Bramante™ is an original display font by LetterPerfect Fonts, designed by Garrett Boge in 2020. It is modeled after a fifteenth-century inscription in the church of Santa Cecilia in Trastevere, Rome. The name is a tribute to the pre-eminent Renaissance architect Donato Bramante, whose Tempietto (1502, San Pietro in Montorio) marked the beginning of the High Renaissance in Rome. In 1503 he was named lead architect for the new St. Peter's Basilica, which was completed by Michelangelo, Maderno and Bernini a century later. Based on the pervasive use of Adobe Trajan as a classical-inspired titling face, LetterPerfect offers this Renaissance revival of imperial Roman capitals as an alternative with additional refinement and personality. (The full size capitals are complemented with small capitals in the lowercase positions.)

Khazar, member of a confederation of Turkic-speaking tribes that in the late 6th century CE established a major commercial empire covering the southeastern section of modern European Russia. Although the origin of the term Khazar and the early history of the Khazar people are obscure, it is fairly certain that the Khazars were originally located in the northern Caucasus region and were part of the western Turkic empire (in Turkistan). The Khazars were in contact with the Persians in the mid-6th century CE, and they aided the Byzantine emperor Heraclius (reigned 610–641) in his campaign against the Persians. Although the Khazar Empire had a secular administrative structure, the administrative staff chose the Jewish religion. The Khazars are the only Turkish state that converted to Judaism.

Roadhouse is a layering typeface family that is part of the greater Evanston type collection, which is inspired by American typefaces commonly used at the turn of the century leading up to Prohibition. Roadhouse reflects the style of lettering used on tavern signage and printed ephemera during the early 20th century. Years ago, by happenstance, designers Nancy Mazzei and Brian Kelly found an old decrepit typewriter in an abandoned lot with tall grass in Brooklyn. They kept it around their apartment for two years. Then one day they decided that it was time to move and they planned to throw the old typewriter away. But it was so beautiful they wanted to keep at least a part of it. So they decided on keeping the keys. They kept the keys in a brown bag until one fine day the keys were introduced to a camera. It was a match made in heaven that resulted in some beautiful quirky images of typewriter keys. These images were the inspiration for Backspacer. They were scanned, traced and turned into a working typeface by Zuzana Licko.

Bouteilles is French for bottles. No fancy name this time, just bottles. You’re probably wondering why I chose this name… Well, I was taking out the glass (in Holland we recycle just about everything, glass, paper, plastic, metal, garden and kitchen waste, etc.), which included a number of French wine bottles. As I was throwing them into the underground container one block from where I live, I realised that the word Bouteilles actually sounds great and it would be a nice name for a font! Yes, it is that simple! Bouteilles is a nice brush font I made with my trusted Chinese ink and a really worn brush I found. It comes with all the diacritics you need plus two sets of alternates, which you can play with!

Palatino Sans Informal was designed as part of a group of three font families: Palatino nova, Palatino Sans, and Palatino Sans Informal. Together these three families act as the fulfilment of Herman Zapf’s original Palatino idea. Palatino, which was born as a metal typeface in 1950, proved to be one of the 20th Century’s most popular designs. Not only is Palatino Sans Informal a completely new typeface, it is also a completely new interpretation of the entire sans serif genre. Its letterforms are curved, rounded, and soft, not hard and industrial. In comparison with Palatino Sans, Palatino Sans Informal offers eccentricities that are somewhat artistic and more individual looking. The fonts in the Palatino Sans Informal family include several OpenType features, such as an extended character set covering all Latin-based European languages, old style figures, small caps, fractions, ordinals, ligatures, alternates, and ornaments. Palatino Sans Informal can be mixed well with Palatino and Palatino Sans.

High Cut came about by this found object I stumbled upon, while exploring an abandoned building, which had this word "High" cut out of it in a similar stencil design. I thought it would be a fun challenge to create an entire typeface inspired by this found object. Enjoy this new stencil typeface!

Boller is based on handwriting found on the blueprints for the Jayhawk Theater in Kansas. Thomas Williams & Boller Bros. Architects are the only names found on the blueprints. The character set is extremely limited and many of the missing characters are extrapolated from existing letters and symbols. Ideal and distinctive at large sizes.

Gold Standard got its start from a few letters found on an old Gold Certificate from 1882. From those few letters spelling out the word GOLD, the rest of the alphabet was designed to match. The lowercase design was based on lettering found on an old silver certificate from approximately the same year.

Dynasty is an extensive and versatile family that exploration and modernisation of the typographic quirks associated with the 'American Gothic' type school (in much the same way as English Grotesque was an exploration of Gill/Johnston idea-space) and adds chamfered elements to dots and tails to emphasise and extend the early machine-made aesthetic. Elegantly clean and readable at headline and small text settings, where (as with all fonts in small sizes) the introduction of tracking will improve legibility.

Rokha is a wedge-serif typeface with 5 weights plus obliques. Its sharp serifs were inspired by Goudy's classic Copperplate Gothic, Rokha feels land looks like carved stone, edgy and sharp. Serifs are exaggerated, pointy, and strong, this font demands attention from the viewer at all costs. Lower and uppercase letters make it more amicable in different contexts and give it extra versatility. Bluenote is a font based on Franklin Gothic condensed. In the 60s and 70s the record label Blue Note published all those classic jazz records of my youth. Someone at their arts department cut letters to ribbons and designed wonderful record covers with those fragmented glyphs. I recently had a look at my music collection and rediscovered these letters. Caflisch Script was designed by Robert Slimbach in 1993. The design is based on the handwriting of Max Caflisch, one of the foremost graphic designers of this century. Caflisch, a teacher of graphic arts for over three decades in Zurich, is author of several books on typography and designer of the 1952 Columna typeface. Caflisch�s handwriting has a free flowing yet disciplined character, the result of years of practice and devotion to the calligraphic arts. Slimbach retained the subtleties and natural letter joins of Caflisch�s original handwriting while adapting it into a typographically sound and highly practical script typeface. Caflisch Script is a multiple master typeface with a weight axis that allows the typeface to transition smoothly from light to heavy weights, maintaining legibility and visual appeal at a full range of point sizes. The master of the dancing brush, Angel Koziupa, and the node-obsessed perfectionist, Alejandro Paul, offer up another bucket of fun with Malambo. This time Koziupa allows his brush to jitter one whole millimeter, and Paul digitizes with two eyes instead of his usual three. Follow your heart, but consume an ounce of peroxide first. Full of energy and cheeky mischief, Malambo tells the eye amusing stories of mirrorless shaving accidents, wine mistakenly poured over the morning cereal, and someone who trips over his own shadow on the dance floor, yet keeps on dancing. And dancing is what this typeface is all about. Malambo is a traditional Argentine dance performed by the gauchos (the Argentine equivalent of 19th century North American cowboys?). The gauchos are still around in the less than touristic areas of Argentina. And although they dance quite passionately and make the heartiest parrillas, most of them probably don't know what a font is. But you know, and we know. And that's something. Malambo was selected as the Best in show display font at the Biennial Letras Latinas.
