Strongbox JNL is based in part on an incomplete sample of an old wood type alphabet seen on an image sharing site. Overton JNL is based on some of the preliminary letter designs by Rudolf Wolf which evolved into his 1929 type design Memphis and is available in both regular and oblique versions. A 1970s Photolettering catalog indentified the pattern for this typeface as "Exotique" ...from France, no less. I started creating this font at my university while studying graphic design. It's constructed using nails in different sizes and various parts of floppy-disks. Henrician can claim two sources of inspiration. One of these was a set of beautiful capital letterforms seen on the cover of a 19th century album of engravings. The engravings contained therein depicted lovely examples of half-timbered Tudor architecture and there was a clear 'Tudor' intent behind the letterforms. I happened to come across a facsimile of a sample of text with typeface made by Sweynheim & Pannartz in 1476. I scanned the sample, and redraw all the available glyphs from the sample in RobFog. After that I added the missing characters by copying and pasting the forms of the original characters, and filling in the missing parts.
