Mr. Edward Benguiat the dreator of ITC Panache, has all the dash, verve (and panache) hinted at in the design, Creative, capable and prolific, Ed Benguiat has drawn hundreds of exciting and popular typeface designs. Benguiat's design goal was to create a sans serif typestyle that is versatile, utilitarian - and distinctive. We think he has succeeded admirably. ITC Panache's three weights mix exceptionally well to complement each other or provide emphasis where necessary. Extensive testing at text sizes and design fine-tuning has produced a typeface family which is remarkably homogenous and consistent in color. Text set in ITC Panache is inviting without dissapointment. It is exceptionally easy to read, even in long text blocks of copy or small point sizes. When set in larger sizes or used for headlines, ITC Panache's character traits becomes more apparent and pronounced to the reader. They help to create graphics with distinction and style. Big or small. a little or a lot. it's hard not to use ITC Panache well. If you could pigeonhole ITC Panache, it would probably be classified as a stressed sans", but this would not completely describe, or do justiceto, the design. There is a slight contrast in stroke weight, which becomes more pronounced as the familiy weight increases; but there is a more to distinguish ITC Panache from ather sans serifs. Perhaps most obvious is its high waist and correspondingly slight condensation of the top half of the "round" capitals. Both of these traits link ITC Panache with the sensuous forms of art nouveau creations. In contrast are the typicall old style "e" found in designs like Cloister and ITC Berkeley Old Style, and the two storied "g" common to the early 20th century sans serif designs. The capital "A" even has the cupped top found in Caslon designs. Part of the beauty of ITC Panache is that all of these seemingly unrelated desig traits are melded into a design of exceptional continuity."

Artisinal, not to be confused with the term artisanal, is our revival of the Art Deco typeface known as Cubist Bold, by John W. Zimmerman for Barnhardt Bros. & Spindler in 1929, breathes new life into a classic. The original metal cast typeface was designed without a lowercase, as well as some wedge serif capitals made for not always perfect pairings. Neo Contact is the typeface used on the packaging of Marlboro cigarettes (Marlboro “Reds,” the main line of the brand). The typeface is bold and condensed, designed in the Egyptienne style. Egyptienne types were first designed in the 1800s, as type founders - especially in the westward-expanding United States - began to dream up newer, bolder styles of letters for advertising usage. During the 1800s, it became increasingly important for businesses to set themselves, and their products, apart from competitors. This desire has remained with corporations, as well as with advertisers and designers, into the 21st century. In addition to cigarette packaging, Neo Contact (as part of Marlboro’s branding efforts) can be seen on numerous items, including Ferrari’s F1 racers, and at Formula 1 race tracks. Odisseia: Monospaced Typeface Made on Earth by Plau. Plau presents Odisseia, a monospace type family in 8 styles designed with simplicity of shapes and a humanist touch. We’ve ventured into monospace territory, where all letters must occupy the same amount of space. This style is usually associated with typewriters and computer terminal fonts. Like all monospaced fonts, every letter align vertically in a multi-line setting. The rhythm created is peculiar, since large letters such as m and w occupy the same space as narrow ones like i. Because we have 4 different weights: light, regular, bold and black the design of some characters have to be adapted to fit the same width and achieve a constant light/dark value throughout. These features make Odisseia suitable for a specific yet considerable range of uses, from computer coding to systemized communication such as brand identities. This style has been used from high-end brand identity to cutting edge digital applications. Odisseia sets a little shorter in comparison with other monospaced fonts, and bears a large x-height.

Capitolium was designed in 1998 at the request of the Agenzia romana per la preparatione del Giubileo for the Jubilee of the Roman Catholic Church in 2000. This type design was the central part of the project for a wayfinding and information system to guide pilgrims and tourists through Rome. Capitolium also continues Rome’s almost uninterrupted two-thousand-year-old tradition of public lettering . It is a modern typeface for the twenty-first century and strongly related to the traditions of Rome. Soon after the completion of this project Unger began contemplating the possibility of bringing the atmosphere of this design to newspapers. Though Capitolium works well in most modern production processes and also on screens, it is too fragile for newsprint. For newspapers sturdier shapes were required as well as more characters to a line of text, and Capitolium News has a bigger x-height than Capitolium. Capitolium News is a thoroughly modern newsface, with classic letterforms linked to a strong tradition. Capitolium News for running text comes in the variations regular, italic, semibold, semibold italic, bold and bold italic. As is possible with most of Unger’s type designs, Capitolium News can be condensed and expanded without any harm to the letterforms.
