Morro is based on simple geometric shapes – circles, triangles and rectangles. Imagine cutting circles, triangels and rectangles from paper and arranging them into letters where the outer edges form a filled figure. Arranging figures like this to form letters is nothing unique. You can find several beautiful examples of alphabets that inspired the creation of Morro. Everywhere from a 1936 booklet by Draughtsman called ”Modern lettering for all branches of commercial arts” to obvious examples is from the paragon of the design industry - Milton Glaser - with his typeface Baby Teeth. What sets Morro apart from other digitized versions of Glasers' ”Baby teeth”, or other similar designed fonts, is that Morro is expanded into lower case and also supports Basic latin, Western European, Central European, south Eastern European and Pinyin. This circa 1910 European face was introduced into the United States by a German type foundry traveling salesman during the great depression of the 1930s. We have used it quite successfuly in sizes as small as 10 and 12 point.

Royalist Pro is an expanded OpenType font based on "Secretary Hand" from the time of the English Civil War, circa 1632. This Pro version includes over 500 glyphs with alternate characters, ligatures and full Western and Central European Characters sets.

LTC Keystone Ornaments is a set of over 100 glyphs based on "running border" ornaments from Keystone Type Foundry of Philadelphia, circa 1903. These geometric dingbats can be used individually for decorative emphasis, or combined in repetitive lines or complex patterns.

This font was adapted from an old lettering book, circa 1900. The book got away from us many years ago, but we had made stats of all the potentially useful fonts. Original had no lowercase or numerals, so we designed them.

Elizabethan is part of the fonts designed by Ted Staunton for his historic novel centered around a family bible and the handwritten annotation through seven generations. The Elizabethan font is based on a style known as “secretary hand” circa 1610.

The Scaffoldini Family provides four different isometric perspectives and is suitable in use in science, engineering and sci-fi themed projects or however you see fit. I am inspired by imagery that technology has rendered obsolete. I treasure anachronistic packaging and design which has somehow evaded obliteration by focus groups.I especially admire the packaging for A&P coffee brands Eight O'Clock, Red Circle and Bokar whose eccentric yet elegant typography harkens back to an earlier, less complicated era. The font Bokar is my nod of appreciation to those robust and full-bodied blends spared from the bland, tasteless scourge of corporate branding.

If Publication JNL looks very familiar, this is no accident of design. It is Jeff Levine’s rendering of De Vinne, a classic typeface designed in honor of T.L. De Vinne (circa 1890-91) and given the gentle nuance of emulating hand-set type.

A piece of sheet music for “Broken Blossoms” circa the 1920s or early 1930s has its cover title hand lettered in a wide thick-and-thin Art Deco design. This is now available as Flower Shop JNL, in both regular and oblique versions.

Page Printer JNL was inspired by “Skeleton”, from the William H. Page Wood Type Foundry circa 1848. Its name is a play on both Page’s surname as well as contemporary desktop printers. Page Printer JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Stencil Deco JNL was an experimental modification of Jeff Levine's Cardboard Cutouts JNL font, originally designed from an authentic stencil source circa the 1950s. This version is a fusion of the Art-Deco style and a modern, trendy approach to the stroke weights.

Vintage (circa 1960s) packaging for Parker Cartridge Pen Erasers had the product description printed in bold stencil lettering featuring a squared look with rounded corners. This design has been recreated digitally as Marketing Stencil JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Based on William Page’s Skeleton Antique wood type (circa 1865), Local Printer JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions. Primarily used for text passages, the type design also works well in headlines and sub-headlines needing less emphasis and a touch of subtlety.

This unusual headline font is based on lettering found on a travel poster, advertising passage to Morocco on the Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée line, designer unknown, circa 1930. Both versions of this font include the complete Unicode Latin 1252 and Central European 1250 character sets.

Vintage packaging [circa 1940s] for a sewing machine attachment used for making lattice-type stitching had its information hand lettered in a casual Art Deco sans serif design. This became the basis of Home Economics JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Hustlers™ was inspired by carnival, circus and tattoo signs shop from the late 1800's. It works well with normal size text, but works even better for large displays, short words, or just to incorporate a few or single characters in a design.

Here's a page from the Page Company, circa 1850, originally called Doric. This version is reasonably faithful to the original, but streamlined for better reporduction at a variety of sizes. Both versions support the Latin 1252, Central European 1250, Turkish 1254 and Baltic 1257 codepages.

I am not really sure if goldfish in general are lucky. They tend to swim in circles in a bowl, but maybe, years from now, scientists discover that these goldfish count themselves lucky to be in a bowl, rather than in a stream in Asia. Personally, I think they’d be better off in a stream. Lucky Goldfish font is a cute and happy font, ideally suited for book covers, posters and toy packaging. Comes with a school of diacritics too.
