This is a revival font of a sixteenth century typeface. I kept this font as close as possible to the original letters, including the imperfections and irregularities, to preserve the look of antiquity. Some of the letters of the original sample were missing and had to be created from the available letters.

Londrina is formerly known as Folk. The Londrina family originally had four typefaces: Solid, Shadow, Outline and Sketches. The idea is to combine the main typeface Solid with the others, experiencing different outlines. Now Londrina has three new weights: Thin, Book and Black, growing the family to work with the Solid version.

Many fonts have carried this name. Ours goes back to just before 1900 in France. This general style had considerable popularity among job printers all over Europe. We have even seen it used for name imprints on medical school diplomas, which seems a bit grotesk. Surely you can do something better with it.

An ongoing movie review column known as the "Critic's Forum" (such as was found in the May 23, 1936 issue of The Film Daily) had a simple Art Deco monoline hand lettering of the column's name. Handy Andy Andy Lethbridge had only just completed his graphic design BA at the University of Portsmouth when he was spotted by Jason, who’d seen Andy’s exquisite hand lettering at his degree show and on Instagram. Keen to push the handwritten theme further, having recently launched a digitally-created, chalky script font (FS Sammy), Jason offered Andy a job and the chance to develop a suite of more stylised, truly hand-drawn fonts. Andy duly got out his pads, pencils and pens, and started experimenting with styles and textures. Magic followed. Imperfection perfected Most ‘handwritten’ typefaces are created entirely digitally. Not FS Shepton. From the start, the intention was to create a collection of alphabets of similar character but different texture and style – 100% hand-drawn and purposely imperfect, with the kind of inconsistent, organic shapes and textures of market stall signs, dashed off in chalk or paint. FS Shepton Regular, drawn with a wet brush pen, is solid with a rough outer edge and a casual but controlled feel. The dry brush used to create FS Shepton Light gives it more inner texture and a more formal, slanted, calligraphic style. FS Shepton Bold, drawn using a wider, looser dry brush pen, has a woody grain in the middle of its broad strokes and greater solidity where the brush moves more slowly. Fresh as a daisy Think of FS Shepton not as a family of three weights of the same font so much as a collection of three fonts penned by the same author. All of them – the light, regular and bold – were created independently as display fonts that offer something different to labelling, packaging, point-of-sale and advertising. During the turbulent era of the 1960s, the youth of America found various ways to protest against "The Establishment". Whether it was campus unrest, protest songs, sit-ins or other methods, the message was the counter-culture movement. Arising from this disenchantment with traditional social standards, a small but effective means of protest arose that made no sound, yet spoke volumes - the pin button. Statements against the war in Vietnam, free love, drug use and other messages popped up on little metal discs pinned to tee shirts, suspenders, head band and hats. Only this year I decided to expand the original 1994 design to include other weight variants. The quirky Binner Gothic-inspired high axis and its funky g, rounded e, angled stroke endings together with the influence of contemporary designs such as Officina Sans, Din Mittelschrift and MetaPlus, Bougainville exhibits a similar flavor and compactness to Bodega Sans. This typeface family has been named in honor of the renowned eighteen-century French mathematician and explorer Louis-Antoine de Bougainville to whom we owe the naming of South Sea Islands and colorful tropical flora he discovered along his journey. Bougainville makes for effective headings at any size and is equally readable at semi-display sizes.
