Umbra was designed by R. Hunter Middleton for the Ludlow Corporation in 1935. This is a three-dimensional typeface, unique in that the main character shape is defined only by its shadow. CS are the initials of Carsten Strinkau, a young German graphic and type designer who studied in Hamburg.
