Supera Gothic is a design inspired by the early geometric and humanist typefaces of the 20th century. Its characters draw inspiration from Erbar Grotesk by Jakob Erbar and Johnston by Edward Johnston; hence, in heavier weights, the “f” and “t” bars are pointed which honor Erbar’s work, and Supera’s uppercases and numbers reflect Johnston’s proportions and features. The result is a sans serif family with both, a historical and modern touch perfectly suited for all types of graphic works. Super Gothic comes in 9 weights plus its matching italics and is equipped with a large range of opentype features. Fun fact, Erbar had attended calligraphy classes carried out by Anna Simons, who was a former student of Johnston (Tracy, 1986). This font is mainly inspired from the engraved characters of a German Map depicting Germany's roads and parts of surrounding lands, edited in Berlin probably in the end of 1700's. The engraver was Carl Jaeck or Jaek (1763-1808). The Map was bought by the French napoleonic general Louis Pierre Delosme (1768-1828) probably during the Napolenic campaign against Germany, circa 1805 or at least 1806, his sole staying in Germany. The font (with two styles, Normal and Italic)is containing standard ligatures and a few alternative characters. It is a "small eye" or "Small x-eight" font, as the Maps' characters are most often very small (some Italic lower cases of the map are 1mm hight, upper cases 2mm) The standard English characters set is completed with accented or specific characters for Western (Including Celtic) and Central European, Baltic, Eastern Europe and Turkish languages.

Du is a self hommage to Uncertain Felttip. Uncertain, made in 2008, is a typeface which reproduced faithfully the style in which I am writing on copy paper, usually using the felt-tip pen. This time, I wrote the new family by the same method but using the tablet PC and the touch pen. Although, as for some characters, Uncertain differs in a form, it is the result of reflecting my hand writing. I wrote all the characters. If it is original, all the characters diverted and composed, for example, characters, such as Aacute and Agrave, are written. Different specification from Uncertain is family composition. Although Uncertain had only 3 weight, 7 weight were designed for Du. This way a user can choose his favorite weight because the variation of weights increased.

Weekly: a slab serif that wants to be a sans. The font was created under the premise that it can be used as a sans: a fresh design without that retro feel typical of slab fonts. As a result, we developed an Egyptienne font—more simple compared to others of its kind, a feature that gives it its unique personality. Weekly was based on fonts with humanist proportions, such as ‘Oficina’ and ‘Caecilia’, both created in the ’90s. Typefaces like these give designers the possibility to use them in books or magazines, in contrast to geometric slab fonts or early 20th century fat faces, which are mainly used for advertising or display text. Another feature that reminds us of humanist sans fonts is the small difference between x-height and cap-height. Some characters in Weekly like ‘a’ or ‘g’ lack serifs and some like ‘c’ or ’s’ have short serifs, giving it a semi-serif air. Weekly comes in both light and heavy weights. The heavier ones bear resemblance to Egyptienne slab serif typefaces with strong personality. These variants are ideal for use in posters and big, powerful headings.

Oscar Niemeyer is one of the greatest architects of our time—his unique way of mixing straight lines and abstract curves gives rise to an unmistakable and characteristic style. This typeface is my own tribute to Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. The design process started when my wife and I visited Brazil while she was running a series of workshops on calligraphy. In my spare time, I would walk through the streets of beautiful cities like Rio de Janeiro or São Paulo, enjoying the local architecture and urban life. I had also the opportunity to attend to some of the workshops during which I was able to observe the organic of calligraphy and people. Then, I started to draw some shapes that reflected everything about this beautiful place: Niemeyer’s architecture and work and, in his own words ‘the curves on the body of the beloved woman’. This versatile typeface comes in 8 weights with matching italics, alternative characters, oldstyle figures and much more! Niemeyer is well-suited for logotypes, advertising, publishing, branding and corporate use. Mullen Hand is the fresh digitization and expansion of a Jerry Mullen metal typeface called Repro, originally published by ATF in 1953. The connectivity of certain letters in the original type was limited by metal technology, but this new digital version is updated to resolve those issues with. Two- and three-letter ligatures take care of the r, s, x and z connections. These ligatures are programmed in the 'liga' feature of the OpenType version, so they automatically activate in programs that support advanced typography. Casual, tall, and elegantly friendly, Mullen Hand's even strokes and confident connections embody the spirit of contentedness and reassurance sought by today's appeal designer. ANGOLI is characterized by line geometric and simple. This font is ideal for titles and text in large sizes. The font has two uppercase versions. To realize this character I was inspired by angular shapes of the buildings. Each character has the characteristic of being formed by a single continuous line.

I’m not particularly fond of beans. I do eat them, but they’re not my idea of a delicacy… But this font has ‘fairy tale’ feeling to it, and I liked the name Beanstalker. Beanstalker is a hand made font (I used a fineliner to draw the glyphs). It is quite neat and organized, but does come with some rough edges and a bit of texture.

Kodama are spirits in Japanese folklore that inhabit trees. The term is also used for trees in which a kodama houses. Kodama Forest is a rough, spikey and inky font, in the style of the great Ralph Steadman. Kodama Forest comes with a bunch of alternates, some interesting ligatures and a lot of splatter. And, of course, all the diacritics you can throw a tree spirit at.

FDI Reklameschrift is a carefully crafted digitization and extension of “Reklameschrift Bombe”, originally released in 1908 at the type foundry Ludwig & Mayer. FDI Reklameschrift covers Western, Eastern and Central European Latin and comes in two versions: Version A is as close as possible to the original design, containing some blackletter-style letterforms. Version B replaces these letterforms to improve legibility and allow a modern use.

Here’s yet another interpretation of the classic “thick and thin” sans serif lettering most popular during the Art Deco era. This particular design comes to you through the courtesy of a hand lettered 1930s travel poster from the Pennsylvania Railroad. Some capitals are much wider than others, while the lower case ‘i’ is somewhat truncated. Rail Travel JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Ramkoers means ‘Collision Course’ in Dutch. I made this font with a bit of salvaged plastic and thick black paint. I carved a wedge out of the plastic and used it as a spatula to apply the paint to the paper. Ramkoers is a bit of a rough & ready grunge font with some jagged edges and wobbly stems. Comes with an abundance of diacritics.

Schreibmeister is my interpretation of Arno Drescher’s design for Ludwig Wagner, Leipzig, completed in 1958. The letters X and x were improved as well as some ligatures. The letter E has an alternative, and the small d comes with two alternatives, of which one form can be reached by typing the partial different key. Generally it is recommended to activate both Standard and Discretionary ligatures.
