Guillotine is inspired by an uncredited early 1970s film face called Rhythm Bold. While the original film type had plenty of round forms that were uneven and somewhat badly drawn to fit within the overwhelming pop wave of the time, this digital incarnation disposes of all curves, relies on a much sharper grid, and adheres to specific parameters of stroke widths and angles. Guillotine is a thick poster classic, mechanically constructed yet clearly exhibiting the idiosyncratic traits of hand drawing. Its forms embody the amalgamation of a multitude of influences, such as woodcut letters, punch card forms, and the unique art nouveau concepts that were popular in the 1960s and 1970s. The totality of the font is a strong display aesthetic that plays very well anywhere the eye is meant to see a strong but casual, sharp but hand crafted message. The Chikita design is rooted in the work of 1930s Dutch lettering artist Martin Meÿer, whose little-known work concerned itself with the beauty of letters mostly as individual forms, rather than part of a flowing alphabet. Chikita was reconceptualized to strike a great balance between singular and flowing beauties, resulting in a cheerful and very memorable expression. Mullen Hand is the fresh digitization and expansion of a Jerry Mullen metal typeface called Repro, originally published by ATF in 1953. The connectivity of certain letters in the original type was limited by metal technology, but this new digital version is updated to resolve those issues with. Two- and three-letter ligatures take care of the r, s, x and z connections. These ligatures are programmed in the 'liga' feature of the OpenType version, so they automatically activate in programs that support advanced typography. Casual, tall, and elegantly friendly, Mullen Hand's even strokes and confident connections embody the spirit of contentedness and reassurance sought by today's appeal designer. Many years ago I created two upside-down typefaces, UpsidedownJJ and UpsidedownTOC. They were based on monospaced or typewriter fonts, and were rotated 180 degrees, which is the same as a vertical flip followed by a horizontal flip. Recently I was reminded that this way of creating an upside-down typeface is not the only way to create an upside-down typeface--a simple vertical flip creates a different one. That is what this typeface is, a simple vertical flip. The original typeface on which this one is based is JetJaneMono.

Many years ago I created two upside-down typefaces, UpsidedownJJ and UpsidedownTOC. Bylum is put together with a bulbous line segment that makes up the bulk of the font. The verticals bulge out in the middle, the curves vary in width along their lengths. This gives the font a relaxed sway to it even while its verticals are upright and its design is fairly regimented.

Gold Standard got its start from a few letters found on an old Gold Certificate from 1882. From those few letters spelling out the word GOLD, the rest of the alphabet was designed to match. The lowercase design was based on lettering found on an old silver certificate from approximately the same year.

Aplomb was designed to fill the "contemporary fantasy" niche, hinting at Celtic magic overlaying a solid, legible contemporary font. Aplomb is intended for book covers, movie posters and advertisements, DVD covers, magazine pages, fantasy comic pages, in fact wherever contemporary and fantasy meet! The font comes in two styles - smallcaps and regular. Aplomb is fully professional, carefully letterspaced and kerned. All upper and lower case characters, punctuation, numerals and accented characters are present.

I am not sure exactly how to classify these geometrical ornaments. They resemble the arabesque ornamentation of medieval Islamic art, but also have similarities to Celtic knots and to some Chinese and Korean ornamentation. The bolder of the two only works well at very large point sizes, while the thinner is designed for use at smaller point sizes. There are usually similar ornaments on the same characters of the two, but not always.

Lepontic is an ancient Alpine Celtic language that was spoken in parts of Rhaetia and Cisalpine Gaul (now Northern Italy) between 550 and 100 BC. Lepontic is attested in inscriptions found in an area centered on Lugano, Switzerland, and including the Lake Como and Lake Maggiore areas of Italy. While some recent scholarship (e.g. Eska 1998) has tended to consider Lepontic simply as an early outlying form of Gaulish and closely akin to other, later attestations of Gaulish in Italy (Cisalpine Gaulish), some scholars (notably Lejeune 1971) continue to view it as a distinct Continental Celtic language. In this latter view, the earlier inscriptions found within a 50 km radius of Lugano are considered Lepontic, while the later ones, to the immediate south of this area, are considered Cisalpine Gaulish. Lepontic was assimilated first by Gaulish, with the settlement of Gallic tribes north of the River Po, and then by Latin, after the Roman Republic gained control over Gallia Cisalpina during the late 2nd and 1st century BC

Sport Numbers contains classic sport number designs, similar to those that appear on sport uniforms and competition vehicles, in the proportions of 6 x 10, 8 x 10, 10 x 10, and 12 x 10, both vertical and oblique. Fossa is an unconventional serif designed primarily as a display typeface. Its splayed, pinched vertical strokes and pointy wedge serifs give it a distinct flavour. The style for Fossa was initially conceived while studying the forms of Optima – in particular, the subtle taper towards the midpoint of the stems and strokes. Taking the idea of vertical strokes with a nipped waist to the extreme, Fossa was born. The sharper style created by these vertical strokes is echoed within the serifs, resulting in a contemporary wedge serif with an elegant but dramatic character.
