Das Grotesk was inspired by earlier nineteenth-century grotesques, but it is much more related to American gothic designs such as those by M.F. Benton. Due to their pure geometric structure, most grotesque typefaces tend to have a rather monotonous and lifeless appearance, thus failing to express the ideals of the modern creed. Das Grotesk on the other hand is a lively design with several distinguishable characteristics which attract attention when set at large sizes, whilst they become subtle and blend evenly at small sizes, fostering a neutral identity. This is a very legible and space-saving typeface with a narrow structure. It was designed with slanted curved ends and sheared terminals applied on several straight strokes. It has two-storey ‘a’ and ‘g’ but includes single-storey alternates. The family consists of 14 weights ranging from Extra Thin to Black (including true-italics). Gimbo is bold. This heavy sans-serif design features thin counters. The interior spaces inside letterforms have been reduced as much as possible. Often, they seem abstract. There are three fonts in the Gimbo family: Black, Ultra, and Ultra Shadow. What do those terms mean? Well, Ultra is wider than Black. It takes up more pixels on-screen or brings more ink to the page.

Hadron is a fusion of gothic black letter and foundational letter forms. It has a heavy flat pen influence but is combined with more modern letter forms for increased legibility over that offered by black letter fonts. Unlike most black letter fonts, Hadron can be set all caps using the first level of caps. A basic design kernel based on the caps “O” and “H” was created first. These letter forms consist of an interplay between curves and straight lines with abrupt transitions and also possess some of the geometric crispness of a modern sans serif. The rest of the Hadron font was developed around this “O” and “H” kernel. This font could be used for any application requiring a formal black letter or foundational lettering look. Hadron could also be used for invitations, brochures and posters. The first level of caps and lower case is basic enough to set a large body of text. It could also be set all caps at that level.

The grandeur of what was Miami Beach had its golden years peak in the 1940s. One of the grande dame hotels that stood at Collins Avenue and 23rd Street was the Roney Plaza; built in the 1920s and demolished around 1969. An online auction offered a pair of gummed labels provided by the hotel to be used by their guests for shipping souvenir packages back home, thus also giving the hotel a promotional plug. Jeff Levine not only created two typefaces from this hand-lettered label - Old Miami Beach JNL and Old Miami Beach Nights JNL (a solid black version), but painstakingly recreated the look of the label for the promotional flag and banner for the fonts.

Gilmore Fahrenheit is a glyphic, sans serif typeface that was inspired from early designs by the renowned English typographer Eric Gill. It was designed in 1992 by A. Destructive Decisions is a font based upon the inherent flaws of human nature—presented under the guise of complete legibility. Stupid Meeting is an all caps display sans that didn't quite get its full 8 hours of sleep. A lot of attitude went into the design process and it shows throughout the entire character set. From a distance it looks fairly pedestrian but the closer you get, the rougher it gets around the edges. It's very simple, yet extremely playful. This family is available in 3 different styles. Use Stupid Meeting for a cartoon, product packaging, or a logo. Try the Eroded version for menu lettering or a band poster. Caps only Fonts.

This set of initial decorated letters was inspired by a font in use in the beginning of 1500s in Paris. Exactly, we have used the set that Barthélémy Verand employed for the printing of Triumphus translatez de langage Tuscan en François, (from “Triumph” of Petrarque) in the year 1514. Some letters, lacked, have been reconstructed to propose a complete alphabet. It appears that the printer used some letters to replace others, as V, turned over to make a A, or D to make a Q. The original font’s letters were drawn in white on a black background only, but it was tempting to propose a negative version in black on white. It is used as variously as web-site titles, posters and flyers design, publishing texts looking like ancient ones, or greeting cards, all various sorts of presentations, as a very decorative, elegant and luxurious additional font. This font supports strong enlargements remaining very smart and fine. It’s original medieval hight is about one inch equivalent to about four lines of characters. This font may be used with all blackletter fonts, but works particularly well with 1543 Humane Jenson, 1557 Italic and 1742 Civilite, without any anachronism.

"A capital titling face with numerals, erroneously labelled in Figgins specimen book of 1817 as an 'antique' or roman. With a very bold, nearly monoline construction and squared serifs as thick as the main stroke, this type surpassed even the fat face style in blackness, it was popularised by the advent of handbills and early advertising posters, which needed bold type styles to project commercial messages from a distance. A sign-writer friend of mine theorises that the Egyptian style originated with the North African campaigns (hence Egyptian) of Napoleon Bonaparte, and the type historian Ruari McLean also suggests that the Egyptian style originated with signwriters 'block' letters, just like the prototypical (and contemporary) sans serif of Caslon IV."
